I've had noticeably better reception over LJ7, but as others stated, 3G is terrible here. Wimax on my Epic 4G was actually pretty good in a lot of areas, its too bad they didn't pack that radio in our S3s.

Don't know if you all are still listening but have any of you noticed how much worse the 3g has gotten lately. Over here on the west side, I've been noticing that I'm on 1x most of the time. I finally got around to flashing MB1 today so I'm hoping that is going to be better. Not that I have high hopes at all...

As you can see I don't have internet at home through Sprint. The Wifi was off. Decided to swich carriers. Already called sprint today and asked them to waive my early cancellation fee. He said he will call me next Tuesday.
You sure you had Wifi off? It shows it as on in the screenshot.
But you can check and see if Network Vision is upgrading soon in your neighborhood.

Yes it was off. I turned it on and went back to the program to take the snapshot. Here is a pick with wifi on.
PS: I'm rocking your ICS theme in my Calk ROM btw. You are the man buddy.
I'm running ek02 ROM, desperado 1.3 ek02 kernel and ek02 modem. I'll flash el29 modem and see if I notice any difference.
I'll flash ek02 again and post the numbers.
Now I'm getting 200's to 450. There must be varying amounts of network traffic tonight. It's only 12:41am, so people are probably still awake and using the data network. You could try a different host like Naples. Sometimes speakeasy speedtest on a browser gives different numbers out of Atlanta. Wanna see a crazy ass screen shot with 4g that I think was a fluke?
Miami is a city being worked on now. You won't see improvements for another 2 to 3 months. The reason for all the decrease on speeds is due to the off loading sprint is doing right now

That's because I get 29% off from them through work, but I suspect I'll be ditching them shortly. It just isn't worth waiting for the upgrades to be completed. For comparison purposes. It took me 7 minutes to download a 6 MB app on their 3G. LOL. Thank god for WIFI.

Today I got 33.29mbps in that same neighborhood. We'll all get there...hopefully sooner than later.

LTE is very signal strength dependent. EvDo RevA's (Sprint's 3G) speeds don't deteriorate unless it reaches a very low signal threshold. Next time you connect to the LTE site at Publix, open up your debugging menu and screenshot the LTE engineering screen and post it here.
With 6mbps, you have a rather low (-110dBm to -115 dBm signal strength). If your signal strength is high, then you should experience better speeds.

Sprint's in a position where they simply don't have the spectrum to deploy anything greater than a 5x5mhz carrier per market. This means LTE speeds will max out at about 38mbps, and even this is under extremely favorable conditions.
But worry not for Clearwire alone has more spectrum than Verizon does, and Clearwire, starting mid-2013 will be deploying LTE advanced on a 20x20mhz carrier! This means speeds will be up to 90mbps. Hang in there because even with Sprint's LTE maxing out at 38mbps, it's still very fast and the best part...unlimited.

Depending on where u live ur tower by ur house can be old and not updated so it slower or it can be a borrowed tower. The one by ur job must be in a city which they update first. For me the new lte modem sucks I went back to the old modem. It is more reliable.

Also, it's not like I'm underground or hidden from the outside world, I'm sitting right next to a window in a 6 story building. I've honestly had enough of t-mobile.. they always mess up my contract and have such ****ty speeds in my area. Not to mention, they directly lie to you over the phone and barely keep any promises. Oh and New York being one of the biggest cities isn't even one of the LTE cities that was upgraded. Sorry for this rant but I'm just kinda pissed with TMO.
Does anyone know if I can somehow check if my phone is set on the right antenna?

Yes a big difference. I mostly use WiFi tho when out cause I have WiFi hot spots every place by me. But the lte modem is use less by me till lte is around here.
Use the old apn if you're having issues. There's already a thread on this. Search for it.
I have a feeling the new apn is speed limited so when lte fully rolls out the hspa network isn't overloaded. Most people don't notice a difference between 8mbps and 11mbps. Which was my difference. But if your difference is between 3-5mbps and 55kbps then it's probably a tower issue as well.

Already tried the old apn in the other thread. No luck.
I'm thinking a tower issue, but I guess it's not? Tmobile contacted me today saying the towers around my area look good. So, there going to recheck since I get great data speeds everywhere else

Depending on where u live ur tower by ur house can be old and not updated so it slower or it can be a borrowed tower. The one by ur job must be in a city which they update first. For me the new lte modem sucks I went back to the old modem. It is more reliable.

Believe it or not but a easy way would be to root and then revert back to stock 4.1.1. It will get u back to normal u will just have to not update till they fix all the bugs
If you're in a refarmed market just manually select the 1900 band as AWS might be too crowded. I have to do the same when I'm at my house as on AWS I get 500kbps while on 1900 I get no less than 12mbps

Mm
Yes. Because we don't change the modem, just switch back and forth apn if in the are have lte tower just switch to lte apn (the original one).
This just my experience though.

Im mainly on LAX area, speeds varies but usually I get 18 to 20 now ita down to 10 and lower, even if I change the apn and not use lte same slow speed compared to the old radio.

Dial *#2263# and then under WCDMA choose the 1900 band.
