It's possible if you root your phone and use something like stickmount and plug mouse through otg cable. This also works if you want to add more storage with usb flash drives. I've never tried this and this may or may not work with your device.

Whatever input you're using needs to be compatible with the phone/game.
I'm not sure about a mouse - how would the input even be read ? When my tablet reads a mouse, it's basically imitating a finger - it's not going to give you FPS controls like on a computer, it's just going to be a finger - which might be useful but I'm not sure it's what you're looking for.
Some games are compatible with various game pads - that would give you a traditional "controller" - but you'd need to see what games they're compatible with and how (does the analog input end up being basically a d-pad, can you live with that, et cetera).

[Update: New guide for Shadowgun too] PS3 controllers + Galaxy S II (stock ROMs)

[Update]
New video now that I found the guide at Android central about how to use a PS3 controller with Shadowgun - and of course a guide
Hi everyone, thought this might interest a few others here:
Pairing is via the Sixaxis Controller app ($2 on the Market), and there is a guide on pairing here (I made one since the Sixaxis Controller's homepage guide is not very user friendly). Root is required.
Thanks dude.. now I can play flash games on it.

Thanks, might have to give it a try.
Thanks for the info dude.
But I can't think on any game that I could use a sixaxis for...
Shadowgun? Emulators?
PS3 controllers can be used with Shadowgun now too (initially they don't work via bluetooth except for movement):
Can anyone confirm the analog sticks work AS analog sticks? My only gripe with some of these controller apps (bluezime, wiimotecontroller, sixaxis controller) is they currently lack any "true analog" stick support. I certainly can't blame the developers, as they're using the framework they've been given (which in gingerbread is ONLY mapping to keyboard keys), it's still a bit of a pain and something that keeps me from using these controllers as often as I'd like. Even Mario64 requires fine analog control, not the typical "all or nothing" that occurs, even while using the analog stick, as it is converted into digital as a keypress.
If this app "Shadowgun" actually operates as analog (you move the stick a little you tiptoe, move it a lot you run) then I'd love to try it. Otherwise I believe we'll have to wait for ICS for that feature (I believe honeycomb had true analog support as well).
I know the Phonejoy one works full analog, however it took a while for the apps / emulators to be able to recognize the analog inputs (working now).
Most of these require roms that do not support MHL however, meaning if you wanted to connect to your big screen TV and play, you cant. (unless it changed recently)
Also, many only support single player (Like the phonejoy) so you can either have several people playing on your phone screen or one person playing on a big screen.

keyboard + mouse for games

I recently got the Logitech android bluetooth keyboard, and love it. it works great. perfect size / weight, etc. then I've also got just a regular usb mouse...
ANYWAY... is there any way to set up the keyboard and mouse to be used with games like Modern Combat 3, Shadowgun, etc.?
I'd like to be able to use the keyboard to control movement like it would on a desktop. the WASD setup on Modern Combat 3 mutiplayer would rock my socks off.

Any bluetooth mouse that you recommend?

I use the Apple magic mouse with my xoom, other then the slow tracking on 3.1 i havent had an issue with it, with 3.2 and above the tracking speed can be turned up and works really well.

I use the Logitech Android mouse, it's also pretty good. They all pretty much work the same.
I have both of the Logitech Android Mouse and Keyboard. love both of them.
my only complaint is that the android mouse is a little small, but its a portable mouse (baggie included) so its going to be a little on the small size.
on 4.0, there is slight slight lag from screen off to screen on when using the mouse to wake up from sleep/screen off
So you guys are using the mouse to play just like on a PC ?

Unfortunately it doesn't work quite like that; the mouse shows up on the screen but acts like a finger touch when you click. Meaning you would have to click and drag on the screen in order for it to act like a "mouse" in game. I use it mainly for surfing the web or something when its on a desk and in the keyboard folio. Not super practical for gaming.

[Q] Xperia PLAY to Bluetooth Gamepad

Is there an app that can convert the Xperia PLAY into a Bluetooth game pad? I have tried tablet remote and this doesn't quite work. I am looking for something that will make my Xperia's controls mappable on another device in games like dead trigger. This maybe a bit far fetched but I think this would be a cool app to have.

You could always just, well, play Dead Trigger on your Play. It's a bit far-fetched but it just might work
Joking aside, I don't think so :S

I heard BTController can do it, but I don't know if it transfer the hardware buttons as well.
Use BT Controller. The developer created a fix for our circle button too. I use my Play as a controller for emulators being run on my Asus Slider.

[Q] Best app to use it as a PC gamepad?

I was wondering what's the best app out there to use the xperia play as a PC gamepad, including the option to use the accelerometers as a wheel/flight stick/kind of analog pad, obviously the hardware button and, if at all possible, use the analog pads in the xperia play

As far as I know splashtop gamepad is the best in this purpose.
Suggestion
Try Njoy for me works
But njoy doesn't use the accelerometer, right? I was trying using Droidmote, which does, to control Dirt 2 with accelerometers, but I also have to mess with the whateverthatmakesitlooklike an xbox controller on the PC side. I'll probably mess with it some time during the weekend.
set tilt left and tilt right to any left/right button. hope u understand my crap english and hope it helps

Gamepads for the note, remapping keys without root?

Hi
I've been toying with the idea of using the note as amongst other things a sort of game tab.
With that said, I've been researching around the web and found a plethora of gampads both usb and BT.
Now the one thing that seems to be an issue is game support and remapping of keys. Also in alot of cases ( samsung gamepad!!! ) you also have to repurchase the games either from playstore or from developer xxxxxx market .
I've tested a few , amongst them steelseries free, but there is always something missing.
For example I love the size and feel of the steelseries, but the game support is so so, and even games that it does support have missing features/ functions. Best example GTA 3 + steelseries free = no button for horn in the game ( a few missions actually need that)
Now I've considered getting a ps3 controller, but I'm not planing to root my unit anytime soon ( unless the whole knox issue is sorted), but then I'm left with the question is there a way to remap key without root?
Or for that mater are there any other controllers that would allow that without root??
Anyone?
Check out the Nyko Playpad. I BELIEVE with the Nyko Playground app you might be able to do the reconfiguration to your liking.
My review of the pad is here: http://reviews.greenrobotgamer.com/game-review/nyko-playpad-pro-controller/
Can anyone confirm the remapping of nyko is possible without root??
Anyone have anything to add to this?

Try a wired ps3 pad with sixassix or however its spelt its not to problematic but unsure if you can remap without root but I'm sure that will be your best bet its quite easy to remap and build touch profiles just search YouTube and you will be well away
I have a moga controller and use the universal moga driver app. It allows me to use the controller as a virtual keypad (gamepad mode requires root) and it works just fine for my PSOne and SNES games.
I'd also recommend the moga pro. Best gamepad out there. Official and unofficial driver app, for gamepad or keyboard input and complete 360 style layout. Also very nice attachment for smartphones and works with alot of games out of the box and all emulators i tried have a profile for it. Epsxe for example even with analog support.

Hm not sure if I understand correctly what you mean so I'll try
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.obsidianx.android.mogaime
with this app you can use the gamepad in "keyboard mode" meaning you can map any button on the gamepad to any "key" possible on the android keyboard. In this mode all keys are digital buttons though including the analog sticks, because that's the way keyboards work. This works without root.
The app has a gamepad mode which enables full analog support for the sticks but that requires root.
-->BUT there is an official moga app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bda.pivot.mogapgp) which also has two modes which you can switch to with the controller itself. There is a "moga" mode (green light) and a standard HID gamepad mode (orange light). With those two modes you're able to basically play every android game that has built in gamepad support, including full analog sticks. And both the ps1 emulator i use (epsxe) and the N64 emu (Mupen64) work with one of those modes out of the box. I don't even have the universal driver installed anymore because it is not needed in most cases.
Now to your other thing, I believe you mean mapping touchscreen input to the buttons? Bad news: There is no app or controller that allows you to do that without root. As far as I know at least, and I was following the development of those apps quite closely, even worked as a beta tester for this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.poke64738.usbjoygold
Just the info I was looking for
While on the subject, does the sixaxis app work without root? Might be able to get my hands on a ps3 controller.
Strongly considering moga at this point.
btw any experience with the moga pocket or hero (small one) ??

Sixaxis and a PS3 controller work very well, have touchscreen support and allow remapping but you have to be rooted. I have used Sixaxis on my Xoom and S4 (both of which are rooted) but thanks to Samsung and their stupid Knox nonsense, I cannot use Sixaxis on my Note.
I figured that you need root to get touchscreen part working, but do you need root for the rest ( on the sixaxis app) ie will it work at all without root?
Not keen on shelling out 25$ and realising that I might as well bought a moga hero or pocket for a 10 or so more that would to the job just as well.
btw any thoughts on nyko playpad vs moga hero or pocket?

Just read the description of the app on play store. The first line under important says Root required. So yes it needs root. And I'm sure you'll find reviews of those controllers on YouTube.
You can connect a ps3 controller to a android wireless but you will need root privileges. An OTG Cable Could be used to connect the controll with a wire and without root.
