well, I rooted my HTC wildfire last week and flashed cyanogenmod 7.1 using the guidelines from cyanogenmode wiki using revolutionary. but now I want to go the stock ROM and want my device unrooted and I don't want the revolutionary bootloader or clockwork recovery. I want my phone to be good as new. how can I do that? and I don't know if this is important but I had s-off even before I used revolutionary and my android version was something like 2.2.1.405.7 and i have a backup soon after using revolutionary ,before rooting and before
flashing cm 7. and can I use the backup to go back to stock ROM and if I can do I need to clear all data and cache just like I did before flashing cm7? and thanks in advance.

Good luck
I did that but...
thanks for the info. I followed the instructions ran the Ruu and updated hboot. but now whenever I boot to the bootloader it searches for some file and shows something like PC49DIAG not found and when I try recovery it shows a picture of a phone with a red triangle.nothing happens. what can I do about the missing file and stock recovery?
There is no missing file, the diag is something you place on your SD to open a menu, its not needed unless you are using an xtc clip I think.
The recovery has been reset back to stock recovery if you press volume up and power on that red triangle screen, I think that's the combination to take you into stock recovery.

Thanks . I opened recovery menu. But it showed at the bottom "E: Can't open/cache/recovery/command". Is it something I should be worried about?

The file might be corrupt.Download the RUU(http://shipped-roms.com/index.php?category=android&model=Buzz) and try again.
If that doesn't work.Extract the recovery(recovery.img)from RUU.
If that doesn't work either, try it through ADB.
Good luck :good:
Thanks but I only wanted to know if it will pose any problem

I'm cleaning up old phones and putting them back to default, however my Desire Z won't listen to me.
I've got the stock _WWE-2.42.405.2-signed ROM and flashed it, but it boots up at the HTC screen and stays there for eternity.
Tried making goldcards and nothing works.
None of the links to other files seem to work anymore (RUU_Vision_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.5.exe or Virtuous Fusion (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21640886) - which i know isn't a stock rom but it at least looks like it.
Any help would be appreciated.
I still have access to clockwork recovery and the phone is in S-OFF, just not sure what to do from here.
thanks

If you already unlocked the bootloader, then just flash a custom recovery and then Superuser.

That is the only way to gain S-OFF right now. Why you need S-OFF btw?
No reason really, fastbooting the .img I'm simple. But s-off makes it a little easier

Can you get into fastboot ? If you can there is still hope and it isnt BRICKED ....... Fastboot usb ... fastboot flash recovery again , then flash a correct rom . if recovery still isnt working try fastboot reboot recovery ..... and you may have to RUU . but as long as you have fastboot you still have a fighting chance .
I've tried to just flash the recovery through boot loader. Does the same thing. I'll try fast boot reboot recovery. How do I RUU? Can I flash a rom in fast boot?

We don't have that ROM? You flashed a sprint rom? You flashed the wrong kernel flash arom for this phone and you are fixed. You are not bricked until you cannot turn on your phone

I would REALLY start reading about all the things NOT to do with an S-OFF phone if you think you bricked your phone on a bootloop.
I honestly don't want to see your beautiful phone actually get BRICKED. which means just that it's a brick.. it doesn't turn on, no charge light ANYTHING, that is a brick. And can happen, but if you are careful you will be fine. but Not knowing how to flash an RUU and what a bootloop is, those are things you should learn BEFORE you S-OFF. Just don't want to see you end up with an actual Brick.

Lol! Learned allot in the past week. Andy, everything you said is on point. I took the time to read and learn and you'll be happy to know I'm now running TWRP with bone stock. I now have a better understanding of it all. I have rooted and unlocked many phones. Eris my first. What did the previous owner flash? (run?) Are you able to select and boot into Recovery from the Bootloader? If so, boot into recovery and Factory Reset or re-flash your ROM.
Sorry auto correct got me it was ruu not run and no it will not go into recovery I select it and it goes for 1 second then kicks me back to bootloader
I don't have any experience high HTC so I'm stuck

Try reflashing TWRP recovery in fastboot and see if you can then boot into recovery. Or you can try to reflash RUU or even just the boot.img. I am not a super expert on this, so hopefully someone will chime in.

Also, if you search around Google and xda you will find great step-by-step instructions and tutorials on how to setup and use adb/fastboot to flash and such.

Looks like he may be screwed. It says locked and s-on. He can't flash a recovery. If there's no ROM installed, you can't exactly use rumrunner. Might need to send it to sonic.

Unfortunately, might be. Odd that it was working fine, what would possess someone to try and flash the RUU? Anyway, if you tried flashing recovery, did you try and flash the system.img, boot.img and recovery_signed.img into their respective slots?
You should be able to find the files from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2437436
You will just need to unzip and extract those files, then flash them in fastboot to their respective partitions.
Other then that, I would say your bricked unless, like what tylerlawhon said, you can see if you can send it to sonic to s-off again.
You could maybe also try reading through this if the previous didn't work, I know it says must be s-off and unlocked, but possibly worth a read
