Has anyone watched YouTube videos on their Note 4 yet? I get really slow buffering while watching 720p quality. 360p will buffer at times. I am on LTE, and my speedtest results are 7-10megs.
My girlfriend's s5 streams the same video on 720P alot faster than mine on LTE, at the same location. I added an APN to match hers, but no luck. Is there something I'm missing? I have not dropped the phone, yet...
Thanks for reading.
I use videobee personally because I like the way it caches the videos in comparison to the native YouTube app.
It also has an added bonus of allowing the video to be streamed via WiFi and LTE/4G/HSPA+ simultaneously, making those terrible public WiFi connections useful.
I wish there was a way to bond/aggregate all traffic that way, it would be nice to have the option so I could at least put a dent in this 30GB plan each month.
The smart network switch setting in the WiFi of this phone leads me to think it uses a form of load balancing which would be great if it actually allowed LTE to stay on while on WiFi, which perhaps or does, but then again I haven't tested it at all.
Sorry, went off topic a bit, I digress... try videobee.

Heck...I get very poor video buffering of Youtube on my PC, with Cable 'Up to 50 Mbps download speed'. I stream HD videos and stuff from Netflix all the time, no issue. Watch Youtube=crap downloads/buffering.

Hi all,
I don't know if it's just an impression, but after the Froyo upgrade, watching Youtube videos over 3G on my Desire is a no go.
Videos get chopped, they don't buffer. Ok, 3G is not as good as wifi, but if the videos buffered, I could just wait a little for the buffering and then play them, without jumps or lags.
Is there a solution for that? I do like watching some videos in Youtube sometimes, and I don't want to need wifi connection to watch them properly.
Sorry if this has already been posted but just wanted to share that I have gotten the Miracast feature on our OG to work (I am running V8, rooted, but not unlocked). The adapter that I am using is the Netgear PTV3000 ($60) running a beta firmware v2.2.6 (a quick google search will give the link to download the beta firmware if you are interested). The connection is pretty solid and it mirrors the display (and audio) from the phone as expected.
Youtube 720p videos play fine in both Eco and non-Eco mode for the most part. Sometimes audio-video can get slightly out sync (0.5 second or so) if in Eco mode, otherwise its fine if in non-Eco mode. 1080i/p videos are a different story, however. In Eco mode, Youtube and locally stored 1080p videos have a significant amount of macroblocking, random lines appearing throughout the video, and audio/video sync issues. If Eco mode is disabled, macroblocking goes away and the random lines are decreased but still present and still to the point where they are an issue and definitely detract form the viewing experience (especially with fast-moving objects in the video). Audio-video sync is better vs Eco mode but still not perfectly synchronized. Otherwise, web browsing and using apps (Angry Birds, etc) on the phone work well mirrored to the tv. There's about a 1 second lag from phone to tv and the phone is situated about 8 feet from the adapter. I am hopeful that future firmware updates will resolve these issues but since these issues do not appear when using the adapter with my laptop (discussed below) and are somewhat mitigated by disabling Eco mode, it may be LG that needs to issue the updates to resolve the audio sync and HD video quality issues and not Netgear.
Please also keep in mind that when using Miracast on the OG, the OG's wifi connection to your router is disabled so that the OG can utilize its wifi adapter to connect to the Miracast adapter (Netgear PTV3000). This may be important because if your intent is to stream internet video from your phone to the tv, then you will have to rely on the Sprint data connection. In this situation, hopefully you have 4G in your local area because in my experience, Sprint 3G streaming is basically useless.
Finally, if you are wondering about all the bad Amazon reviews on the Netgear PTV3000 and are hesitant to purchase, I wouldn't worry about it and just take the plunge. I've had this adapter for about two months now and will admit that performance was below what I had expected with the early firmwares. However, with this new beta firmware, all my issues have been resolved as video from my laptop (Asus UX31a ultrabook) is now extremely smooth (even 1080p) with no frame drops or macroblocking. And it seems they finally got the HDCP issue worked out so now I can mirror copyrighted content (like DVDs) from the laptop to the tv. I plan to purchase a second unit to keep in my travel bag.
Im just gonna use my MHL adapter until they get Miracast sorted out

Has anyone checked the bandwidth used on the fire tv .. especially netflix.
Mine is not working to my satisfaction, netflix on my PC on the same network streams at 3000kbps consistently while on fire tv it stays at 1000kpbs leaving it looking second rate at best.
Is there a trick to make it work or is it just not a very good device for netflix.

You using a netflix app? Maybe it doesn't do the better connection.
For example, the UFC app say it's sending 800kbs streams to my AFTV, but it's not, the crap is so blocky I think I'm watching an illegal streaming of some UFC matches . My guess is that it think since it's a mobile app, no one needs a decent 720p stream, and like the UFC app, I'm getting around a 240p stream, if that.
I assume your AFTV is running a wired internet connection? Like the PC? If not, then you might want to also check that nothing else is using the wifi connection at the same time, because that can mess up wifi speeds.

Thanks, I am using wired connection yeah, same router as PC. Using the netflix app that came with the fire tv.
Anyone else have issues streaming videos recorded on your phone in full hd to your Samsung tv? Mine buffers or loads so frequently it's almost not even worth the effort. My buddy at work says he gets the same thing, so wondering if it's just that the dnla or whatever it's called is just too slow?
So the option to play videos in 1080p is there, but I have to manually choose it every time I watch any video. Every video from every channel plays in 480p now on this phone. Every other phone I've had only does that if my Internet is slow. It's a pain can anyone offer any insight? Not rooted fully stock on AT&T but using Comcast WiFi.

Not an issue with the ROM or device firmware. YouTube dynamically sets the video quality based on your Wi-Fi or data connection speed, but it's pretty strange at times. Even though my connection is 200mb/s down 50 up with TWC, YouTube drops me to 144p. If it really annoys you, you can use YouTube's web version as an alternative.
