I purchased a T-Mobile touch pro 2 from a "friend" of a friend. I'm considering putting this phone up on ebay or selling through another method. My question is if I sell it, will the person purchasing it have any problems activating the phone? I see that T-Mobile uses SIM cards for their phones so can the buyer just pop in their T-Mobile SIM card and have it be fully functional? I would highly consider keeping this phone but I'm not a T-Mobile subscriber. I've been with Sprint for a long time and I'm not planning on switching. Any input is highly appreciated. Thanks.
yes, if the person has a data plan on their account then they will have no problem, if they dont they just have to call it in to customer care and they can add it over the phone. either way they will just pop in their t-mobile sim card and be ready to go
You have some nice friends.
I notice today that HTC added the Touch Po 2 to their US site list. T-mobile will be the first to release it and apparently it's going to be soon. I'm guessing 1 month as its not on tmobile's site yet.

If your friend got it the way I think he got it, he signed a release not to sell it.
The flip side of that is ... I don't know how much tracking they're doing on these devices.
If he's asked to produce the device and he/she can't, it will raise some eyebrows.
(That's just me knowing what I know)

Now I am using the Tmobile service. I am very interested on the EVO. Today I want to preorder on the radioshack but the seller told me that I can't use the simcard on the EVO.
Does anyone tell me the truth?
You are not serious right?
I mean its possible if you take the radio out and install a new one that works with the SIM cards
It is not a good idea.
If EVO does not have a sim card slot, does anyone have the solution?
Yeah switch to sprint and pay the early termination fee ONLY WAY. I have Tmobile myself and about 9 months left on my contract but I'm gonna sell my G1 after so I should recoup the cost or at best some of it.

Import a HTC Desire or get a Nexus One.
The closest thing you could get on T-Mo is the Nexus One or an HTC HD2 running Android.
The short answer is: NO!
The real answer I want to give, but I know it's not proper etiquette: Are you kidding me? You can't be that dumb.
The long answer: Unless you are a hardware genius (and I mean circuits and chips and stuff genius) then you won't be able to rip out the hardware guts of a T-mobile phone and do some precise soldering back into the EVO (minus whatever cuts into the EVO case you are going to have to do to make room for the extra hardware).
I'm a T-mobile customer, so I hate to leave them, but this phone is just soooo sexy. T-mobile (using GSM technology) and Sprint (using CDMA) is like Windows and Linux: Two completely different technologies that are not compatible. It has to do with the cellular radio frequencies and technology. Like water and oil, these do not mix well. CDMA technology does NOT use sim cards. You are going to have to give up T-mobile and everything that comes with it.
I am selling my MT3g and going to back to sprint... just sell your current phone to help offset the ETF if your still in contract.
Thank you. All guys. I think I have to give up the tmobile.
Does anyone know how to keep the current phone number?
Dont get me twisted...
The EVO is a sweet phone... the 4g is not a selling point until its more wide spread. The screen compares to the HD2, but windows doesnt comapre to android in anyway! lol... They have built the linux kernal that runs on the HD2 its only a matter of time before we got android on the phone. The nexus one is another amazing phone with its amoled screen its hard to give up. screen maybe smaller but damn if its not nicer...
last thing Id say is, T-mobile is monthly cheaper than sprint unlimited everything for 85$ a month not bad... I dont use a lot of minutes so 65$ for 500m unlimited txt/web... whats sprint prices?
I pay MSRP on most my phones so I could run no contract with a cheap price which pays for phones...

Dude are you from Mars?
You know porting number has been around for a while now?
Start here: http://tinyurl.com/24j4cp6
Come on take it easy on the guy. Not all of us are expert users.. Alot of people buy smartphones and be so novice.
Yes you can port your number. You must first get sprint service and tell them "I want to port my number over" and they will see if its able to port..
micro sim card for t mobile
Question. now that there are micro Sim cards on t mobile is it posible to flash the phone htc evo shift 4g to work on t mobile with the micro t mobile sim card?

Hey guys, decided to pick up a One V, the price was too good to be true at Best Buy, $25 with a $75 gift card and a $150 tab, so essentially cost me $100. Great phone, love it so far.
Unlocked and rooted as per ckpv5's awesome tutorial. I'm a bit new to the Android hax but doing a bunch of reading and learning.
My problem now is, I'd rather run the phone on Virgin's network. I have a great plan with them and cheaper to buy out my Koodo tab than break my Virgin contract. I searched everywhere for a way unlock sim but cannot find. Am I being a noob and looking too hard? Is it an obvious procedure which isn't documented? Or am I required to purchase unlock code? Which btw, I have no problem doing, just trying to exhaust all avenues.
Many thanks

You will need to be able to hardware mod the phone to accept a GSM sim on top of the hardwired chip.
You'll also need balls of steel.

The sprint note has no accessable sim slot. To "possibly" accomplish this one would need to modify the hardware by adding a sim slot and hack the software.
there is a thread about sone folks attempting this...i have not been following it.

in layman's terms, you can't. if you remove the back cover from your device there is no sim card slot on the sprint variant to insert a sim. the only current wait to use our phones abroad is to use the sprint international plan.
Got it
Thank you all for your help. I sold the phone. I had no choice...

You could buy an AT&T Note to use with Straight Talk. I have one for sale on eBay right now (Note 1, not 2) that I bought for that same reason, but don't have coverage where I live to make it happen. http://www.ebay.com/itm/290826024805?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
ebay search
note ii sim or search for this one 271090307387
$6.47 swap that plug and play component into place and BAM sim card slot.
either cut a hole in your middle cover OR buy a int middle cover.
also someone is working on a mod solution to keep the 4g AND add a sim card slot
we off course still need to unlock to work on US carriers but maybe its not locked to begin with since they would not have thought of someone swapping parts like this.

very cool. do you know if you can do a similar trick with the ebay sim card holders for the Galaxy S3 (i.e. L710) ? I'm really hoping to buy a sprint GS3, put it on ting, and be able to occasionally take it internationally.
I was about to buy a motorola photon, but the lack of updates is scaring me.
UPDATE: found this thread if you're more into the GS3 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002515

maybe it's just me, but amazing that so many people still believe that phones are compatible with other carriers............if you have Tmobile, AT&T then you're GSM network, Verizon & Sprint are CDMA..............it just bugs me when people ask to get their Sprint phone activated on another carrier (only exception is Cricket). I had someone a couple of days ago who bought a Tmobile version of the Galaxy S3, and wanted to know how to jailbreak it to use on another carrier.
normally you would be absolutely right. but in this specific case and possible with the S3 as well your incorrect.
the Note II and possibly the S3 have full GSM capabilities. Sprint just "corrupted" them on purpose (and should be illegally as well)
with the gizmo from ebay we get a normal sim card slot. now we just need a good hacker/coder to unlock the intentional "block" put in place by sprint to prevent it from seeing US GSM signals from companies other than sprint.
once someone manages to do that we will literally have a phone that could in theory be used on "ANY" US provider and probably any world provider.

based on a search of this and looking at pictures. why would you lose 4g? the lte chip is built on the processor board.

the statement below is 100% correct. the hardware in this phone is fully capable of GSM service. the removed software controls are the problem.

I don't know. Someone posted that the LTE SIM card (a chip on the board) is part of this board. so removing it would remove LTE (disable it)
but if your going SIM your going GSM so can't use sprint LTE anyway. so its not a "huge" deal.
Magic Sim?
I contacted Magic Sim and they said their Elite Micro Sim would work with Sprint. It did not show on the site so I emailed them and they said it would.

There's a guy out there that says he can put it on straight talk w/o sim. operates on verizon network. 231 something was the name of the outfit. google a bit and I'm sure you will find him. hope I helped
look on ebay at the people that do boost mobile flashes for the note 2. send them a message asking if they do the sprint note 2 to straight talk. most of them I talked to do this for like $50 if you have a new donor. If anyone needs more info pm me and I'll be glad to help

make sure that yo firmware is not later than 4.1.1 and use the 16 digit code to unlock. Samsung default (01F2030F5F678FF9)
so, i recently bought this phone new in box. opened the box, inserted my sim and it does not recognize it. now i should mention that i use walmart family mobile as my carrier. could that be my problem? i'm told that t-mobile phones work since there a branch of t-mobile but so far no luck. im going from a captivate to this phone, so the sim was bigger. i used the template deal and cut it down to the micro sim size which i thought could be my problem but the sim happily works in the captivate. any help with this would be greatly appreciated. i will answer all questions to my greatest abilities and i apologize in advance if im the 18th person to ask this today like other questions

but this works with other t-mobile phones and i know this because i have done it without an unlock, but those were older older phones like the s1 and s2. does the t999l specifically pick a fight? maybe a quirk of 4.1.2?

I believe in order for this to work on this device, you would need to unlock it..
I'm no expert, but this is my personal experience..
In order for me to test this, I would have to have both devices and YOUR sim card..

well a man can hope right? and from my extensive research i have found that because of the fancy L the only way to unlock this is via a dude on ebay, or a code directly from t-mobile. i doubt t-mobile would do this for a non-contract phone though. it certainly does suck to suck.
Esn?

"Doesn't recognize it" please explain what exactly what is happening. If it is still asking for a SIM to be inserted, you will need a new SIM, but if it is asking for a Unlock PIN Code or similar, then you will need to unlock the phone to use with a non-TMo provider. Personally, I think that since you cut the SIM and it is not lining up. You should get a new (factory made, not cut) Micro-SIM. Also, I believe that it should work with Simple, Straight Talk and Walmart Family on any TMo phone.
