[Q] GNex touch screen - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hello,
I find out that on the right and bottom edge of the touch screen, does not work properly. some times i have to tap more than one time to make it recognize the tap. and also when i pull notification bar down sometimes i cant send it back up. it gous up for half centimeter and comes back down. (as if it were magnetized ) i have to slide it up multiple times to close it. i tried several roms, but the issue is still there.
so i am asking what is wrong with my phone? how can i calibrate my screen. what solution do you suggest?

some gnex have a touchscreen issue. a couple that i have had had bad issues with the softkeys being unresponsive. unfortunately from what i've seen, google has not come up with a solution to this. in your case, it just may be a bad digitizer or something else touch related. i would try going back to complete stock and relocked and see what that does.

Keyboard/Touchscreen Help

My evo is acting up, hasn't been activated for 30 days yet so I can't file an insurance claim on it, wondering if there is something I can do to try and make it work. My touchscreen goes through spurts where it acts funky. The V G and Y keys don't respond to any touch and the whole area around the keys seems dead. when I hit either of the keys the screen picks up the key to the left of it. Now it doesn't always do this, just sometimes. I can rub the screen on my shirt and the keys will almost always go back to working. When this happens sense also acts up. Swiping to change screens doesn't work. Sometimes the screen hangs halfway between screens and stays there. Also with the browser when I try to scroll the browser will zoom almost like there is another finger on the screen doing pinch to zoom. It seems like a software problem because also at this time all of my sense widgets get messed up.
Is there a way to re-flash the stock rom back to the evo and start over? Hard reset doesn't do anything to alleviate the problem.
Don't chance it. File a claim.

Touch screen stops working at random intervals until i refresh the screen

So... I replaced my perfectly working glass screen the other day, just to change the color
All went well it seemed.
But now, the touch stops responding completely at random intervals. Sometimes after a minute, sometimes after an hour.
All i have to do to get the touch back is lock and unlock.
I updated my rom, no go. I cleared cache and dalvik, no go.
Any ideas? :silly: thanks
I went to developer tools and enabled the option that lets me see the touches...
it seems when my phone stops doing the touches, its because there are like 8 different locations on the screen that are being "touched".
I messed something up obviously... but it seems to go away when the touches are reinitialized...
Is there an app out there that will automatically refresh the touches automatically? That would fix my issues...
I just now found out how to replicate the issue on command!
If i press down hard on the screen, it stops responding to my touch commands.
at least now i know how NOT to get stuck... just have to hold it gently
I think the reason was because i didn't put enough glue on the glass screen, thus its too close to the digitizer... and when i touch too hard the glass touches the digitizer and causes it to go all outta whack. mebbe...
i'ma put more glue on it and find out though.
thanks for all of your help so far though, you guys have been a great audience.
I did the exact same thing and have the same results. If I don't press too hard it works. Any solution would be nice

[GT-I9195] Touchscreen problems

Hey there,
sometimes after using phone for days, touch screen dont respond correctly on some specific placed on screen.
for example if i hold down at one point on the screen screen is thinking i press also like 1cm down and jumps up and down.
i will wait to re-produce the problem and post a screen from touchscreen with debug menu *#0*#
happens at least 3 times for now with multiple firmware, since a restart always is the solution i think its a samsung related software problem in stock rom.
Did you apply any screen protectors? Its a common issue with cheap ones
No, i dont have any. Also the its not always at the same position.

[Digitizer / Touchscreen] First unresponsive areas, now full screen no touch register

Hi all,
I have had a strange problem occur to me since yesterday. At first I could no longer pull down the notification menu. After enabling `show touch` in the developer options I could see that my touch would no longer register on the top ~1cm of the screen.
Then it became worse and now the touch screen does not work around 98% of the time across the entire screen. So doing anything on this phone is either impossible or it takes for ever. I have to press and press and press and sometimes it registers, but mostly it doesn't.
I took it apart and made sure all the contacts were still attached, put it back together again and for a few minutes the touch worked perfectly again, apart from the top 1cm. But now it has gone back to being nearly completely unresponsive.
I also tried a factory reset, going back a few nightly builds of CM13 and so forth ... nothing has helped.
Is there a fix for this, or is my digitizer broken, meaning I'll have to either replace the entire screen, the digitizer if possible or just get a new phone and bin this G3?
It hasn't had any tumbles or falls, nor any water contact.
Thanks.

Touchscreen Occasionally not responding

Greeting,
I have a weird issue where occasionally after I unlock my phone, my screen doesn't respond to touches.
The phone works and responds to physical button presses but not touch.
Not sure exactly when it started happening but I've noticed this since last week.
Any idea what might be causing this?
I'm running Android Pie 52.0.A.3.202.

Got the same issue on 52.0.A.8.50. Usually opening the app drawer then hitting back solves it - otherwise none of the virtual buttons work.
Searching the web it seems touch screen issues are pretty common on this phone. I'm a bit surprised there isn't more being said here about it. Some experience delayed response, dead areas and no response at all. I have all those issues. Yes I am on the latest firmware. I bought the phone used with a cracked screen. I checked it out and everything seemed fine. I didn't use the phone, just set it aside til replacement screen came. I should have used the phone to thoroughly check it out but didn't want to go through the set up process as I was thinking of B/L unlock and root. New screen came, put it on and seemed to be working fine then screen would be unresponsive. I did factory reset, software update, software repair, went into settings and made sure sure everything was good there, nothing helped. The center of the screen (it's low and a bit off center) is pretty much dead. To open launcher I have to touch and hold near the top of the display. Touch and hold apps is tricky. Usually the app just opens. When I do get it to hold, I can't drag it anywhere. Also, icons in the drop down menu cannot be rearranged or edited. I can swipe up/down, side to no problem. Whenever touch goes dead completely, the home, back and minimize buttons go grey. Tapping the power button gets them back functioning again. . Function test fail. Free draw lets me make a few seconds of scribbles then freezes. The x and rectangle block draw does the same. Tapping power button does nothing to unfreeze either. The color test pass even the block one where you toggle on/off sections of the screen in blocks. It's really weird. First impression would lead me to the screen but it really acts like a software issue. From what I've read so far this phone uses two different display drivers. I not seen anything on how to change that and it would more than likely mean B/L unlock and root, which I'm not against doing. I would just like to know definitively if it's hardware or software. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Maybe the Screen Connector wasn't 100% clean.
Or not only the screen is damaged.
I heard that the touch problems are mostly fixed with PIE. The closed source clearpad touch driver is..... Hoping Q gives us an further updated driver.
You still get sometimes ghost touches on higher workload or if the keyboard app is slow, but if you have dead spots the hardware sounds damaged.
