It can be rooted!
I used the following method to root my Huawei Ascend P1 LTE U9202L-1, worked a treat! The root also survives a factory reset.

This is not possible for p1 u9202L-1. I checked that method so many times
using a old android phone
Try SRS one click root, it worked for me I chose Root Device (all methods) and just followed the prompts. Nothing deleted but i would strongly suggest backing up using Holo Backup or similar.

I've found the kitkat rooting tool for Optimus G Pro which was released yesterday. It's confirmed to be working for F240x series phones with KitKat.
StartRoot.bat will take you to a cwm recovery mode in where you can select the sideload option to install the root files. Once done, just install supersu from Play.
Just tried it on a F240K and works fine.
It's working On AT&T E980 (unlocked) E98018c too

I've a new one with 4.1.2 stock and none of method here works until I see this post and got recovery-hercules-6.0.4.3.zip installed.
I might write a new guide when I am done, but this one needs to be pinned because I wasted a whole day searching and trying!
Super big thank you :good:
P.S. I used the lastest version of Kinguser from a chinese version of Universal 4.1.2 Root Tool works for me and for those only want root and stay stock.
There is already threads on rooting here. They just are way down the list, but they're there.
Rooting is quite simple and hasn't changed in awhile. Using these tools that seem to be out there can be risky or not work, from what I've seen.
Odin and the appropriate files are all that are needed. Very easy on the S2. And you will still be stock....until you flash something.

And from my experience, Odin 1.85 is still best for flashing recovery.
And for stock 4.1.2 flashing, Odin 3.04.

P.S. The SUxx.zip you have at drop box does not flash. I noticed there are 2 new folders in it.
Strange, re-uploaded the su zip. Should be working

Sorry if this is on the forums somewhere but i have a UK P6. Just gone from 116 to 132 then onto Kitkat 512. Tried to root with Vroot but all the destructions are in chineese even on the uk version!
Has anyone rooted 512 using another program?
I was rooted on 116 if this makes any difference.
Thanks all......
Did you manage to root your P6 since your last post ?
I also have a P6 with 4.4.2 B512 official firmware. I tried a lot of methods with no luck : vroot, eroot, root genius, kingo root... Each one failed.
methods listed here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2390491

Maybe the easiest way is to root with TWRP.
Reboot TWRP -> Press Reboot -> System. Now it will promt if you would like to root before rebooting, just press Yes. Now your phone will be reboot and you have root access!
You can restore to Stock recovery after doing this.

Quick question to both of you: do you have the Balance theme applied, or does it look like stock android?
In my experience, when my first boot looked like stock android, I wasn't able to root with vroot or root genius.
When I then changed to the balance theme, I could root successfully.

Best would be if you could do a fresh install of your firmware using the flash tool ie. the cse flash. Do you have your firmware file downloaded somewhere? Another option I can think of is repairing using the LG PC suite. You may like to consider these options.

To say I am a pissed off ASUS customer is an understatement...only just got my Zenfone 2 back a couple of weeks ago after getting the motherboard replaced as the camera was stuffed...and now today after applying an update the phone got stuck in a boot loop and I cant for the life of me get it back working again...
Can anyone point me in the direction to the steps to recovering the phone via sideloading the original firmware? I am able to access recovery mode and have attempted to re-install the firmware using the ASUS flash tool but I keep getting the error message that the serial number is incorrect,
