Hey,
I have looked everywhere found many tricks and tips, guides, programs, drivers, yet i'm still have problems. I think that it could be problems with my phone. I recently bricked my phone (installed a rom from a different note 2 version and was stuck in a boot loop). Went to go plug in the phone to restore back to stock and the phone wasn't detected. It was a new laptop so i figured it was a driver issue. Installed the drivers still nothing. Long story short I have installed multiple drivers, Note 2 toolkit (mskip big thanks), Samsung Kies, and Odin (all at separate times) all in an attempt to get this phone connected. I have tried 2 different USB cords, different plug-ins, different computers yet still nothing. Now I have gotten my phone back to stock but went to install a new rom and now it wont load past the boot screen. But that was after my trying for a whole day of plugging in and unplugging before 1 time it was connected. I can not understand the issue besides it being my phone. I don't have anything else to try besides plugging it in and out over and over for the 1 time it decides to work and connect. I am getting very frustrated with this because I currently have no phone. Is their a way to tell if the connector is messed up in any way? I'm really needing help because nothing i'm doing is working.

Have the same issue. I am trying fr a work computer, internet restricted, no kies. Now can only recognize note 2 as a camera. When I switch thw usb settings in android, I get the not supported box. Same thing happens at the home computer. I left bb for this??
This is a simple hardware fail and needs to be taken in for warranty repair. The fact that it's bricked, we'll you're just gonna have to cross your fingers and hope they don't charge you for a new one.
Or you can try a jig to get it into download mode and try to push a rom through.

Thats what i'm going to do take it in and see if they can fix it but i want to get it back to stock firmware before but not being able to plug it in to update it is kinda ruining that plan.
Well I turned in 3 notes with custom roms that were rooted and I never got charged, but I always run a stockist rom.
What rom did you flash?

Are u able to boot in recovery?
PM me if u need help
Sent from MOON......
Can you boot into recovery? If so then you can push a file to your SD card using adb. If your having problems with Samsung drivers or what ever good way to test is connecting your phone to a Linux box and setting up udev and adb. Then you can do a adb device command and see if it sees it.
If you have the time to install Linux on a extra hard drive or duel boot you can connect using adb.
Nice thing about Linux is that you can connect directly to the USB device using udev and the device id and with ADB you can push a file onto your phones SD card. Here's a good how to

Alright I am running cm9 and have been for weeks with no issues. I got the new galaxy s3 and installed the drivers on my pc to root it and all that. I want to change roms on my E4GT though so I go to plug it in and it charges but will not connect so I figured I had to reinstall the usb drivers for my e4gt so I did and still nothing. I am in no way a newb i have flashed tons of roms and I know I did not do anything wrong. I believe I am just missing a driver. Can someone point me in the right direction? I have the latest version of kies installed and the drivers straight from samsungs website.
Made a little progress but not much. I realized I didnt have usb debugging enabled so I enabled that but now when I plug it in it just says usb debugging enabled instead of asking if I want to mount as storage device I have tried rebooting phone and pc several times. I am running out of ideas.
Did you get the drivers by installing Samsung Kies?
I ran into a similar issue once. I removed all Samsung software with all devices disconnected, did a reboot, re-installed a new copy of Kies, and when I plugged in the device, I opened the notification and told it to skip searching Windows Update.
Also, make sure you are plugging it into a powered USB port, so one on the back of your computer. Sometimes laptops don;t provide enough power either. My girlfriend's OG Epic refused to flash on my MacBook Pro, but worked fine on a desktop.
Latest version of Samsung Kies: http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/SW/201105/20110512115717796/Kies_2.3.2.12054_20_1.exe

Actually no i did not get the drivers by installing kies because I already had it i got the sprint sph d710 usb drivers. Should I uninstall those and just install kies?
Well this is a rediculus problem that I am having now.. I cant install kies because it is saying I am not connected to the internet and I clearly am as I am posting this on the same pc that I am trying to install on.. I have tried rebooting the pc that does nothing.
Alright I got kies to install but still the same thing when I plug the phone in it says usb debugging enabled i really have no idea what is going on.

Greetings,
I have a rooted epic running the latest Clean GB
The other night the phone went crazy, it would reboot over and over and the screen would lock out. I went into CWM and restored it back to when I first installed Clean GB about 2 months ago. It had an error the first two times then it went on the third time. Then the phone crashed while rebooting and now will only go to the Samsung black screen. I cannot boot to cwm only to the Download screen (#1 and power). I tried connecting it to my computer to try and odin it back and I can not get it to connect. After reading the forms I re-installed the drivers uninstalled rebooted installed over and over. about 10 times. I found on the forums that the stock cable could be bad so found 3 other cables at home and tried them, still nothing then went to radio shack and bought the 22$ cable and still nothing. I have tried 3 different computers (2 windows 7 and 1 windows xp) every usb port on all the computers it says the device has malfunctioned. Odin does not recognize the device either does Heimdall. I am lost can you guys help me out? or do I need to see if sprint can fix it or use it for target practice? Thanks for your help

What kind of usb cables? just because it was $22 doesn't means its a good data cable. I find thick blackberry cables are the best, i leave one plugged into my pc.
.
Also make sure your micro usb port on the phone isn't dirty. I find a can of air duster works well.
Are you downloading the correct drivers straight from samsungs website?
If you can get into download mode its either usb port is bad, cable is bad, or computer doesn't play well with your phone.

Thanks for the ideas, I just cleaned my usb ports on my computer and on the phone and nothing. The cable is the thickest one I can find. I have read on other forums that they have had great success with that cable. Who knows, I may try and find black berry cable or take it to someone that knows more than I do. If anyone has any other ideas it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I forgot to mention that yes I downloaded them from Samsung and also from a thread on xda.
Hello XDA!
I don't want to post a wall of text (not that tall of a wall, at least), so, I'll try to get to the point quickly. And yes, I have done a lot of searching, both on XDA and Google, and that will be proved soon enough with the solutions that I've tried so far.
The problem I'm currently experiencing is when I connect my phone to my computer, it charges but it isn't recognized. There is no USB notifications, no phone in My Computer, and no Windows pop up, whether it's a pop up asking me to install drivers or an unknown device has been connected, nothing. Mind you, everything has been working flawlessly, this just randomly, and I really do mean randomly, started happening. The phone has never been dropped and there is no water damage. I'm still using the USB cable that came with the phone. And, if it matters, I'm rooted, running the leaked LI8 JB ROM, stock kernel, and UVLEM baseband.
Here's a list of said solutions that I've tried so far:
Using a thin paint brush, wet the tip a little with alcohol and tried cleaning out the USB port
Connecting to a different computer, connecting with a different cable, connecting to any other USB ports on the computer
After making Nandroid backup: Data wipe/factory reset, flashing a different ROM
Remove Samsung USB drivers and reinstalling, also tried installing Samsung Kies
Uncheck USB debugging and restarting, checking USB debugging and restarting
Dialled *#7284#, select Modem, then reselect PDA, changing Qualcomm USB settings and changing it back to MTP + ADB
Turn off phone, remove battery for 30 sec, reinsert and boot up (soft reset to reset internal circuitry as described by a Samsung live chat service tech)
I might've left out a couple, but please do enlighten me of methods that you might know, I'll be sure to try it or let you know if it's already been attempted.
..also, when connected to my PC, under Settings > Battery, it shows "Charging (AC)" IIRC, this should be showing "Charging (USB)".
This next attempt stood out to me. I decided I would try and go back to the stock firmware, one where I would have to use Odin3. So, I put the phone in Download Mode, open up Odin3, connect the phone, and I get a pop up in Windows! It's trying to install drivers, and fails. I can't flash the stock Samsung firmware if I wanted to, even for warranty purposes. I do currently have the USB drivers installed, but my PC hasn't gone through the driver installation for when the phone is connected to the computer. So, I'm assuming that is why this is failing? I'm not entirely sure. But, when I saw this, I unplug the phone and plug it back in numerous times, to rule out that this might be a hardware problem. And, every time I plug it back in, it tries to install the drivers but fails. So, it's detecting my phone in Download Mode. I reboot and hope that it will detect normally, but no, it doesn't...
As a last resort, I went to Samsung.com and chatted with a service tech, he runs me through two procedures that I haven't done, the 'soft reset' and a 'master reset', which is done through Settings > Back up and Reset > Factory Data Reset. Neither worked, so, he then checks my IMEI and finds that I am still under the 1 year warranty and files a ticket for repair service. I asked him if there is a replacement warranty and he says that is done through my service provider (T-Mobile) with the Premium Handset Protection service, which I didn't add. Not because I didn't want to, but I can explain in later posts if someone is interested in why it wasn't added. So, now I have the return label in my inbox ready to be printed, taped onto a box containing my phone, and sent out. But, I can't go through with this because I have a custom ROM on the phone. There is no counter because I've already used Triangle Away, AFTER this started happening.
I am completely stumped... Any information is greatly appreciated!
EDIT: Also, I've disassembled the phone to check the MicroUSB port to see if any pins or prongs might've came loose. Everything is in tact.. I also wanted to see if the MicroUSB port was replaceable because I was able to find a spare MicroUSB ports on a website. But, it seems that the port isn't easily replaceable. It doesn't look removable, and I'm uncertain if it can be de-soldered to solder a replacement one on. Also, some thing caught my eye when I had it disassembled. There were two components of the phone that had SGH-I747 imprinted on them. I wasn't able to take pictures as I was in a rush to get it put back together, but thought it was of interest to bring up.
How do you have a custom ROM if you flashed the stock one? I'm confused..
Try installing drivers through the toolkit.
If windows recognized it in Download Mode, keep trying to unplug and replug the cable in the same and different ports until it installs?
This happened once on my Galaxy S 4G.
Uninstall all related drivers, kies, etc. Restart pc and download and install these drivers. (Should be latest)
http://d-h.st/zya
Or download and install latest version of kies. Drivers included.
Try connecting again.

Thank you for your input, but I doubt this would work in my situation. Ive tried connecting it to my laptop and another computer in the house and they both do not detect the phone. However, i would consider going that route as a last resort if there arent any other ideas.. i just need Odin3 to recognize it so i can revert and send it back in..

And that is exactly what im trying to do..
I was running CM10 but I got a message whenever I got into the Camera App that said "Unfortunately, Gallery has stopped working", after a research in here I found that I wouldn't get that msg again if I installed this "gapps-jb-picasa-20121011-signed" thing.
I did, but when I got into my Camera App, I didn't have the other options like "Image Effects" and all that stuff.
So, what I did was to Restore my phone from my BackUp folder that I've created before installing CM10, but for my surprise I got a msg saying "VolumeError" or something like that and other things that I can't really remember... and as a good Mexican that I am, I ignored it and hit the Reboot System Now..
What happened next almost made me cry...
I was expecting to get in my stock rom without any problems and yadda yadda but... OH SURPRISE!
I got stuck on the boot screen, where it says "Samsung" and the website of it and I didn't freak out... I waited like 5-6 mins and took the battery out. When I turned again, I tried to get in Recovery Mode but the screen just kept turning off and on and saying the exact same thing, the "Samsung" logo and it's website.
I hope you can help me and please answer me. I don't know if I'm 1000000% screwed but I will only wait for the worst. Sorry for my bad english and don't hate me for being mexican
I don't know if I can get into my phone from my PC but whenever I plug my phone in, it just loads it as if it was in Charging Mode
PLEASE HELP ME!

Like @dropple said, it seems you stuck "SAMSUNG" and in this case you can't get into recovery so you can't flash CM10 as of now. Go find some tutorials and Odin back to stock via download mode. Then install CWM recovery if you want and do whatever you like. Should get you outta trouble.

I solved this like 2 hrs after all this happened.
I got it by Odin. I couldn't go into Recovery Mode, but I got in Download Mode and do it by Odin.
Sorry, I'm a n00b to all this.
Greetings from México and thanks for all your support.
Here's a weird one for you,
Same thing as OP stated. Device is stuck on logo. Can't get into CWM. Was on People's Rom. Device was lagging really bad. Then the system requested superuser permissions. Yes the system requested. Being as I did not request it, I declined. Shut the device down to see if that would help with the extremely bad lag (i mean BAD lag. Like..........................ok it does something then.......................................................................ok it does something else. 10-20 seconds lag)
Connect device to computer to Odin back to Stock or whatever ROM would have worked, computer recognizes device..... wait for it.......
But in download mode Odin does not see it. Com Port will not illuminate. Tried 3 different cables. Tried 6 different USB ports on computer. Still nothing.
Any ideas, because I'm all out?!?
To the OP:
I would follow the instructions in this video from the part where qbking77 talks about putting the phone in download mode, as you presumably did when you first rooted your phone. Download all the files linked/referenced on the site, especially the Samsung mobile drivers, Odinv3 1.87, CWMRecovery, and the deOxed versions of the stock ROM. In sum:
1) get into recovery mode by holding onto the volume down, camera buttons, and then without letting either of those go, press and hold the power button.
if you get into recovery mode, skip to step 4
2) while your phone is completely off, hold onto the "1" button on the slide out keyboard first, then without letting the 1 button go, press and hold the power button until you're in download mode.
3) flash the version of Clockworkmod
4) once in recovery mode, wipe your phone, clear the cache, and dalvik cache, and then flash the deOxed version of the stock ROM

Do you have the mobile drivers installed on the computer you're trying to connect your phone to?
Yes. The drivers have been installed previously. The computer will see the device as "Samsung SPH-D700 Card USB Device". But Odin3 1.85 will not see it.
EDIT: When I put device into download mode and connect to computer, the computer only sees it as "Gadget Serial".

Try to install another version of Odin or getting Odin from a different server.
My phone is fully recovered and now I'm only SuperUser 'cause I don't want any CM by now.
Greetings from Mexico!
I'm using the same version of Odin I used to root the device. Would a different version really help and if so, what version to use?
I actually have a different version of Odin I used for another device and tried that one as well, with no luck.
EDIT: I have now downloaded and tried 4 different Odin programs with no avail. Again, that makes 6 Odin programs, 6 different USB ports, 3 different cables with the same exact results. The computer recognizes device but Odin will not.

Had a simular issue when I had two odins on the same computer, for a lark and as I had nothing better to do, tried installing drivers and one version of odin to a vertual machine running vista and checked to see if my computer's vertual machine would reconize and it did, I took it as a sine that at one point I had done something to my computer's main os sometime between rooting my epic 4g and frying it (recovering from a backup from a different parition layout I think, bad times with bootloops and seeing way to much of the samsung logo.) So as I'm not brave enough to run odin on vm I instead removed all of odin from my main os and all of the samsung drivers, then reinstalled rebooted and repluged my epic in, got reconition and reflashed with plesure.
The other issue might be that your computer is reconizing the device and try/failing/hanging and not allowing odin in. Had an issue when my computer was failing to pop up a 'what do I do with this' window and hanging round in the system. A reboot with the internet unpluged strangely solved that for some reason, might be the reboot might be the combo, but I find better connection reconition with my computer when I've fewer things connected.
Don't mind the spelling to much I clean up with my other device.

Phone does not boot past the "Samsung - www.samsung.com" logo. Plus, as with all of my devices, USB debugging is always checked.
Thanks for the suggestion though. Always helps to double check things.
I believe I am going to take it to Sprint tomorrow.

I know I've been in your boot problem situation and recovered, it just took persistence and eyenumbing amounts of reading.
Note On the multiple Odin, USB, and driver installation: if you've access to another computer it could be worth wile to run once though on a previously virgin computer, meaning your phone and computers' USB's have never touched. Just do the installation, rebooting, and plugging in exasperatingly meticulous order.

Yep tried the "virgin computer" computer as well. The computer sees the device but Odin does not. Com light will not illuminate.
Sounds grim.
So to rap up all the cables, plugs, computer, and software with odin is out of the debug process.
So I did some digging into the past and if your computer is reconizing and odin is not then ADB (android debug bridge) and the sdk are the other option

Ran across this and it might just be what you need. Its not quick but it has worked for me in the past.
The other thing that may work is ejecting the sd card and battery before doing anything. Though its likely something you've already tried.

Can anyone help me please.....?
I recently updated my Note 4 to lollipop and since then my PC cannot recognise the phone.
I have tried a variety of USB cables.
I have also tried installing the drivers and kies several times.
I have also tried different PC's to resolve this issue.... still nothing.

Make sure usb debugging is on.
Have you tried putting the phone in download mode, starting odin then plugging the phone in and seeing if odin will recognize it? If that works then download the OB7 lollipop stock tar from the general section and flash it with odin.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

I've been through three Note 4's now - ever since Lollipop I cant mount USB in the OS or in recovery. It's absolutely insane. other Sammy phones are fine - I bring them back into the store and they can't mount anything either - so they give me a new phone.
This one came with Lollipop out of the box, so we activate it and plug it into their laptop. It sees the phone and you can see the device in Explorer. I drive home and some apps update on the way.
Get home - NONE OF MY PCs SEE THE ****ING PHONE!!!!
I'l going to have to kill something now - this makes ZERO sense. I know what I'm doing, I know all about drivers, USB debugging, blah blah. Still these Note 4s just plain won't mount USB. They charge fine but PCs don't see them.
I need to root the damn thing so I can get all my apps back on there but of course ODIN can't see a phone that won't mount.
Any advice? Been dealing with this for two weeks now... I can't find anybody else with a similar issue.
