[JB-4.2] GB Theme Remover & Facebook Sync

Hi everyone
I ported two little mods to the latest JB 4.2. They have been tested on the stock odexed ROM but they could work on a deodexed one ^_^
- GB Theme Remover removes the Gingerbread "theme" from all the old apps and displays them with the Holo (4.0+) one. The mod was originally ported by lippol94 to 4.1. Just flash the zip.
- Facebook Sync makes you sync your FB contacts with the built-in People app.
How to:
- Delete the FB account
- Flash the zip
- Go to Settings, Applications, Contacts Storage and delete its data (make sure you have synced your contacts before doing this...)
- Open the Facebook app and as soon as you enter your login, it should ask you to sync.
Hope they are useful ^_^

Not sure what I done wrong when I tried using this on mmuzys 4.2 gave me a boot loop. Had to reflash OS rom.
Would love to try this mod though.

You should make a zip themer mod for the GB remover so anyone can use it in any custom Rom
If you don't know how just give me all the png's in a zip file and I'll do for you

Since the GB remover mod replaces the framework-res.apk in the system
I think you will get boot loops if you flash it
As for the Facebook sync mod I don't know

I think only on stock 4.2 because it changes the framework
So I don't think it will work with ROMs like FNV but if he gives me the images I will make a zip themer mod

There are no images. Changes are made to XML files.

Well do you know which XML files?
Because those can be replaced with zip themer as well

Its replacing Styles.xml which cannot be zipthemer'd. Framework has to manually be decompiled and modded.

Don't do this if you don't know anything about it.
I did this on my galaxy nexus with xenonhd running on it and it didn't end well. After I rebooted it diden't sync anything anymore now I have to completely reflash everything again

As I said it's just for 4.2 ROMs... and probably as I learned these days, only for the stock ROM because Android checks for the signature of framework-res and a lot of apks in /system/app. They must match or the OS won't even boot. These mods keep Google's signature so the only ROMs which work are Google-signed ones.

REQUEST: AOSP messaging app (mms.apk)

I'm anxiously awaiting pure AOSP or CM based ROMS - I'm sure they're coming soon.
I'm not a dev, but I am fairly savvy. I'm trying to get a working mms.apk ported to the stock OG ROM. I get terribly frustrated with the stock mms app bug I've discussed in another thread and know it is related to the mms app and not the keyboard. I'd like to revert to the AOSP messaging app if possible (and avoid GO SMS or Handcent).
So far I've tried the following:
1. Install Android 4.1 JB Messaging SMS by Tim Hutt from the Play Store -- everything works beautifully except no MMS
2. Copy stock mms.apk to /system/app, rename LGUSmms.apk, change file permissions, reboot -- again, everything works fine, except MMS won't send a pic, it'll attach it, but when you hit send the pic just disappears
***I'm wondering if I need to rename the new mms.apk to LGUSmms.apk???
If anyone has any advice/tips/ideas I'd be very grateful.

The problem is you need to find a 4.0.4 apk it doesn't work BC we don't have jb we have ics

Tried that too and MMS still doesn't work. Reloaded the stock messaging app and it worked instantly. Asked on the IRC too and still couldn't figure it out.

[Request] S Voice type bubbles for Stock Messaging App

is there any way to have s voice type bubbles in grey like in screen shot given for stock messaging app ?? have tried modifying it but it didnt work. can someone help? thanx in advance

Would love to see this, or someone to mod different colours at least.

These are what I've been using in my rom for a while now, they're similar. flash and try. The colors are not the grey you mention but can be done
Remember to make a Nandroid Backup before flashing

The Mms bubbles you requested are in the attached zip. They are exactly the same as the ones found in S Voice. When applying them in the settings you should pick Bubble 1 for send and receive.
Download to SD Card, make a Nandroid Backup then flash via CWM.

Just tried flashing that zip and it didn't do anything, could it be cos I am using JKay Framework?
Really like the look of the bubbles in the mod, hope I csn get it to work somehow.

jkay framework wouldn't cause a problem, zip doesn't touch anything other than SecMms.apk. I presume you are using the Samsung SecMms app and not the aosp mms.apk
zip definitely works, tested myself before uploading
***EDIT*** Just downloaded and tested to be sure. Working perfectly

I've just woken up and realised what I've done, using TWRP to flash a theme zip I have to swap a file for it to work, and I forgot to swap the file. Will test again this afternoon and get back to u. Sorry for being an idiot

I am on omegas v42.1; had to flash it twice but than it worked like a charm!

Not responsible if your device somehow goes through thermonuclear meltdown from flashing this...
I was going through aome of my zip files as I dont like the stock white background mms app. I dont remember where I found but this and it is not my work and I take Zero credit, just sharing. This version allows you to set background wallpapers for conversation and message view along with setting different color options. Works flawlessly on my n3, I had to rename the default SecMms.apk to a SecMms.bak and flashed via twrp, havent had any issues on DarkStalker v2.

Havent tried but when I tried on this rom I renamed as outlined above as if it fc'd etc I could just go back rename the SevMms.bak to SecMms.apk and reboot and would be back to normal.

That is an inverted AOSP messaging app. It works pretty well except for MMS as I believe it has not been modified for the Note 3. See attachment

Sorry not working for ya, no issues here at all on n3 with ds v2 and ptmr3 kernel. Did you rename your default secmms as that happened to me, but maybe I got lucky with it working.

Yes that was with the SecMMS.apk renamed and flashing through TWRP. I also tried it by renaming the mms apk and replacing the SecMMS apk in system/app with the same results.

Oh I using kit kat

Try this for KitKat. It inverts SMS, dialer, and contacts. Foreverloco is working on updating it for the latest NE6 but people have reported this version does work on NE6. If you get black text in your SMS that is unreadable, follow instructions in the thread to fix it. The fix worked for me

Working MMS after flashing Note 3 Features zip

This is how I was able to get mms working after flashing Note 3 features zip .
After flashing your preferred 4.3 ROM, use a root accessible file explorer(I use root explorer), go to Root/System/app... scroll down to SecMms.apk, copy and paste to int/ext memory. Flash the Note 3 Features zip...Flash the AirCommand icon fix zip.
Once phone has rebooted and is running take the original SecMms.apk you copied (from the 4.3 ROM you originally flashed)and push to System/app. Fix permissions rw/r/r, reboot. Let phone start up then send an mms to yourself or anyone else. Have them send one back.
It won't be the Note3 mms but it works and still allows you to keep the rest of the Note3 features with AirCommand.

So this would fix the MMS issue with SyngergyRom r3?

I flashed Team Venom mK4 ROM and these are the steps I did and it worked. When you flash the Note 3 zip the SecMms.apk is like 10.4 mbs but the original one for 4.3 for our phone is only 5+mbs. Hopefully it works for you as it did me. Just try and see.

My bad...that ROM I believe has the Note 3 features baked in. You would have to dl a 4.3 ROM that does not have those features already in it.

Which Synergy ROM did you flash? The latest r3 ALREADY has the Note 3 features baked in...so if you flashed Synergy r3 then flashed the Note 3 features...that's why.Just flash the ROM itself let it boot then try the Note 3 features. If Air Command icons show and the other Note 3 features that are available for our phones work then don't flash anything else.

could someone please post note 3 features zip. Cant find it. Would really appreciate it thanks

Hey witch one did you try and methods im mk4 rooted tw
Been trying to port it since the update and non of them work on the l900 nor installing the apks forced I keep getting tw failed gapps failed etc.. ?

Huh? This mms fix is for sprint. Not sure why your gapps failed. Just copy downloaded apk to system/app using root explorer, fix permissions...reboot. Done!

Sorry I misread I been yrying to fimd the correct port mod mk4 note 3 for galaxyn2 l900 I did that I opened up the zips when installing failed and tried using root explorer fixed pms and reboot but nogo im giving up also I have to be deodex todo it but even than idk anyone are read on anyone l900 with all the gn3 goodies
