[Q] HDR mode saves 2 pictures? - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

What can I do to just save the HDR photo and not the other one? It always saves two and is annoying.

I'm curious to know the same thing as well.

I guess that's cos a HDR pic becomes too big in size to share. So, my assumption is that, it takes one in hi-def and one in standard so the user may just share the standard one. Well, not many users I know know how to reduce the size of pic right on phone itself.

Browsing photos on Desire - blurry pics

Has anyone else noticed this? When you go to Photos on your Desire and browse them - even if full screen - they never show up sharp, but bit blurry. If you zoom in/out on them they soon sharpen up. Weird.
Just wondering if its an issue with my phone or general issue.
Sorry few posts this morning... Its been a Desireble morning.

There's an explanation for that..
http://phandroid.com/2010/04/13/images-look-blurry-on-android-2-1-theres-a-reason-for-that/
Thanks for the link. I agree with the many opinions that this is an issue with resolution, NOT color depth. The pics are blurry - not sharp.
Hope this can be fixed soon. I use the Photos gallery to show pics to friends etc and it doesnt look impressing.

I think you're mistaking the Cooliris gallery you find on stock 2.1 with the Photo gallery on the Desire which is HTC's own app for Sense UI.
Look up Cooliris and Nexus One.

My mistake. I've not got my Desire yet (Roll on, Monday) so just thought they'd be using the same gallery app.
If you find any information on this matter though, keep us posted.
To the OP, could you elaborate? Are these pictures you took on the phone camera? Did you sync them from your PC and if so did you just drag and drop them onto the SD or did you use some syncing software i.e. Doubletwist? Did you download them from the phones browser and if so was it over Wifi or 3G?
I just sent over a large photo (4656x3600) and it's sharp in preview mode and zoomed in. I synced some photos using Doubletwist and it reduced the size of the photos without me knowing...so it wasn't the phone. Pictures I've taken with the phone are also fine.
Its most noticeble with photos taken with the Desire camera. If you zoom in or out they sharpen, otherwise they are bit fussy.
Please check if the zooming does any difference on yours?
I'n not having this problem at all with my Desire.

Yes, I see what you're talking about. The picture isn't shown full resolution until you do some zooming in or out.
I must say, personally it's not that big a deal, and I can't seem to find any way to change that behaviour.

Yes, but that just degrades the visual quality WAY more than the HTC photo app.

It does?? I heard it is a great app...
I'm not having any such problem with either the photos app or the Gallery3D app
They show blurry as the system is showing a lower quality thumbnail that it has saved so that browsing between them is quicker. Once you start zooming in it loads the full size image and it becomes sharper.
any update on this , as a photographer i have my portfolio
on my Desire handy to show my pictures to anyone that is interested..
but it always take me to zoom them in a little to render them sharp which is a pain in the but when wanting to show them off in a quick manner...
if not any good alternatives then the gallery...

[Q] Camera problems

Hello!
I need some assistance regarding the HOX stock camera app.
You see, the photos i tace with the One X turns out really bad.
My old (old, old, old) iPhone 3GS kicks this one's ass.
The images turns out grainy and low res. It's set to 8mpx and all settings are stock.
Now i thought it was a hardware problem but when trying other camera apps souch as Camera Zoom FX they turn out pretty great.
The stock camera app pictures is about 1.5-1.7 mb while the Camera Zoom fx are at a natural ca 3.5mb.
Photo taken with stock camera app: 8mpx: http://oi45.tinypic.com/n2odar.jpg
Photo taken with Camera Zoom FX, 8mpx: http://oi48.tinypic.com/i5ver8.jpg
HOX stock: http://oi49.tinypic.com/21dizcx.jpg
Camera Zoom FX: http://oi48.tinypic.com/315cvg0.jpg
What could be causing this problem, or should I simply return it?
Do you have the stock camera app 8mp set to 16:9 or 4:3 format? I noticed with my own testing that the 16:9 format uses less of the sensor and you dont get full 8mp images resulting in lower image size. The 4:3 format is getting me 2.8mb+ image size.

You seem to have already answered your first question, and as to whether to return it or not because the stock camera app over compresses images, well, up to you.
Stock cam app compresses so you can have burst mode. Third party apps don't have the same speed as stock camera, but compensates with quality. And no, even with the stock app, the 3GS camera is worse.
harlz: I've tried both. 4:3 gives me a slightly better image.
I'ts strange thoug. Yesterday I rebooted the phone and took a picture, the screen was black for about 3 sek and then it took a photo that was just amazingly good. I took about tree more great pictures that ended up on ca 4mb. But now. I'm down to about 2mb and the images just looks like crap.
What could be causing this? Is anyone experiencing something like this?

Lucky Shot - who knows what it is?? NOT SmartBurst

Does anyone know what the Lucky Shot feature is?!?!? I'm the only one in the world trying to figure it out apparently. I'm wondering if it is on both 6P and 5X. I know that 5x has 120fps slow motion, and no burst mode. but this Lucky Shot thing has me confused, apparently it is NOT the same thing as SmartBurst.
from Nexus enginners Q&A on reddit:
"We've done a bunch of things to provide image stabilization: 1. The Nexus 6P/5X has a large 1.55um pixel camera and the amount of motion blur due to hand-shake is lower when you have large pixels. 2. We have a feature we call "lucky shot" internally. When you take a picture, behind the scenes, we select the best of 3 bursts of images. 3. When you use video, we have optic-flow-based image stabilization. 4. When you use SmartBurst, we select the best image from the burst (for example a shot with eyes open)."
It just means when you take a picture it actually takes 3 and chooses the best for you automatically.. It's not a setting or anything.. Just something that happens behind the scenes
cool, got it, but does it work on the 5X or just the 6P.
Both

I like this implementation better than the Moto X's one. It gets cluttered with double takes of pics, thus having me to look through them to see which to delete. I trust Google to pick the best pic
But I think only HDR+ uses this feature.
Because Google advertised HDR+ with exactly this feature.
http://googleresearch.blogspot.de/2014/10/hdr-low-light-and-high-dynamic-range.html?m=1
"HDR+ also begins the alignment process by choosing the sharpest single shot from the burst. Astronomers call this lucky imaging, a technique used to reduce the blurring of images caused by Earth's shimmering atmosphere."

Photo quality

Say "cheese", then rate this thread to express how photos taken with the Moto E4 Plus come out. A higher rating indicates that photos offer rich color (without over-saturating), sharp detail (with all subjects in-focus), and appropriate exposure (with even lighting).
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

I'm not a big user of phone cameras. I never use any settings. I just open it, take a picture, and move on. If I can take a picture of what I want, and tell what it is later, and be able to enjoy looking at it, I'm happy. This camera does it's job well. No complaints.
I'm ugly, but I took this with the e4 on lineage.

Hi,
I have same problem with poor quality pictures and discovered and installed a new app from PlayStore. It is about FreeDCam and for me it makes a huge difference when taking pictures.
Also may be opened with double click on Power button.
Wish you all best.
Hi. I have this phone. It is from a family member. I've updated it to version 113. I've rooted it. all good. but in the rear camera, the maximum resolution is 5mpx. and in the front chamber, the maximum resolution: 13mpx.
that is, the reverse of what it should be. and in addition, the photos with the rear camera are out of focus.
I will try to go back to the rom stock, because before rooting and unlocking bootloader, it was fine.

Camera button grey out occasionally

Hi all,
I have experienced camera button grey out and won't allow me to take photos for about 10 seconds on several occasions. Basically I can only take photo after several tens of second when the button is back.
Anyone is experiencing the same and knows how to reolsve it?
Thank you.
My guess is you are taking HDR+ Photos, right? If you take a lot of them they need to be processed and in the meantime Camera is disabled. Seen it on the 6P quite regularly, on the XL 2 never.
Same here so I decide not to use HDR+, photo quality more or less the same.
Yes the HDR+ is on as per default setting. Didn't know it has such limitation. Thanks for the confirmation.
May need to sacrifice snapping speed as HDR+ is really beautiful.

I never turned on the manual HDR+ settings. I let the app decide and just enjoy the results.
