if the battery life doesnt get better im selling this crap. i love this everything about the phone but the battery life. its just plain crap. can you guess please help try and figure out the problem. i have flashed every kernel and rom and always bad battery life.thanks
Looks like user error to me. There are a lot of times that your phone is awake and the screen isn't even on. Your apps are what is killing your battery life.

most people get between 4-5 hrs of screen ON time, this has nothing to do with ur gnex, it's related to an app u have, try to locate it and uninstall, or mail the developer about the issues u're getting with it.
you have bad signal and your apps are keeping the phone awake.
You can't seriously blame the phone for what is user error.
Your apps are what's causing the massive drain and unless you do away with the apps causing this drain, your battery life will always seem crap. I suggest you uninstall KTREweather and find a weather app/widget that's more reliable.
I take it it's this app you're using? https://play.google.com/store/apps/...sMSwxLDEsImNvbS5rdHJlLmFuZHJvaWQud2VhdGhlciJd
Judging by its features, I'm not suprised it kills your battery. Live radar and storm tracking? Who needs that?
You have serious drain from awake apps, and looks like you're doing a lot of streaming radio/music? And your signal is absolutely terrible. All of these together will absolutely drain your battery.
use this free app called diagnosis to figure out which apps or processes are causing you trouble https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.diagnosis&hl=en

generally, i dont let anything run on my phone that i dont want it to run. if you have root, there is a good app called autostarts that lets pick what app you want to start up when the phone boots. only when you actually open that app itll start up https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.elsdoerfer.android.autostarts&hl=en

Tbh I let Android do all of the app management. I also only install apps that I'm going to use as well as keeping them running to a minimum in the background.

Why do people keep saying this ****? Get apps that don't eat your battery. Until then, don't try to claim someone else is wrong.

I know it's a pain in the arse, you could also try a factory reset.
If you do? Don't forget to back up any important stuff like phone numbers ect.
Draining battery completly within 5 hours with screen OFF, your device must almost be hot at the end of this!
There's indeed something preventing your device from going into deep sleep and using its specific low-consumption core for it. Tegra 3 can drain battery pretty fast when screen is on and using its full potential, but standby time is pretty good
Do as said above, finf what app is responsible, or if you can't, do a facory reset

I have been monitoring this for a while now and in several different mods etc. It seems when I leave my phone plugged in fully charged with the screen on it will at a random times just think it has 0% battery even when plugged in it will then shut off. Battery temp is a little high at around 40c. Can't find any running app or process that is throwing up any red flags either. Any ideas? As you can see in the images it just almost instantly drops from 100% to 0% and then shuts down. It doesn't reboot...just shuts off until i power it back on.

I've got the same drain problem as your number 1, but not the other 2 issues. The funny thing is it only started a week or so ago, before that it was fine. I've been running the Viper rom, and Faux kernel without a hitch for over a month up until now.
I used to get a day out of the battery, and 2.5-3 hour screen on which was fine IMO, but not anymore.
I'm wondering if a recent app update has caused the issue, just speculating though, also it seems to be that the drain is happening when I'm not using the phone, when I do use the handset for whatever it uses the battery as normal.
Not trying to hijack your thread, just thought I'd give my two pennies worth as I'm having a similar problem.

You seem to have a lot of applications running and something is keeping your phone awake. Any awake time when the screen isn't on also is an application using your phone.
Go to the play store and check the permissions of your downloaded apps, any app that has the permission to keep your device awake is a candidate for your problem. Uninstall them all and your problem should be gone, re-install one by one and see when it returns.
Regards
Phil

Looks like it's the radio causing the majority of your drain. How is the signal in your location? I see you've switched from EDGE to 3G during the screenshots... if the 3G signal isn't great then it will cause battery drain searching. It might be worth forcing your phone to either 2G or 3G only and seeing what happens.

Actually I just switched to 3g in the last couple of days. I only had 2G previously and the problem still occurred. Its funny that it happens only at night.
I think its the time for a fresh start. Format your phone and start all over.
So, how much will it takes you? Less than 3 hours? I'd say go for it.
At lest it would give you less headache and hopefully more battery.
Good Luck

Simply reboot! Yes, it's that easy.
Recently my phone has been acting... odd. Basically every reboot reported a completely different battery level. It went like this:
Reboot: 67%
Reboot: 17%
Reboot: 45%
Reboot: 0% (Whhaaat!?)
Reboot: 75%
It was really fun after playing a game that apparently draws just a little too much current, causing it to instantly power off. Fun times.
That's not normal. If your phone is doing that, buy a new battery. From what I've been reading here, it seems like these phones either kill batteries in disproportionate amounts, or we were given lots of bad ones. Seems odd.

Unfortunately, it's not quite that easy. For those of us who have a battery that is going bad (starting to bulge) a reboot does not always screw with the battery value, other times it does. :screwy:
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Typically on Reboots you will drop battery % a bit.. Not as drastic as OP is showing... I don't know if it applies on this side so much but on the OG Epic, Since it was first rooted you would sometimes get a false battery % on reboot (Start at 90% before reboot, after reboot shows 20% or less!) Which case reboot, pull battery, toss it in and reboot would clear it. The "Spin Test" is a fairly accurate test. Battery's due bulge after being overheated for so long. So that's a quick indication as well that she's gone. Nice post btw..
Haha. Yeah, it fails the spin test too. I was just shocked that it couldn't get a consistent reading after half a dozen reboots. Didn't have anything handy to do a spin test on the train, so this works too. I haven't flashed for months, so I seriously doubt it's a calibration issue. I've seen charge drop before, but never jump up by 50±%.
I went in to a Sprint store for a replacement, and they had to order one. Really? One of the most popular phones last year, and they don't carry any spare batteries?
Oh well. At least it was free after they confirmed it was bulging.

My battery is OK if im 90% and do a reboot it stays 90% or 89% but one day i had to charge it with another charger and it happened to me. It went from 75% to 20%. I let it go to cero and then charge it with the original one and it fix it. At some point the battery will f#ck uff LOL

Can someone translate this into English?
Just so you know, I did research. That research commonly led to several threads where people complained that their battery percentage suddenly dropped following a reboot. I also experienced this, and thought nothing of it. It is in fact common, especially after a ROM flash. But you'll notice I said nothing of a ROM flash, nor did I complain about the drop in percentage itself.
It's the fact that the percentage acts like a yo-yo. I rebooted about 10 times while on the train home from work, and every time, the charge was effectively a random number between 0 and 80. I say 80 because that's the highest number I saw during those reboots. When I finally got home, I was able to spin my battery on a flat surface, confirming my earlier suspicion.
Since you're so enlightened, flush with the knowledge of all Samsung devices and their numerous quirks, perhaps instead of ridiculing us, you could point out some of the "research" we're missing?
Wait... let me try putting it your way:

Wife's phone has been having the same issues. Went in to Sprint, they saw the battery was bulging and wanted to run additional diagnostics. They said it would take an hour and a half, when we came back they said all problems are caused by the battery. Sprint didn't have any in stock and recommended we try Batteries+ who also didn't have any in stock. Going to try the Anker batteries recommended in the E4GT Accessories forum.
