4.2 TW ROMs? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hey guys, With the Galaxy S4 announced yesterday and the apparent S3 4.2.1 leak, I'm just wondering if there's any timetable to get a 4.2 touchwiz rom on our GN2. I would like to get the TW features back that I lost on pacman and i really don't want to have to deal with the SD card issues if possible. Any info out there?

Nope.

How do you search for that because I tried. I thought the reason for the q&a section was to ask questions. If you aren't going to answer the question, why even open the topic and waste your obviously precious time to type out an answer?

I just saw that they are expecting OTAs for the gs3 in the next couple weeks and thought it might be pretty easy to port over of that's the case. Instead of just saying no or not addressing the question at all, could someone explain why?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app

Because they are completely different devices and one has nothing to do with the other. And by search I mean this exact question has been asked and answered more than once in this very forum. So if you actually searched you would have known that
SoA: Son's of Android™

I guess my thinking is that back in the day when I was using a evo 3d we got a bunch of ports from the one s, so I thought that might be possible here. Are you telling me that isn't true for samsung devices?
And my question about how to search for it isn't rhetorical. I searched for tw 4.2, touchwiz 4.2, gs3 port, and a few more terms I don't remember.

I don't See why Someone would want a S3 rom on a note 2 You would lose So many features

Not exactly *nothing*...after all the Perseus kernel most of us dev teams use on our TWiz ROMs is a port of an S3 kernel.
That being said...anything above low level processes is pretty damn different.

I hope that is the case, if labled with the right tag, we will only need to focus on that when looking at topics. I for one want to focus on all Sprint related topics/questions first, and if I have time help the rest of the SGS3 owners. But Id like to be closer friends with the people that are on the same carrier as me... No offence

Don't forget ...
Don't forget (Americans often do) that there's also Rogers, Bell, and Telus, not to mention a few more in Canada.
Rogers, Bell and Telus use the AT&T I747. I'm not sure about Virgin, Mobilicity, etc.
Peter
Addendum: I really should say that Rogers, Bell and Telus use the I747, which AT&T also uses. I really don't like saying it's an AT&T I747, because it's not.
Personally, I will try and use [I747] on all my posts.

There's advantages to both ways. But I'm not sure that the average user base will be able to take advantage of this setup and NOT cause a cluster#$%@. Not to mention the tendency to repeat previously asked questions... with four times as many carriers.

Exactly, this could get bad fast, and I see even more MOD attention would be needed, idk, maybe we are wrong and this will all work out for the best. XDA is about hacking devices, not discussing carriers. Don't forget that.
Go to a carrier-related forum if you want that.
I, for one, see this as a good change. Speaking as an engineer/developer.
Already we have 2 Off-Topic threads discussing this change. Don't complain about off-topic threads when you post in them.
This is good for me, since I'm kinda sad that I'm leaving my OG Epic bretheren from sprint to head to Bid Red..

Not really a good change, a step in the right direction, yes. But I for one only want to see Sprint related general/off topic posts when I come into the SGS3 general forum. That's why I ask for the tags. I mean that is a system in its self that needs to be used here ( I would love to see that happen). I'm just saying that makes it so much easier when scanning, and when you don't want to have to subscribe to all the Sprint related topics just to keep up with what your trying to focus on is ridiculous if you ask me.

I think I found your problem.
Okay, so other than:
1. *****ing about poor coverage.
2. *****ing about LTE roll-out.
3. *****ing about bundled apps.
4. *****ing about insurance/TEP.
What else possibly belongs in the General section that's Sprint-specific?
XDA has an off-topic section. Go there if you want to talk about whatever. It's about time these forums get back to device/development. This place has been taken over by whiny 14 year olds for too long.

Tho we wouldn't have to if we had separate forums. I know in the past there were several that would cross platforms from international version to US versions and that was great, but I think it's a bit confusing to do it like this and if you're going to label every thread with a carrier anyway, why not just have it's own forum??
It is what it is I guess.

[Q] Advanced developer section

I see a new section for advance developers and have a terrible urge to ask simple questions in that section. How can I effectively resist the urge to upset developers and moderators alike?
Two questions
-Where do you see this 'advanced developer' section?
-Why do you feel like you absolutely need to post something in it?

I was that at one point also, when the G1 came out and JesusFreke was making roms, and people had to use ADB to obtain root and be able to flash things. I learned since then and read and read and read. The problem now a days is that most don't care to read a little, or at all. Most of the questions asked in a thread are answered, or been discussed, or don't even belong in the dev section. This is extremely aggravating to the devs, or themers, when they right up a huge OP and no one uses it, and just clutters up their dev thread with useless questions and/or nonconstructive criticism. I don't blame him for quitting or locking the thread, if people feel it's at its prime, then leave it alone and don't touch it anymore. Most of the TouchWiz roms have the best version yet to come, or they came and went a while ago. Most of the mods they incorporated are flashable on your own, anyways. Thank him and respect decisions, or use one of the other 10+ TouchWiz roms.

Jesusfreke was the pioneer of modding for Android. Without him I believe that we would not be as far with android as devs, manufacturers, or even android its self.
Look at thouchwiz its self with the toggles in the notification Window. This came from cm. We the community can end up pushing for devs with true innovation to go back underground where their work is not seen in mass people, Google, or manufacturers. Then android may end up missing what could become greatness all for petty arguments. I follow one such dev in a private forum and it's a shame he was forced to by thing like this.

This community is a lot nicer lol

so ive been around here for a couple of weeks and i just wanted to say thanks to the members here at the Sprint S3 forums. the E4GT and a lot of other forums are kinda useless because instead of answering a question they just yell at you get off topic and close your thread. So I wanted to thank the community here for not being such bad people and actually being helpful to one another.
MOD EDIT...using asterisks to mask unacceptable words is not appropriate either.
The same mods are in this forum as well. Pull the same crap you pulled in the ET4G forums and you'll get flamed and have your threads locked just as fast. Not following rules does that.

Mods are the only ones who can close threads, and no one is going to help you when you're asking about illegal things like warez and other things you asked about. Not to mention if you want help you need to help yourself first, asking a question when the answer is literally 2 threads below yours is going to get you flamed for being lazy and wanting things done for you.

My last comment was directed to the OP daniel, not you bro. I've seen you around and i know you contribute. I was also on the e4gt since the Gb days, and for the last few months i haven't been over there much. Been here dropping lots of stuff lol. So really i wouldn't know about how it's been there lately; I do know most of the devs there tho... But both my daughters still have an e4gt and i still do personal development for them and I'll always have a special place in my heart for the e4gt. I have moved on tho, and I have to say, I personally have had an easier time here than i did over there when i first came on the scene during the gb days. That might have something to do with my status now, im not sure. But when i asked questions originally, i was shot down and treated like i was stupid. One guy even got banned for the way he treated me and several of my team mates. So i cant say that it can't get rough over there, but i was pretty sure that , that kind of behaviour had pretty much died down before i left.
Well then why did you quote me. I got confused lol

I wouldn't mention that name unless you want your computer to fly off your desk and hit you in the face. His name might make the interwebz explode.
