I have a rooted stock ROM that hasn't give me any issues up until sprint released the MB1 update. I went to go open Screencast and it gave me a black screen and because unresponsive. I restarted and tried again. Same problem. So I uninstalled Screencast, but when I tried to re-install Screencast, it says insufficient storage. But I have 3GB of storage on internal (working on cleaning it anyways, but this app never took up this much space.) and 18 on external. I am really confused and need some help. I would like to try to avoid resetting but will if absolutely necessary.

Do you have a custom recovery? You can try going in and clearing cache and dalvik cache. Also, in there, you can go to advanced --> fix permissions to try to fix some issues and see if that helps with your issue.

Wow, I honestly didn't think that'd fix it. It sounded a bit more serious than a simple cache wipe would fix. Glad it worked for ya!

I lost my ability to install apps from the market after I flashed this ROM. I've used many ROMs and stock firmwares before this, and it used to work on all of them. I have 1.2 GB free in my device's memory and about 6GB on my SD card.
BUMP - I really need help with this.
I don't know the real problem but you can reinstall market or use market enabler. Or flash other ROM
Got a Headache? It's all in your Head.
Goto Settings - Manage Applications - Market - Clear Cache and Clear Data.
Restart the phone and launch back market.
Still not working.
Guys please I really need help. Does anyone know what's wrong?

if clearing market data doesn't work or reinstalling it, try factory reset. If not reinstall ROM. If still doesn't work, change your ROM

Factory resetting doesn't work either. I've tried re-installing the ROM many times, but to no avail. I really don't want to change my rom, so is there any other way to fix it on this one?
Please reply guys, kinda desperate here.

I have exactly the same issue. Just installed CyanogenMod7. Market wouldn't download for me. Then installed vending-3.1.3.apk which installed the new market. Now get the error that there is not enough room on the device, which is not true. Got heaps!
Mine as been solved...but not sure what the cause was. I tend to think its gapps:
1. Downloaded latest gapps-gb-20110828-signed.zip and installed it on my SD card
2. From 2ndinit deleted cache partition
3. Cleared data/ reset
4. Cleared Dalvic cache
5. Installed above zip from SD card
6. rebooted
My gf has a Wildfire S and she complains about the screen that it turns off during a call at first, (yes i know that it should do this) but then the screen turns on again and it results in that she accidentally hangs up or mutes the microphone. Anyone know about this problem?
Also there seems to be a problem with the internal memory:
she had a problem with this before she updated to latest stock ROM and also after.. When she updated the phone and removed all apps that she had DL'd she had about 20mb free. All apps had already been moved to SD and she had all pics, notification sounds, music, ringtones etc also on the SD.
Please does anyone know how to:
1. Fix the issue with the screen?
2. Fix more storage?
I would prefer to get these issues fixed without rooting since she still has warranty left on the device.
Thx!
Hi, i know its obvious but have you tried clearing the cache for all apps via 'settings-sd and phone storage-make more space'.

Yes for most of them, and if i look at the amount of data that the apps use it makes no sense. There aren't many apps and they dont use much data at all.
I guess you could factory reset as that would wipe everything and then you'd know for sure that an app hadnt gone screwy and wasnt clinging onto lots of cache without it reporting so.
I did read a thread where a logfile was filling rapidly on a few guys wildfire s and using all the space so I will see if I can find it again and I will post the link.

My gf.!!!.. had same problem with my wife's WFS. ...
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S A510e using XDA App
after a factory reset the phone had about 80mb free.. so i guess that problem got solved.. gonna check further for the screen issue.
Hey everyone. I am relatively new to the Android world, especially in terms of rooting and installing custom firmware. I've been running off of nightly builds of CM10.1 for about a month now, and my Google contacts were not syncing the entire time, even though everything else was working fine. On another forum, a user had suggested deleting the "com.android.providers.settings" folder within the data/data directory and then rebooting the phone. This not only didn't fix the problem, but my device is now barely usable. The home button, notifications, lockscreen, quick settings panel, and who knows what else no longer works. Cyanogenmod wouldn't even find an update when searching manually, and I was unable to mount the device to my PC. I was able to re-download a nightly build and upload it to my cloud service and install it from there, but the device is still crippled.
Please feel free to criticize me for being an idiot and not being more cautious before deleting a system folder, but after, any advice as to how repair my device would be greatly appreciated. Outside of what I have done, I am absolutely clueless. Thank you to anyone who takes the time to help me before I do something else to mess it up even further.
i'm assuming you did a full wipe or at least wiped data and both caches when you flashed the update?

I did not, nor did I reinstall the Google Apps package. I was going to that next if I did not receive other instruction on here.
Would you recommend I do that now?

if you dont have a backup to restore, you're going to have to boot into recovery and wipe data, cache & dalvik and flash a rom/gapps.
you can play around with trying to fix this all you want but you'll likely end up doing this reset/reflash in the end.

Anyone else been having this like... CONSTANTLY lately?
I'm pretty sure it refers to Facebook Messenger (it's messenger not messaging, which is how Facebook's Messenger app is spelled). I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I contacted support. I cleared data/cache. I cleared the whole systems cache in recovery. Nothing helps. This thing "stops responding" like 10 times a day. It's unbearable.

I think he was being rhetorical and saying to stop using it.
I'm going to say Uninstall it, reboot, then reboot into Recovery and wipe dalivk/cache and Fix Perms, then reboot System, let the phone boot completely (10mins+), then reinstall said app from Play Store. This is what I had to do with G+ to get it working again.

Fix Perms would be on a custom Recovery, such as TWRP or CWM. If you aren't running one of those (or another custom Recovery), then ignore that part or install one (this is XDA after all).

haha yea i don't root anymore since getting a phone that's actually powerful enough on its own to run the software that comes with it. but xda is still my forum of choice just because it's xda.
well thanks for the advice though, i'll try doing things in the order you mentioned anyway and see if that helps. unless i succumb to buying a note 3 tomorrow haha.

Any luck? I rooted my S2, did a GS2ROMWIPE and installed [WizzedKAT Rom][V2.9 Final !!]. I then restored my backed-up apps using Super Backup.
I had to uninstall and reinstall Facebook as it kept crashing. I decided to also install FB Messenger. At regular intervals now even just when driving and using Google Maps navigation, I get the error "unfortunately, messenger has stopped" and I must click "OK". (screenshot attached).
I've uninstalled Messenger and am yet to receive another error, but I would like to install it again if there is a solution to this error.
EDIT: I followed the steps :

I got to wiping the Dalvik Cache but in Philz Kernel there is no Fix Pemissions. I left that out and rebooted. Then I started getting new errors that "Unfortunately, contacts has stopped". Have since rebooted and Contacts is working again. Will now try reinstalling FB messenger
Fix permissions is starting to be left out of recoveries because it very rarely does anything anyone needs. As for your app im not sure. Its possible the dev needs to update it for use on kk. If you do a clean flash, and only install that app, does it still behave the same? If so its probably a compatibility issue.

Touch wood, but Facebook Messenger seems to have behaved itself in the half-day since reinstalling it after wiping the Dalvik Cache. I can't say why the cache wipe temporarily affected Contacts, but that's fine too after a reboot.
Should the "Messenger Has Stopped" message reappear, I'll look into doing a clean flash to determine compatibility issues of the app, but I never used FB Messenger on my i9100 Stock Rom so I do not have that as a comparison. That said, the OP had issues on an unrooted S3, so the app could be suspect or perhaps me and Polarbearmc had another software issue in common that affected FB Messenger .
Anyhow, if it worked for me, perhaps the OP had to consider temporarily rooting their phone to do this Davlik Cache wipe too. If the OP feeds back that will be nice, for me I'll continue to explore my new WizzedKat 2.9 Rom.
Hey there,
My phone keeps spamming me with an error message that reads "Unfortunately, Google Services Framework has stopped." I can't do anything, because the instant I click OK it shows me another error message. There is a fraction of a second window that I can click on the screen, so I tried clicking REPORT and typing an error message one letter at a time, but I can't send a bug report because Google Services Framework isn't working :C
I have attempted to clear my cache, and it didn't solve the problem. It only started occurring after I restarted my phone.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Edit: This problem seems to be unsolvable. I tried everything you can possibly imagine. The only thing that ended up working for me was a factory reset, but thanks to everyone who helped anyway :/
Some more information would be nice.
What ROM / kernel are you on? What did you do right before the problem started occurring? How exactly did you clear cache? Did you just clear dalvik or the cache partition?
You could go to apps in settings and clear the play services and play store caches separately. Try that first.

I'm using the default ROM/kernal that comes with the Nexus 5X.

Okay, I just tried doing that but when I tap 'Clear Cache' the error message pops up before anything can happen. I filmed a really quick video to show you what I mean. I have a new account so I can't directly link to it. www(dot)youtube(dot)com/watch?v=5Uw5_VyLP40 When I'm not holding a camera I have enough time to quickly press OK and then click the clear cache button, but nothing seems to happen.
What did you do right before the problem started occurring?
My phone was running low on battery, and I was about to go into an exam so I switched it off. I just plugged it in to charge and then booted it once it was at 100%. As soon as I unlocked my phone I got spammed with those error messages.
How exactly did you clear cache? Did you just clear dalvik or the cache partition?
I cleared the cache partition.
Hope this helps
wow thats a pretty strange thing i think that the only thing left for you its just to factory reset it i know its anoying but its the only way i can think of
also you can try first to go and uninstall updates of the app or try disabling it and re enabling it
thats all i can say

I can't actually find an app called 'Google Services Framework', but there are a few similar things. I'll try disabling them first. Also, I was really hoping i wouldn't have to do a factory reset, but I will do it if nothing else works.
