[Q] Kindle Fire 6.3.2 Google play and more - Kindle Fire 2 Q&A, Help and Troubleshooting

Hello everyone! I have a kindle fire 6.3.2, I think it is a 1st generation correctly? I tried a lot to find how to root this kindle but all topics are about kindle's 6.3.1 and earlier. (I try some "adb" but in the final it dont function). In fact I want download and install google play/android free good apps. I dont know if it is possible but you know if have a manner to "minimize" the windows (read a book and can easy go to wikipedia, google translate, note pad and get back to book again)? Sorry for my english. And thanks by the attention.
Rafael

Can't help. This is posted in the kf2 section. I recommend you post in the OTHER kindle fire threads.

HOW TO Run Stock Launcher/Original Kindle Fire setup on a Jelly Bean ROM

I think its safe to say that I have searched all over the internet and this forum looking for the answer. How do I get to the Kindle Fire Market and factory setup while I am running a Jelly Bean ROM still. Basically I have Root access and the Project Jandycane ROM running perfectly fine and normal, but I want to know how I can install the factory Kindle Launcher to read books, get on the Amazon Video market and so on since I have a prime account and want to watch movies again. I know I need to run OTARootKeeper to use the video market but where is an APK or something similar to get back to all that and re-register as a "Kindle Fire" when I want to access these options?
Thanks for any help you may offer
Cheers

As fas as I know, the only way to do this is to setup Dual Booting.
I have not done it yet, but I think there are some walk throughs for it.

Did you ever find out how to do this? I want to do it too but, after a lot of searching, have not found an answer other than dual booting but no dual booting 'how to' for the kf. I'm sure I saw a post in passing about someone switching between the stock launcher and another launcher but can't find the thread again. It may not have been on jelly bean but I thought it was. Frustrated I can't find it!!!
Thank you (and all) for any help you may offer!

Instructions for dual-booting can be found here:

So far it is the only known way to do it.

Can you tell me why the kindle launcher won't run? Is it a specific problem or have devs not been interested in it? If it's the latter, is it appropriate to ask a dev to consider working on it?
That is I use twa_priv's cm10. Would it be offensive to ask him to modify his ROM to run the stock apps? (Hope these aren't stupid questions. :8)

Several people have tried to port the launcher and silk browser but have been unsuccessful. I read somewhere around here that someone got it sort of working, but it's only a vague memory in my mind. There hasn't been much talk about it since.

This might be what your talking about http://gigaom.com/mobile/so-i-turned-my-galaxy-tab-into-a-kindle-fire/
My only interest is the digital magazine feature that comes with the kindle fire. Zinio doesn't offer all of the content I like to read

It's my new signature through Tapatalk. Compared to people like Ichigo, Soupmagnet, and Thepooch, I am nothing. Also quite often much less of a help then I would like. But I pay attention and learn. I don't know about you, but I would rate people like you, @sharonbw, and possibly @Guitarman2010 about on par with me.

That's nice man! Yeah Ichigo sure has a lot of rep. I don't have a KF, but I do try and help out in device forums other than my own. Help out in the A2 forums, and now have started with this one. Already am helping out with development for a (as of yet) threadless Motorola Fire. XDA is awesome, and you learn a lot on the way, no?
Hope I'm not intruding by helping out here?

Can you tell us the steps that you took to root in detail?
What version is your KF? Is it 6.3?
What are you running on your computer?
Did you use the original cable that came with the KF?

Thanks for all the responses Here's a lot more information -
Kindle fire first gen 6.3.2
Used the kindle fire utility found here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399889
Running windows 7
I first opened the drivers.bat file, then confirmed all the drivers were installed correctly by going on computer, properties, devices, and then checking the drivers. Then went on the utility's main .bat file and saw that it said that it was online and the boot thing said 4000. So then I went ahead and did number 2 for the root. And then I let it do its thing and everything seemed to go smoothly. It said it was finished and that it was now rooted, but it is not.
The kindle fire doesn't come with a usb so I bought one.
Something weird is that I thought it was rooted at first so I used the utility to install the google apps and now I can use google play and all the google apps, but still no root!
Another weird thing is that now it starts up with the same fast boot screen as it used when rooting. However, the device works fine.

Here's your problem. The 6.3.2 update disables root, and KFU 9.6 won't work. Try this one:

Ok I tried that and the exact same thing happened. It said that it worked, but I still don't have root access.

I am using both root checker (from google play) and es file explorer. I also tried to use a screenshot app which requires root and it didn't work either.

I tried a screenshot app and it said "device rooted will use superuser." Then it crashes and says "execute su failed permission denied."

Could it be that superuser didn't install? Idk, and I'm just grasping at straws here, but it seems like that might be the case.

That sounds like it might be right. Do you know of any way to manually install it? Thanks for all your help

[Q] How do I get my Kindle Fire HD 8.9 back to factory default?

For starters, I apologize if any of this sounds like I don't know what I'm talking about because frankly, I don't know what I'm talking about.
Recently (this Christmas) my mother got me a Kindle Fire HD 8.9". I decided to follow a guide from a youtube user and put a second bootloader (twrp) and CM 10.1 on my Fire, only to find that half of the apps didn't work. I couldn't watch youtube videos or netflix, or even read books through the kindle app.
This made me angry because here I am freaking out trying to get my Kindle back to factory defaults so I can enjoy it again.
I've looked at countless guides on how to do this, but none were clear and all of them required big downloads that I'm not even sure would work.
Basically, I wiped the CM android os with TWRP, and I'm at the TWRP screen.
I downloaded the 8.4.6 amazon kindle update from the Amazon website and adb pushed it onto my sdcard. This didn't work; the Amazon update file I downloaded was a .bin, so I converted it to a .zip which apparently made my Kindle unable to open it and update.
I am able to get my Kindle into fastboot mode, but I have no clue where to go after this. Can someone please help? I just want my Kindle back the way it was.
Thanks
Use kindle fire first aid to restore it, though I have no idea what you are talking about with cm 10.1, sounds like you downloaded the wrong gapps because the stuff you mentioned works fine on cm 10.1 for me, you could also try cm 11 since it's newer.

You can't push an Amazon OS onto TWRP to flash it. It don't work like that.

Rooted Fire 8.9.... now what?

Hello everyone. I've got an old Fire 8.9" tablet I'd like to repurpose for one of my kids. My thought process is I can get more entertainment apps and games via the Google Play store vs. what Amazon offers, so I figured either put a ROM on and get more of a stock (albeit older?) Android experience or somehow figure out how to get the Play store on the tablet? The tablet seem to be too old for the Fire Tool Box to work, so the first thing I did was root. Success! .... Now what?
Sorry to ask such a beginner question, but a lot of searches both on this forum and the web in general are returning old results with busted links, and I'd like to make sure I'm doing this process how it should be done TODAY, not just in 2013, etc. My Kindle is currently running Amazon 8.5.1.
Please and thank you!

Hey, now you're rooted you can either flash cyanogen 10/11/12/13/14.1
Ot you can flsh another custom rom
Bear in mind this device is really old now and will be really slow + support for the roms etc is almost non existent
Fire tool box isn't compatible with the Jem (as you know) but you can debloat stock rom using the pm disable - k - - user 0 "com.nameofpackage" commands
I always recommend staying with stock rom and root/debloat device but in this case (Jem) I would say temasek 13.1 build is best with playstore
Regards
If you need any help pm me, I have kindle first aid, all the stuff required to unbrick, update, return to stock rom on my cloud if you need it.

Please help - Rooted 2015 5th Generation Kindle Fire corrupt OS and missing apps.

I have a 2015 5th Generation Kindle Fire that was rooted (way back when using that SuperTool) and then I think the Fire OS was corrupted. I put another on it (I forgot what I did), but I can't get that one to work right either. Also this device is missing the actual Amazon Kindle e-reader app that makes it a Kindle and even though I have forced other "Kindle" apks onto it and also tried downloading the Kindle app from Google Play on it, it has all been to no avail.
How do I revert to the original Fire OS? I feel like that might be a better stating point to try to fix this thing.
