Correct. The reason why Sony pulled the plug on ics for the xperia play is it does lag the device not just gaming but overal.

[Q] Wildfire S with ICS??

Do you know something about Android 4.0 on our phone? Anyone to make custom ROM?
P.S. Will we have official update to 4.0?

Wait for CM9
i think we wont get official update but i hope a dev port on our wfs
I hope that we'll have ICS with Sense 4.0 when the developers can try it
Sense 4.0 ?
AFAIK, 3.5 is the latest one.
Yes but with Android 4.0 (ICS) HTC phones will get Sense 4.0
alquez said:
The ICS can be compiled for armv5 processors and somehow boot on Wildfire S (pure theory, but I'm 60-70% positive it should work). But without working hardware drivers you can forget about hardware acceleration, various devices (camera, probably wifi bt radio)
In short - we need to wait for CM team to make ics compatible with other msm7227 devices

Isn't the Wildfire S ARMv6???

Ohhhh. That ICS. I thought it was the Internet C***** Services.
Ice Cream Sandwich
ICS Soon.
For official CM9 it will take a long time to come because CM7 has to come first and first of all the official update of 2.3.6 (not yet available in all countries.
By the way, Wildfire S is a arm6.5 device so CM9 will sure come out.

eeerr, we've already got a CM9. It's unofficial yes, but it's fully working for daily use. Only bugs are I think Panoramic mode on Camera, and FM Radio.

[Q] Vanilla Gingerbread/ICS?

I just two days ago got an Xperia Play, and I'm wondering what's the easiest way to get to VANILLA (not launchered) Gingerbread, and with ICS coming out I do not want SE's bloatware.
I considered freezing Sony Ericsson Home.apk then read you can mess up your phone. :l
oh! try to get cm9 with android 4.0.4 fxp 119 for xperia play!
a full aosp rom!
no junkwares from Sony!
buttery smooth!

AWESOOOOOME! Is it a final build yet though?
Can I use flashtool? I'm new to rooting (you have no idea how bad that sounds to some Australians, oh man)
(I think I'll try ICS++ first, is there anywhere I can get CWM for Play?)
My advice is to use AOKP. With Cyanogen, I had problems with data, not with AOKPlay

For the Recovery, I have a tutorial to install it, but it's in French. If you need a translation, PM me : phonandroid.com/forum/xperia-play-cwm-recovery-avec-bootloader-verrouille-t10220.html

Is the battery life good/game compatibility good? If not then forget it.
Also, at this time, would it just be possible to install the clean GB Home.APK launcher file?

I'm new here too!
Some custom ROMS don't support the touch pads.
You'r best bet is to go double check the compatibility list for the ROM

I'm "almost" certain its the ROM that doesn't support the touch pads.
To check compatibility go to the page from which you downloaded the rom. Once there you should find a section of updates and know bugs. The update section shows you whats been added and fixed.
The known bugs section shows the issues within the rom.
Read all comments and if then you still haven't found a solution or explanation, post your problem on their page and ask if anyone else is experiencing this issue.
i wonder what custom room does have a working touchpad.. anyway tnx mate.

Markphytons ics has working touchpads.
Sorry for my bad English. It's not my native language.
Main problem is that ICS roms not supporting Xperia Play touchpad. There few roms like Markphytons or CDork ICS unforunatelly touchpad not working in all of games.
Advice try to put different roms and see what works what not.
I tried few ICS and back to Gin2JellyBeans based on 2.3.4, it's stable, fast and touchpads works.
Btw there is threat that could help. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797280
If you want touchpads and gaming use stock or Gin2JellyBean

Every game I've played on 2.3.3 plays on 4.0.4 with the touch pads, plus more.
I can play MC3, NOVA2 & N64OID with the touch pads. Maybe they recently updated it? IDK but I'm enjoying it!

No JB roms have everything perfectly working. In fact, all the non-stock based ROMs have everything working 100% (HDMI, etc).

I think it's the major differences in framework of the phones. Can't be sure because I'm sorta noob xD
just if it was that easy. The phones have completely differant hardware, and framework. and why don't you like custom roms, they are the best
Then how can applications, SystemUI's and other staff be ported to ics from jelly bean xperia's?

As mentioned above, try a custom JB ROM. I'm using Super Jelly Bean right now. It's very smooth, and gives you a nice, stock JB experience.
