RAM usage is 0.94gb/0.95gb - HTC One X

Hello xda,
I don't post much on the forums but this is a serious issue I've been facing for quite awhile now, my RAM usage stays near to 99% which leads to my phone's homescreen reloading and sometimes chrome, weather apps etc auto-close. I checked the processes that are running but neither of them show what is using majority of that 0.94gb....it just shows me a list of apps that are in a "restarting" phase. I tried restarting the phone but to no avail, the problem just comes back. Could anyone please help?

Try deleting apps that could possibly cause it.
If that fails, do a factory reset.

Deleted quite afew apps but the problem persists, guess I'll just backup my SMS and try factory reset...

[Q] G2 Apps Start Force Closing

On my G2, I've noticed that previously perfectly working apps will suddenly stop working, giving me a force close error whenever I try to launch them after being installed for a period of time. The only way I've been able to fix it is by uninstalling and then reinstalling the application.
Has this occurred to anyone else? And what should I do to fix this problem?
yes, i had this problem a few days ago...i did a factory reset and everything works fine as of now.
are there any solutions that don't require a wipe?
i had to wipe, and i lost all my mileage records i had entered into the mileage app, and my text messages before i backed them up...
its not too bad when its 2 weeks worth of information... but if this is going to occur often, its not going to be pretty
The two times that happened to me a simple power off/power on worked and they stopped Force Closing. I'm taking it that it didn't work in your situation and the uninstall/reinstall was the only fix?
yea i tried rebooting it several times, but after my latest wipe, nothing bad has happened...
still an issue that should be raised if its been replicated more than once
Ive had this problem with the stock browser and twitter, rebooting seemed to fix it.
Ah, one of those times where fix_permissions would be nice.
I've had to uninstall and re-install several of my apps because they've been force closing.

I've had this happen and it was acting really weird before it did it. It did like a vicious reboot and just about any app other than stock got a force close upon opening. It's gotta be software issues, god I hate stock roms. Damn TMobile and trying to restricting our joy of root.

This is starting to happen to me on my G2 as well now. I have uninstalled the Apps I could (except the preinstalled ones) and still they are force closing on me. I also have Factory Reset the phone several times and it still is happening. I have already exchanged my G2 once at Walmart for a flickering screen but im pretty sure the 14 days are up now with them. At this point I'm sure I have to call Tmobile.
Anyone have any ideas before I call T-Mobile?
I'm not rooted at all just plain stock.
Thanks

[Q] Weird Screen Flicker Issue

Hi guys,
My Galaxy Nexus has a weird issue that I can't seem to figure out whether it is caused by software or hardware. A portion of my screen seems to flicker when I have certain apps open. They all have a common cause. For instance when I open Chrome and begin to do a search from the top I notice the drop down results will flicker in sync with the cursor. It doesn't appear that the whole screen flickers. It only seems to be the drop down results which are typically black text on white backgroud that flicker. I don't notice anything similar within all other apps such as the standard messaging app which have blinking cursors. I can also get the same flickering result in my IMDB Movie app while starting a search within the app which will start to display results that faintly flicker. I have never seen it flicker using a screen testing app such as the ones used for detecting dead pixels. I am not sure if this is something has always existed on my phone, but I noticed this about a week ago while still on 4.1.2. I am now on 4.2 and still have the issue. I attempted a factory reset just to see if that would clear it up but it didn't. Has anyone else experienced this or have some insight for the flickering? I wanted to see if anyone has noticed this before I start the whole Samsung tech process!
One additional observation I made is that when I don't notice the flickering within Chrome,it will remain without any issue until I go and start clearing recent apps.
Thanks,
Jay
Sounds stupid but you sure its not an auto-brightness issue? Samsung phones are known to have crazy auto brightness but anyway try clearing the cache for each app that seems affected....check back let us know what happens
Thanks for the response. I have turned off auto brightness and tried manual brightness settings with the same result. It hasn't become worse, but I can't explain it either way. I have tried clearing the cache for chrome and other apps, but that also hasn't improved things. I am wondering if I try flashing the phone with a fresh stock image instead of just a factory reset since that automatically re-downloaded my apps. I have never done any modifications (root or unlock) so I am not sure that would really help. Maybe the screen is beginning to go bad, but I figured it would flicker when using a screen test app. It only flickers on the white background for specific app search results (ex. Chrome, IMDB, and Zillow).
Thanks again,
Jay
So I did some more troubleshooting and I started uninstalling apps to see if I could find an app causing the issue if it was software. For some reason if I am running my XDA Forum app and leave it running in the recent apps list then I don't get the flicker within Chrome or other apps that have search with drop down results. It is just the search results that flicker and not the whole screen. As soon as I swipe away the XDA app then the flickering returns. I tried uninstalling the XDA app and the flickering continues. It is fairly subtle. I could try a factory reset again and not allow Google to re-install my apps and see if that resolves the issue, but it is very strange overall. I swung over to a Verizon store that still had one on display (even though mine is a GSM model)and noticed there unit had similar behavior and it could be a coincidence. It is pretty subtle, but I am confused why the XDA app keeps it from doing it.

[Q] Somethings Wrong with my S4

Hi guys, I never posted here but am trying to find some help. I've had my S4 for quite a while now, and I just factory reset everything because I kept getting a "Unfortunately, the process android.process.acore has stopped." message that wouldn't go away or let me use my phone without an interruption literally every 2 seconds. But before I even had that problem, there were worse problems as well. There are two things that occur frequently:
1. Sometimes, when I tap on an icon, the indicator light shows up (a glow around the icon), but the app itself does not open. Then, if i tap on it repeatedly, nothing happens. I can temporarily fix this problem by opening up the recent/opened apps list (holding home button) and clearing everything (or clicking on that app if it had been opened). Once cleared, I can tap it again and it would open. As you might see, this can get very annoying and troublesome after doing it so many times. Is there anyway I can permanently fix this so that I don't need to keep clearing the open apps list?
2. Sometimes, when I unlock my screen, exit an app, press the home button, or clear the opened app list (as mentioned above), my wallpaper changes to an app. The app is usually random and sometimes is not one that I had opened. For example, the background of my messaging app or Astro File Manager would show up even if I had not recently opened it at all. I can also temporarily fix this by clearing the recent/opened apps list (as mentioned in #1). After clearing this, the wallpaper resets. Is there any way I can fix this permanently as well?
3. Snapchat and VSCO Cam constantly "stop unexpectedly". I don't know if this is a firmware or incompatibility issue, but it usually works fine. This message pops up once in a while and isn't too burdensome, but is still quite annoying.
Thank you for all the help in advance. I am trying to get the most out of my phone and appreciate any help.
Are you running stock or custom and has anything changed since you factory reset?

It's stock right now. Not rooted or anything at all. I didn't really change much of the device internally, only downloaded a couple of apps, but those have been working fine since the beginning. It is running Kit Kat, 4.4.2. I am currently using Nova Launcher as my home screen replacement.

Random Freezing and Crashing

Hey guys, i love my pixel 3 XL its been great but it has been randomly freezing and locking up, somtimes requiring a restart.
Other time i get the system UI crashed message and then i close it and it works again. Sometimes Chrome or the camera app locks up and crashes too.
Anybody experiencing this? Any ideas on a fix, maybe the next December OTA will fix it hopefully.
Thanks

I'm getting pretty fed up of factory resetting my phone, the phone started saying it's corrupt so I ended up reflashing it and that issue is now gone, but this freezing issue happens every now and then. You really think a factory reset is worth trying? Or could have something of gone wrong with the reflash?

I absolutely would try a factory reset if things are acting strange for no apparent reason.

If you flashed the factory image it's either a hardware or app issue. Have you tried using the phone for awhile with a minimum of apps? I'd give that a try I don't think a factory reset will do anything if you've already flashed the factory image.

try the flash-all.bat then when its complete go to stock recovery and format /data
are you using substratum?
Pixel 3 XL crashing
I have had the same problem. My system UI crashes since new, along with other apps and the phone becomes non-responsive. I thought it was just a new phone glitch that would be fixed with an update, no such luck... I need to do a hard reboot by holding the power button until it reboots. I bought a Pixel 2 XL in August and never had any problems like this. I finally contacted Google about the problems and they RMA'd it. I never root my phones before making sure they work correctly, so this one is and has been stock, unrooted.
My wife and I have the 64GB models in Black (mine), White (hers). She's on her 3rd replacement phone for what seems to be a similar issue.
Symptoms:
When using the fingerprint reader to unlock the phone, it may not unlock for 10+ tries.
The phone's battery drains quickly, within a couple hours of barely any use, her phone might be down to 60-70%
System_UI crashes
Some apps don't seem to load quickly (Like going into messages, you see the app container, and a new chat button, but no messages load for a minute). Or she's had a straight up black screen, and the app wouldn't load.
Takes minutes to call or hang up a call and often takes rebooting to close out the phone app.
It almost seems like something is running in the background that is utilizing the CPU and causing the lag/app/battery issues.
Troubleshooting:
Factory Reset
Wiping Dalvik Cache
Replacing the phone twice through Verizon. The first replacement had the same issues immediately. The 2nd phone showed the same issues immediately, and then went away for 3 weeks since the Dec. 5th Security update, but in the past few days has returned.
Booted in Safe Mode (everything seems to be working fine however extremely limited).
We've also checked the processes and no apps seem to be running that would make any sort of impact.
Running out of ideas

Since the December update, the freezing issues I was having have been significantly reduced, but it still freezes sometimes... I am hoping the January update coming in the next week will smooth out any remaining bugs.
Any of you using a different launcher?
I had this freezing and non-responsive issue. The google rep, replaced it, he determined it is some kind of hardware issue. My replacement didn't have this issue at all (November update). However, the lag/stuttering still persists though. I had replaced quiet a few pixel 3 XL, and i am just getting tired of it. For a $1K phone, we shouldn't get mediocre quality of phone.
So my wife had been removing applications in small groups to try to narrow it down. It seemed for a week or so that she was in the clear and everything was working. Then all of a sudden she got the January update and her phone is still having issues.
Slow responding finger print reader.
System UI crashes
Unable to answer phone calls despite numerous attempts.
It still seems like there is something that is running in the background that is just using the processing power.

Get gsam from the app store, if you don't have it. After awhile see what apps are using battery, app sucker in the app. Gsam is a battery monitor.

New occasional lag - irritating af

Hi guys,
I've been experiencing occasional lag in almost every app for about 2-3 second and no it's not because of the ram or anything because it has happened to me randomly in random apps. I've recently installed only Acu battery app.
I'm not rooted and completely on stock.
Can anyone offer some help or assistance?
Hi
Try to remove the Accubattery app and check if the lag is gone. If not, backup your data and do a factory reset and check again.

I uninstalled the app but it still randomly happens. I don't really want to do a factory reset. I will probably do it after the next Pixel feature drop but not sure what is causing it.
I have removed all beta apps as well.
Hm, then try to boot your phone in safe mode and see if the there is still lag or no, just to know if it's caused by a third party app or just the system itself.
