Just curious if the data is around the same watching it from the phone vs tethering it to the ps3/iPad?

Strictly talking data speeds, it wouldnt be. Whenever you add an extra layer you lose some data speed...and especially when that layer is wifi vs a hardwired connection, you lose a good amount
Its like connecting to your home wifi, then tethering from your phone, and then connecting your other devices to your phones wifi. There would be a faster connection if you just connected the devices directly to the home wifi
Now the reason I say "strictly data speeds" is because you have to take into account another implicit factor here, the video playback and video buffering capabilities of each device. It may be that although the connection speed is faster from your phone, the other devices will stream better because their video playback is implemented in a more efficient / faster way. If the software is bad, then the things the software is gonna do will be bad as well, and other devices will be able to potentially do it faster
I think the op is asking whether Netflix sends a lower bitrate video to the phone app vs. the tablet, desktop, or console apps.
I honestly don't know, but I'd think it ramps up the quality based on the speed, not the device.

Sorry if this has already been posted but just wanted to share that I have gotten the Miracast feature on our OG to work (I am running V8, rooted, but not unlocked). The adapter that I am using is the Netgear PTV3000 ($60) running a beta firmware v2.2.6 (a quick google search will give the link to download the beta firmware if you are interested). The connection is pretty solid and it mirrors the display (and audio) from the phone as expected.
Youtube 720p videos play fine in both Eco and non-Eco mode for the most part. Sometimes audio-video can get slightly out sync (0.5 second or so) if in Eco mode, otherwise its fine if in non-Eco mode. 1080i/p videos are a different story, however. In Eco mode, Youtube and locally stored 1080p videos have a significant amount of macroblocking, random lines appearing throughout the video, and audio/video sync issues. If Eco mode is disabled, macroblocking goes away and the random lines are decreased but still present and still to the point where they are an issue and definitely detract form the viewing experience (especially with fast-moving objects in the video). Audio-video sync is better vs Eco mode but still not perfectly synchronized. Otherwise, web browsing and using apps (Angry Birds, etc) on the phone work well mirrored to the tv. There's about a 1 second lag from phone to tv and the phone is situated about 8 feet from the adapter. I am hopeful that future firmware updates will resolve these issues but since these issues do not appear when using the adapter with my laptop (discussed below) and are somewhat mitigated by disabling Eco mode, it may be LG that needs to issue the updates to resolve the audio sync and HD video quality issues and not Netgear.
Please also keep in mind that when using Miracast on the OG, the OG's wifi connection to your router is disabled so that the OG can utilize its wifi adapter to connect to the Miracast adapter (Netgear PTV3000). This may be important because if your intent is to stream internet video from your phone to the tv, then you will have to rely on the Sprint data connection. In this situation, hopefully you have 4G in your local area because in my experience, Sprint 3G streaming is basically useless.
Finally, if you are wondering about all the bad Amazon reviews on the Netgear PTV3000 and are hesitant to purchase, I wouldn't worry about it and just take the plunge. I've had this adapter for about two months now and will admit that performance was below what I had expected with the early firmwares. However, with this new beta firmware, all my issues have been resolved as video from my laptop (Asus UX31a ultrabook) is now extremely smooth (even 1080p) with no frame drops or macroblocking. And it seems they finally got the HDCP issue worked out so now I can mirror copyrighted content (like DVDs) from the laptop to the tv. I plan to purchase a second unit to keep in my travel bag.
Im just gonna use my MHL adapter until they get Miracast sorted out

Anyone using an Andriod phone with their Note 8.0 utilizing tablet talk and all share app? I have an iphone 5 jailbroken which I use for free tethering however I was thinking of getting an andriod phone to take advantage of tablet talk and all share apps. I had a BB torch with the BB Playbook utilizing the bridging functionality and it was great! Wondering if I will have the same experience if I went all Andriod or Samsung. Any feedback would be greatly aprreciated. THANKS in advance!
I use TabletTalk all the time between my Note 8.0 and DROID Bionic. Unfortunately, in comparison to my Nexus 7,there seems to be more issues. The biggest one are the Bluetooth connection of one of the devices (not sure which one might be both) just kinda stupid working between the two devices. The device need a full reboot to connect. This is less frequent between a WiFi connection but still prevalent none the less.
It really probably had something to do with my phone or ROM though. Even when I Bluetooth tether, the device just craps out eventually.

I find after X amount of time Bluetooth has to be turned OFF and then ON again for it to actually work. Otherwise e.g. Tablet Talk connection to my S3 will fail, my keyboard won't be able to connect, etc. Don't ya just love Android and Samsung's Bluetooth capabilities? >_<.
Past that I've had no issues, haven't tried audio or tether yet.
AllShare Play / Link works fairly well and unlike the version on my phone, is still able to see regular DLNA devices (without making me go straight to e.g. Video Player or Gallery). Using it with MiniDLNA on Debian stable, it can be confused and refuse to playback some files with a Foo.jpg cover art file assocaited with Foo.m4v, etc. Third party solutions for DLNA are widely available on Google Play.
Has anyone realize that download speed on Nexus 7 is significantly slower on the Nexus 7? I can get a much better speed when I use my nexus 4 to download the same torrent. And I've also tried different clients (utorrent, bittorrent, atorrent etc.) that doesn't help either. Any thought on how to improve this?

Play with your wifi settings like wifi optimization and such, that particular option has slowed my wifi on other devices.

I haven't had any issues download torrents. Try forwarding different ports on your router. I get 2.6 mb/s downloading torrents which is what my computer gets and what my ISP provides, and I'm running my nexus off the 5ghz band on my dual band router. 26 Mbps Down/2.57 Mbps Up

i have the same issue
I have both nexus tablet 7 12 & 13 in front of me connected to the same access point and both using tTorrent pro app. 2012 is downloading at +300kbps while 2013 barely reaches 100kbps. What is the problem???

I had the same issue with kitkat, previous device on 3.2 OS run fine. PC too.
I disabled uTP in flud (network), and I limited connections to 30 (bandwidth) or 21.
Probably it will resolve problem.
If not, forward ports on router, and set it in BT client
i.e. 6881~6889 or 18006 UTP&UDP.
Eventually also disable upnp, or also change storage to SD, or internal memory.
I have also enabled encryption out and in, and both level. I'm not sure, maybe if it will helps here I write.
At the end you can check ttorent with utp disabled/or prevented from limit ~sth like this, that's the other solution.
In Android options you can test turning off optimizing Wifi option.
I also met with serious troubles with achieving proper speeds during attempts of streaming torrents. Unfortunately, now there is no any torrent stream app which has extended options of p2p protocol, for applying given instructions above, excluding mTorrent, (port setting and encryption) which is still not enough, and flud still rules among all android p2p clients, which allows to get some more decent speeds, maybe not as at PC, but decent.
And flud still surprises, having option of sequential downloading, which means transforming way of downloading, just for watching in fly, during downloading, to not spread pieces around during downloading, so in that way like bitx or tvp, or mTorrent works. We can see the 'pieces' in a diagram, and just start watching after some time when enough data is collected. Mostly when ETA corresponds with duration of movie. And then, just find your file, and open by your usual player. That's it. I recommend MX Player. Finds different subs in many languages, allows switching.
So, with my instructions for flud given above, or just with flud as solution for problem with slow torrent downloads on Android, especially streams, now you can finally achieve decent speeds to stream i . e. 2GB FHD file with 4 mb network bandwidth on devices with troubles with low speed of downloading torrents on Android.
So, enjoy.
I have a Linksys E2000 router. For some reason my new Nexus 7 times out, lags out, or fails to connect when doing basic things like browsing with Chrome, Google+, or the Play Store. I don't want to say that this only occurs with Google apps but they are what I primarily use on my tablet. This happens often enough to be extremely bothersome and I don't know what I should do. I have port forwarding enabled on my router for use with Plex on my PS3 but I don't see how that could only be effecting my Nexus 7 negatively and no other devices. If anyone has any ideas as to what I could do I would greatly appreciate it!

A kernel is what bridges hardware and software including the WiFi. You can try flashing a custom kernel and/or ROM to fix your problem.

I'm having a similar issue. It's really annoying. I have an old router so I'm going to replace it and see if it gets better.
I have same issues with Linksys. Works great on other routers. I did a factory reset of the Linksys and it seems to be better.

Has anyone watched YouTube videos on their Note 4 yet? I get really slow buffering while watching 720p quality. 360p will buffer at times. I am on LTE, and my speedtest results are 7-10megs.
My girlfriend's s5 streams the same video on 720P alot faster than mine on LTE, at the same location. I added an APN to match hers, but no luck. Is there something I'm missing? I have not dropped the phone, yet...
Thanks for reading.
I use videobee personally because I like the way it caches the videos in comparison to the native YouTube app.
It also has an added bonus of allowing the video to be streamed via WiFi and LTE/4G/HSPA+ simultaneously, making those terrible public WiFi connections useful.
I wish there was a way to bond/aggregate all traffic that way, it would be nice to have the option so I could at least put a dent in this 30GB plan each month.
The smart network switch setting in the WiFi of this phone leads me to think it uses a form of load balancing which would be great if it actually allowed LTE to stay on while on WiFi, which perhaps or does, but then again I haven't tested it at all.
Sorry, went off topic a bit, I digress... try videobee.

Heck...I get very poor video buffering of Youtube on my PC, with Cable 'Up to 50 Mbps download speed'. I stream HD videos and stuff from Netflix all the time, no issue. Watch Youtube=crap downloads/buffering.
