Love me some,CM10 but I can never get Google voice to set up my voicemail forwarding number.
When I type in the code from Google voices website I get the error "call forwarding connection problem or invalid mmi code". I know this code is correct as I have used it after flashing other roms.
When I go into settings and change the carrier from my phone provider to google voice I get the error "couldn't retrieve and save current forwarding number settings. Switch to new provider anyways?" I say yes and in get the error "couldn't change the forwarding number. Contact your carrier if this problem persists."
I'm at a loss. I have uninstalled app and restarted phone. I have removed the phone via Google voice website and still no dice. I see others with Google voice that get it to work but mine is always jacked up when running CM10.
I have never gotten this phone to work with Google voice voicemail doesn't matter what ROM your on stock aosp or modded my artix and gs2 worked just fine

I have flashed many rooms and they all work except CM10. I guess all the others have been touchwiz based....

Which ROM (ICS or JB, doesn't matter that much) is stable, and supports correct Google Voice voicemail and call log display please? I thought CM10 was the one, but ....
In order for it to work you need to set it up manually, in the phone application hit menu and go to the call forward option, once there manually put your Google voice number in the forward when busy, unanswered and unreachable and it should work.

Make sure wifi calling is not turned on (turn off wifi)
I just successfully updated to CM11 and I no longer have a voicemail app and I can't seem to find a way to check voicemail (I left myself one, so I know one should be there.) I tried reading and searching, but couldn't find anything.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Ok, well I found the voicemail apk , but now I can't stop getting the 9016 text. URGH! Looking around it looks like blacklisting is the best option? I don't use google voice, but I do you hangouts for sms.

I've never had any luck getting a VM app to work on any of the custom ROMS I've tried as it would work on TouchWiz. To access my VM on Sprint I call my own phone number. You can add a one touch dial widget to dail your phone number to make it a bit more automated.
I'd rec Google Voice. Works like a charm all the time...and isn't feature bricked like Sprint VVM. Oh yea and works on any ROM.
Thanks for advice It helped me, i switched to visual voicemail app though
I searched for this and found no answer. Sorry for yet another question thread but the issues just seem to keep adding up with this phone.
I'm having trouble launching the visual voicemail. When I hit "Next" to setup the inbox, it gives me an error box with the following message "Your subscription cannot be completed at this time. Please visit my.t-mobile.com or call 611. "
Google searches suggest that I don't have it on my line - the my.t-mobile shows that both my Note III and my wife's have the feature included. Google also suggested force stopping and clearing data for the app. Did that. No difference.
I'm rooted on stock deodex with lean kernel. My wife is fully stock, no root or anything. Neither of us are able to use this damn voicemail thing.
any ideas?
All solved now...T-Mobile in their infinite wisdom had failed to initialize the voicemail boxes on either phone. So no wonder the regular or visual voicemails weren't working.

do you still have stock messaging app? VMM relies on the stock messaging app (not hangouts) to know when a new message comes in. Or, you can try Google Voice. it is a better experience, in my opinion. Note: I am on TMO, and know that Sprint is the same.
Yeah I still do. It was T-Mobile being so good at what they do they never activated the voicemail boxes on either phone when we activated the lines :silly:
Now it's all working. My wife wanted Google Voicemail but it hadn't worked for her. Probably because of this same issue.
Thanks.
I've got an At&t M9 flashed to the Dev version and no matter what I do I can't get google voice to work. I have followed all the instructions on the website, using the IMI codes, etc. Each time it fails. Is this a problem with the M9?

I just picked up an M9 yesterday, I can't get Google voice to work either. Did you ever figure it out, or what did you end up using for voicemail?

I'm using 5.1 ROMs and nobody has the At&t VVM app yet That I know of anyways?
I tried two other ROMs and GV doesn't seem to work on any of them.
When y'all say y'all can't get GV working are y'all speaking specifically of the voicemail or voicemail to text part? I have an AT&T M9 and GV works for me, including texting. I have voicemail set to use my carrier voicemail, so I can't be sure of it working properly.
AT&T VVM app is in the play store.

It used to work for me too, but no more. I think it's an att issue and nothing to do with a particular rom. Att won't take the mmi code to enable gv. I've contacted att support, but they couldn't figure it out and actually made it so no voice mail worked, so once I got att visual voice mail working, I decided to leave well enough alone.
If on a 5.0.X rom, I think you can get the att app from the play store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.att.mobile.android.vvm
Edit. Just read your on 5.1. Fortunately for me I backed it up before I upgraded. I've attached the app folder. Hopefully it will work for you.

Thanks!
I tried flashing it in TWRP, but realized it's just a zipped file.....I then extracted it and installed the apk..... What do I do with the other files?
It installed and let me record my greeting, and even sent me the confirmation "test" message......But I am having problems now when people call me and it goes to voice mail, it says something like "This call could not be completed, please try you call again later". Do I need those other files somewhere in my phone?
[Question]
Do you need to register your new phone with Google Voice? I've used GV on my M8 for the past 18 months, or so..... Is it still linked to that phone, or just my number?

Check use a file explorer to look in data\app\com.att.mobile.android.vvm. Installing the apk might have created the folder structure for you. Otherwise, just copy the contents of the folder i uploaded to that location and reboot. That's probably NOT the problem, but would eliminate that as a possibility.
As I said before, I have had so many problems with ATT support as it relates to VM. Once, after i was on with support, the guy did something and my voicemail didn't work at all. Other times, they set it up so all of my calls got forwarded to ATT vm without even ringing my phone.
AT&T VVM is good enough. I do miss the transcription service with GV though.

[UPDATE]
After spending about 2 hours on the phone, spread out over 5 calls, to At&t.... I have working At&t VVM using the extracted apk you gave me!!
The first 4 support people kept resetting my voicemail, but the M9 has the new "HD Voice" system, they were missing this step in the reset and it was still forwarding to my old Google Voice number, saying it was not an active number. Once he reset it, I rebooted my phone and they made a test call and it all worked.

sounds very similar to my experience except you ended up getting a lot more information than i did.
Anybody else having issues with visual voicemail not working until you refresh the app? I get a vm notification from the device saying new voicemail on sim 1 or sim 2 but it doesnt transfer automatically to the visual voicemail app.
How did you get visual voicemail to even work?
It may not appeal to you, but I switched to Google voice some years ago , and have had a better experience ever since. Even if just for now, you might set it up until T-Mobile visual voicemail is fixed...
shouldn't have to use google voice. i guess ill contact at&t about it. it must have something to due with the dual sim on the device.

I could never get the AT&T VM app to register on 3.1.2 or 3.1.3, but it seems to be working fine on 3.2. Very odd and possibly fluke, but it's working for me.
