Does anyone know how to " Disable the PRL & PROFILE update " -- manually?
I didnt know that updating my prl and profile could wipe my phone and put it back to as if i just flashed the rom?
good thing i made a backup.
im rooted on STS Slesh Tweaked Stock 4.1.2 and im dying to know if theres a code i can either change or input something in root explorer?

Updating PRL and Profile do not wipe your phone. You can freeze or rename system update.apk but updating your PRL and Profile are things you need to do from time to time, especially after flashing a new modem or a new rom (before if you're going to aosp) I wouldn't recommend disabling your system updates unless you want to end up stuck needing it and not having it at some point.

Updating profile or PRL will not do that. I have done it several times and it does not touch the file system.

Hi, I just recently updated the OS on my Galaxy S7 (not rooted). I am living overseas and everytime I turn on my sprint phone it tries to update PRL and profile I am getting an error (I believe it is because I must me close to a Sprint antenna). Is there a way I can block the PRL and update profile task to run? It is very annoying getting the error message.

Hey guys, I just got an S3 3 days ago, just got paid again and was wondering if I should go ahead and spring for the note 2 but everyone keeps telling me since the note 2 has exynos, it will be hard to develop for or something? I've had an iPhone for 5 years so I'm a clinical retard when it comes to android stuff. It almost seems like the people saying that are kind of jealous that they don't or can't get the note 2. I was just wondering if you can easily root the note 2 and flash CM10, because I hate bloatware and love CM10 sounds. If CM10 isn't available is it possible to de bloat it at all?
De bloating is no problem. CM10 will lose the S-pen functionality on this monster.

Thanks for the reply brother. Another quick question, I used a very easy toolkit to root my S3, I don't remember who made but it was in green text and in console. Is there anything like that available for the note 2, it was amazingly simple to use and easily un rooted my S3, I've been on Android for all of 4 days so excuse my nubishness. Lol
Right now it is a little more difficult to root than a 1 click method...but in time I bet the developers will make it happen..
MY honest opinion...get the Note II...

I rooted within 5 minutes of getting the phone, but I would imagine that this only applies if you're rooted. AT&T doesn't want you taking its bloat/spy/malware off, so I really doubt they'd let an unrooted user go through and delete the apps.
I'm waiting for the Multi-view update before rooting. Save myself from having to unroot. And as for bloatware, you can just "disable" it - without rooting.
And as for it being "dead in the water".... what you talking about? News to me...

As far as rooting goes... There is a method on here that literally takes about 3 mins from beginning to end.. very easy. Once rooted, just download and install Cleanrom Lite 1.0...this rom is debloated and extremely fast/smooth. There are plenty of sms apps that provide quick reply... gosms/chompsms/handcent are just a few. This is one awesome phone and I wouldn't worry too much about development, or lack thereof.

No need to root to de-bloat. I'm on the stock ROM, haven't seen a need to root yet.
1. Go to: "Settings | Application Manager" and swipe over to the "All" tab.
2. Find what you want gone (i.e. all of the AT&T apps) and tap it.
3. Clear data, Clear cache. Some apps might also require you to "uninstall updates".
4. Force stop.
5. Disable.
You're done. If you later want to re-enable something, scroll down to the bottom of the "All" list ... it has everything you've disabled listed there. I've disabled about 32 things that came preloaded, including almost all the Samsung cloud stuff, GMail, all the Google Sync services, all the Google additional services (apps like Google+ and Google Play Magazines/Movies & TV/Music, not Android system services), with no issues whatsoever.

yes go to setting-application manager slide to the right until u see all apps then scroll down to any app u want to debloat select then disable. Boom the app will disappear. Remember this method only disable the app if u want to delete them then need root. Learn about Odin stuff that easy for new noobs. Good luck
I took a quick peek and didn't notice any tip list focusing on just rooting tips on this forum for this phone, feel free to add to this list! I know this is super noobish, but what the hell, hopefully this helps someone.
1. Removing annoying sounds (camera/startup/shutdown). Delete startup audio/camera audio sounds. I absolutely hate the dreadful sounds that come out of the S2, you can delete the ogg files if you are rooted by navigating to the parent directory ->system->media->audio->ui (delete ogg files as you wish). to delete the startup sound system->etc
2. Mobile Odin. Mobile Odin makes it super easy to flash a safe recovery kernal like el29. Another big plus, is using mobile odin doesn't trigger yellow triangle. Chainfire was nice enough to share mobile odin (that flashes kernal to xda users here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1347899). To put it simply, a safe kernal allows you to flash a zip/rom. Keep in mind getting mobile odin pro may allow you to flash roms directly, but I believe modems need to be flashed seperately.
3. Button Savior. If you have phantom key presses and it's driving you insane (like me in the past). Try this program out, I believe it's on the market. It adds software button functionality, having root access ensures that it has access to all buttons, not having root will cause some of the software buttons not to work. Highly recommend the paid version if you are stuck with a phone with phantom key presses. Keep in mind that the new JB roms and CM builds coming out have an option for on screen buttons.
4. pimp my rom. A wonderful app that has tons of customizations for the phone and tweaking for maximum performance. If you're interested check the forum page on it. -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1908269 . In addition, Exit_Only's tweaks are built specifically for our phone while pimp my rom is a more universal type of tweak. Exit_Only tweaks are here: -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1975379
5. Titanium Backup. Does so much ranging from uninstalling or "freezing" useless apps that come with the phone (think sprint FM radio or sprint ID). It also does what it says in it's name... backup stuff.

Both! I used to date a girl that was in the Marines and she was a FAHREEEEEEEAAAKKK in the bed. She was in OC school and was hardcore straight up by the book when in uniform, once that uniform came off she was a totally different chick. She was like pr0n* freaky. Are any of them specifically Paranoid Android / CM10 unfriendly? I know for sure Titanium & SuperSU are all fine. I had problems with Adfree on PA, so I started using AdAway instead.

Btw, instead of deleting files you could add a .bak file extension to whatever you don't want and reboot. This way if you want it back later on you just need to remove the .bak extension and reboot which is a lot better than flashing the full ROM again.

Are you getting the notifications from samsung/sprint or from goo manager. I get updates from goo manager sometimes when new ROMS are released by the devs that support it. I have yet to ever get one from samsung/sprint mostly due to not running stock ROM's.

Has anyone tried a different PRL and seen better results?
If so, which one and what area are you located in?
Also, is it okay to update prl and profile while being rooted on the stock rom or any custom ROM?
Edit: If you are rooted and device status as custom but still cannot update prl check to see if you have Samsung DM service frozen in titanium. If you do then unfreeze it, reboot, and you should be able to update it.
