Black Screen after Jelly Bean update

When I update to Jellybean 4.2 on Houston's or CarbonRom I just get a black screen after a split second of the LG boot logo and won't boot. I've been using CWM 14.4.7 to flash the Rom's. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I can flash 4.1.2 ok just not 4.2. Any ideas?

What model do you have?
You have to downgrade to initial version of ICS and go from there. The newer ICS ota doesn't let you boot non stock roms.

This is so important. 90% of problems I've read about were caused by this. How can we make this common knowledge?

Yeah it would be nice if it was mentioned in the developer area.
So do I have to go back to stock with the .tot file in the stock Roms thread or is there a flashable .zip somewhere? Seems the .zip files say custom stock rom from what I can see.

Go here and get the oldest ICS kdz and flash it: http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?mod=Lg+Optimus+G&paese=Tutti&id_mod=20
You will need the KDZ updater which can be found in one of the guide threads here.

So i tried the KDZ method and just got stuck in a boot loop. Then I tried the tot method with LGNPST and same thing. My phone just hangs at the LG logo. What now? Followed the instructions to a T.

I got it, I went back and did the KDZ method a second time and then I found that if you hold down and power you get to do a hard reset. Did that and the clouds parted and the sun came through!
Update: Could't root because I couldn't find a kdz file old enough. So I used the LGNPST to do another restore and it worked this time. I did this to get me back to the LGE97310E so that I could get it to Root. Got the .tot file in this section of the forum.

I am in the same boat with my Telus E973. No matter what - black screen.
I reset the phone to the initial ICS (KDZ file from the link mentioned here.)
Got the phone to boot fine
Root
Unlock with FreeGee
Install latest CWM
Do a backup
From this point on I cannot install ANY custom ROM. Always black screen.
Phone boots fine after restoring of backup.
I have several phones and this LG is proving to be a little PITA.
Other ideas?

Which version of KDZ did you flash to get back to stock?

For KDZ the oldest Telus one I could find is 10g which as it turns out is too new! I ended up flashing 10e with LGNPST. All good now

Yeah that is the same thing I had to do. Couldn't find an old KDZ file anywhere for Telus.

There is no 973 10e available on that site. Oldest one is 10f which is already too new. This is why many people are so confused and the whole process is actually rather simple.

Whats the details on your phone?
Model/Carrier/Original Stock Firmware before any modding?

Have any of you tried using the following method?
"htt p://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=IMEIHERE"
Replace IMEIHERE with the imei of your phone.
It will spit some url with the latest KDZ file. For example in my case, it's the H version. "htt p://csmgdl.lgmobile.com/swdata/WDLSW/LGE973/ABLMBK/E97320H_00/E97320H_00.kdz"
and I needed the F version. Playing with the url, I got it at "htt p://csmgdl.lgmobile.com/swdata/WDLSW/LGE973/ABLMBK/E97310F_00/E97310F_00.kdz"

I just saw the one for your phone from the website posted above by Elisha. The url is "htt p://csmgdl.lgmobile.com/swdata/WDLSW/LGE973/ATLSBK/E97310G_00/E97310G_00.kdz" -> by replacing the G to E I was able to get a file: "ht tp://csmgdl.lgmobile.com/swdata/WDLSW/LGE973/ATLSBK/E97310E_00/E97310E_00.kdz"
notice the TLS (Telus?) replacing the BLM (Im from bell mobility?) compared to my url posted before.

As stated above you're going to need to backdate to an earlier firmware version, where you are at H you need E version kdz file to get to ICS before going to 4.2.2 based builds...
Try what Iv4n35 said above in post 17 with your IMEI.

I will tell you how I flashed my E973 from Bell with the "[ROM] *Unofficial* AOKP 4.2.2 [Mar-13-13]" by Haze028 in case you need it any time.
This steps are gathered from all around this website so I take no credit at all.
Backup all your files, you might loose them in the process.
Downloaded the KDZ stock version that BELL shipped with LGOG (E97310f) htt p://csmgdl.lgmobile.com/swdata/WDLSW/LGE973/ABLMBK/E97310F_00/E97310F_00.kdz
Followed this instructions to flash the KDZ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34558759&postcount=1
Used this root kit http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38014504&postcount=20 and instructions to root
Installed freegee, backed up EFS (just in case), extracted it from /sdcard/freegee to a safe place in my computer.
Run freegee, "Unlock my Optimus G", I chosed CWM
Downloaded the zip from http://d-h.st/M6N of a newer CWM recovery.
Downloaded the "Build 6" and "Gapps03-01-13" from the Download box from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36682883&postcount=1
Uploaded them to the internal sd card of my phone from my computer (total of 3 zip files: cwm recovery, rom and gapps).
Reboot in recovery mode (Vol Up + Power button)
"Install zip from sdcard", selected the newer CWM in my phone, reboot system in recovery mode again (the new CWM will show up)
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache
"Install from zip" and select aokp-31313-geeb.zip (this is the Build 6)
"Install from zip" and select gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip (this are the Google apps).
Reboot system
Enjoy
Maybe there are some steps that didn't need to be done there, I'm actually new with flashing but it's what I understood I had to do. And in the end those steps worked perfectly for me.

You dont need root, custom recovery or unlocked bootloader for this.

FreeGee installs a recovery.
why you would Flash a KDZ which is not for your Phone?

flashing e975 kdz to f180l is possible but be reminded that your network signal may become problematic like my phone, im still stuck with ics 4.0.4 because whenever i update to f180l 4.1.2 via ota my network signal is lost, already tried flashing e975 rom and f180l baseband but to no avail..

i used freegee to unlock my bootloader apparently. my phone was working fine until last night when i was oncall, my battery died and when i plugged in the phone it just got stuck at the LG boot logo and would not boot into android. I managed to get the phone into download mode. what do i do now?

the links for the official kdz for korean optimus g in forum not working. i need the f180k version. i saw in the freegee folder it made several backups in the form of .img files. One of which is recovery, can i flash that? if so how?

How to get recovery mode:
Power off your phone, then press "Power + Vol Up + Home" at the same time
or
if you have USB connected (debug option turn on in your phone), issue "adb reboot recovery"
PS: TWRP sometimes has touch problem (still don't know why), you need to use power off method to get recovery mode (it works almost).
How to restore your stock recovery
(I am assumming your backup recovery (stock) image in /sdcard)
adb shell
su
dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery

Touch is weird. I think there was a problem with screen resolution
and I cannot flash F240S's TWRP.
F240k's works just fine, though

yes, i know TRWP has touch issue in some cases, i need power off and using hardware keys to recovery mode, then 90% will ok
for the moment , thecubed also looking thjs issue....

for flashing permanent recovery has both good and bad side:
pro: we can restore any issue by twrp or cwm backup
con: we cannot OTA update directly until we flash back stock recovery

make sure you have adb drivers installed correctly
check driver, reboot PC + mobile and re-try
PS: test
adb devices
you should see your device ID, otherwise your adb drivers in pc is not working

no... it sounds L is different.......
my founding, when comparing K & S are identical binary
but L is totally different from K or S (either TWRP or CWM)
it sounds strange...to me, if the LOKI using the the same signature for all KR version
If you can use CWM on K or S, I think it is ok
can you test for me, try flash gk-twrp-f204S , and see whehter you can use it?

The thing is in software information menu my software version is F180S20n i need your help which KDZ file i should use? and is it safe to convert my phone ? like many people here have issues like no signals etc..

is it still risky if i flash a rom on my f180 and have signal problem? i saw few post here that people having problem like no signals after flashing?
can u recomend a stable,smooth and fast rom?

I convert my f180l to e975 successfully. Now am using avatar rom 4.2.2 nightly. I recommend you a external link.keep in mind about your model s/k/l. I use Europe open kdz from here.

Yes I know but keep in mind about s. Coz if there is any problem S help you allot for flashing your own baseband. I recommend you European open kdz.but I am not responsible for any thing. Do it on your own risk. Its not danger all the time coz many people do that successfully.

instead of kdz e975 firmware, why not try to flash a rom directly from f180 fw? maybe in this manner you won't have any signal prob. HTH

i tried to flash ""miui_f180_rogue_4.1.4_4f763bb611_4.2"" to my f180s but this error comes every time assert failed: get prop("ro.product") == "e75" || get prop("ro.product") == "e75"

wooooooooooohoooooooooooooo converted my phone successfully flashed my modem img and got back the signals... thank u all for ur guidance

PHASE ONE (BACK UP PHASE)
1- made efs backup using "g tool pro"
2- downloaded "Android Terminal Emulator" from playstore
open emulator in phone wrote
su
dd if=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/modem of=/sdcard/modem.img
after some seconds this came out :
131072+0 records in
131072+0 records out
67108864 bytes transferred in 15.229 secs
then :
exit
exit
after that i checked sdcard but there was no img file...
then i open file manager from the phone and there it was my precious

1) Charge your phone at least 50 %
2) Save your data (photos , music, documents, etc. )
3 ) install on your phone framaroot and get root acces
4 )install Root Explorer
5) Make a Hard reset (turn off the phone,when it's turned off,hold down volume "-" and then press the power button , the text will appear , confirm the process by pressing twice the power button , the phone automatically reboots )
6) Turn off the phone
7) Install all the drivers
8) Extract the KDZ flasher
9) Run the file ( in the extracted folder ) msxml.msi
10) Connect your phone in "Download" mode ( simultaneously hold down the volume "-" and "+" and plug into your computer the USB- cable; it should appear a gray box on a black background where should be written download mode)
11 ) Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe ( for windows "seven " as an administrator ) , in the box choose - 3GCQT; in the window phonemode - DIAG
12) Click on the blank line with a folder , select where your firmware(kdz) is , click "Launch software Update"
13 ) Wait 10-15 minutes , when the phone is flashed , click "Exit"
14) Turn off the phone, do a Hard reset ( see item number 6)
15 ) install again Framaroot and Root Explorer, get root acces
16) Reboot your phone
17) your phone is ready to use
18) if you have the signal problem use ur modem backup.. flash it and issue gone
now u can flas any E975 ROM you want

LG GX keeps reboting in Recovery after flashing SElollipop 5.0.1

Dear All,
I tried to flash the [Rom] [5.0.1] SpecialEdition LG Lollipop Stock * GX(L) - GPRO(988) - G
After Flashing my phone keeps rebooting in TWRP screen.
I tried to restore, it starts restore and after complete restore as I again reboot , it again reboot in recovery.
Pls help me in this

It requires the zip it should be named Zero_Misc_Fix_factory_data_reset_recovery.zip

Should I try again to Flash this ROM
My phone was Actually F310L
2 month ago I tried to Flash a rom and I Bricked It...
Then I got it repaired from a GUY who installed Latest 4.4.2 ROM and Showing my Phone as F30LR10j.
Now when I am Flashing this ROM which version should I choose
F310L or F310LR10j

Thats very strange.. I have never heard of an F30L10J but if its what it says your phone is and thats an option.. Then I would probably do that one. Be careful and back up your EFS and what not. Out of curiosity how did you hard brick your G Pro?

Sorry It is F310LR10j..It shows LTE8 at start up..its official ROM for LG GX and its korean.

I used Sphinx v2 kitkat previously on my LG Gx , I tried to install Sphinx v3b on my lg gx kitkat shpinx v2. after installation it was not booting, just LG logo come and go.
I tried Hard reset (volume+power+menue). it ended in Bricking my phone..:angel:

I tried again and again but no luck..same result
after boot and LG logo..screen gets blank for infinite time...
Again restored to Backup system...
Any solution???

Ohh sorry to hear that.. I never knew anything that could brick our phones, I thought they were basically unbrickable no matter what with download mode.
