I'm new here too!
Some custom ROMS don't support the touch pads.
You'r best bet is to go double check the compatibility list for the ROM

I'm "almost" certain its the ROM that doesn't support the touch pads.
To check compatibility go to the page from which you downloaded the rom. Once there you should find a section of updates and know bugs. The update section shows you whats been added and fixed.
The known bugs section shows the issues within the rom.
Read all comments and if then you still haven't found a solution or explanation, post your problem on their page and ask if anyone else is experiencing this issue.

i wonder what custom room does have a working touchpad.. anyway tnx mate.

Markphytons ics has working touchpads.
Sorry for my bad English. It's not my native language.

Main problem is that ICS roms not supporting Xperia Play touchpad. There few roms like Markphytons or CDork ICS unforunatelly touchpad not working in all of games.
Advice try to put different roms and see what works what not.
I tried few ICS and back to Gin2JellyBeans based on 2.3.4, it's stable, fast and touchpads works.
Btw there is threat that could help. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797280

If you want touchpads and gaming use stock or Gin2JellyBean

Also I'm confirming that CM9 RC2 with included FXP kernel supports the touch pads.

Every game I've played on 2.3.3 plays on 4.0.4 with the touch pads, plus more.
I can play MC3, NOVA2 & N64OID with the touch pads. Maybe they recently updated it? IDK but I'm enjoying it!

It is still supposedly being worked on. DeanBoro broke his Xplay and passed the project on to one of the ICX team members. Who is now owkring on it but at a much slower pace as he is working on... you guessed it... ICX.

It works for both ICS and JB because I've used it for both systems.
No problems at all on ICS for CM builds and MIUI.
Now on JB and it continues to work fine and flashes via CWM no problem.
Perhaps you had a bad flash

Best r800x ICS/JB rom for 'minecraft'?

So I just had my xperia play cdma r800x rooted, and installed markphytons Stock ICS. With the JB V3 Adreno drivers flashed I get 32 fps max in Nenamark2. Either I 'supercharge' (Confusing tutorial) or I installed a different ICS rom.

If you only play minecraft you should try a cm9 based rom cause it has better performance than stock based roms.

i agree with u but i love Jellybean ( original , not combo between Jelly and ICS).
Any ROM with Paranoid settings which allow you to set dpi for single apps is awesome. I have compiled paranoid android 2.55 and put link in thread in dev section of you wanna try. Camps is also pretty awesome but my phone got really sluggish with that so I use regular PA.

If You are looking for GB based Roms then X-Gamer v1.6, this will give you an Internal Mem of 355MB, and RAM of nearly 240MB after installation and its stable too. If ICS based Roms then JelleySandwich 7.4. its stable (by stable i mean after installation everything works).
The above Roms i have tested it on LT15i with LB though.
new rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2168609
that new one is beautiful:good:
Cm10 based ROM: RacingBean v3.0 ! Very very Fast and stable ! :good:
We're not allowed to ask this kind of questions. Every rom is good. But it depends on ones needings.
Gb rom is always preferred if u want smoothness.
For interface you must try ics or jb..
Press thanks if I helped.

I just tried using SmartXperia ROM with KTG Kernel on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1748635&highlight=keyboard
Some said it was the most battery efficient ROM, but I tried it because of it's simple instruction and low risk
So far its working fine on my LT15 xperia with minor bugs

Its all about preference use GB rom if you want everything working. Use doomkernel for GB roms its more stable and reliable.
Don't forget you need to unlock your bootloader to flash a kernel

When you want to use a gingerbread Rom use the lupus kernel. This kernel is newer, so it is more stable and you have a better performance.
