So the aging arc is well... aging, and I'm looking for a step up.
Is there any Xperia Phones that are cheap, but slightly more powerful than the arc?
samsung galaxy s is good enough i think, but buying a sightly faster phone from arc sounds a bit silly to me.
the early NXTs perhaps? Xperia P, U or sola?
Sv: Dual-Core alternative?

Sony Xperia P could be something for you? Double up in performance, camera quality nearly at the same level as the iPhone 4S and amazing phone for the price!

I'm driven towards the Sola, I'm not a fan of the design of the S. The clear bar through the middle is hideous
Donno how much you can spend but since the Xperia Z is starting to show in the shelves, the T/TL prices are coming down fast. Where I live, the price of T already dropped like 30%.
Or alternatively there are some cheap dual-core LG's out there. Never used LG before but L5/L7 series are usually quite cheap. HTC has One SV. Its older brother, One S, also has some lovely price cuts. There is also the HTC One V but can't remember on the top of my head whether it was dual core or not.
I was thinking, maybe it is worth waiting for the L? I heard that will be a nice upgrade and not to expensive

Something cheap, nice looking and better specs than Arc? Go for Xperia V. It's waterproof, has a great display, fast dual core processor and it really looks like the Arc.
Sent from my Xperia Arc S using xda premium
Xperia L if only for the dual core, RAM, and same portable dimensions. doesn't have Reality Display nor Bravia engine.
Xperia V if you want to get the faster dual core and better GPU (Adreno 225) for the same portable dimensions. Plus is water & dust proof.
Xperia SP for fastest dual core and best GPU (Adreno 320), however it gets bigger and heavier.
Xperia ZL for quad core and best GPU (Adreno 320), but is even bigger.
imho, seems Xperia V is the next logical step.

Hi guys,
I am really confused between these, not able to decide next phone.
Currently using xperia Arc, wat do u suggest..
sent from xperia aRc !!
Note all the way
Better hardware
Sent from my LT15i using XDA Premium App
The Note have a BIG screen, both advantages and disadvantages. But if you feel like you can live with the disadvantages with a very big phone it is awsome with that big screen.
The xperia S appears to be a very nice phone too. take a look on this epic review!
http://www.swedroid.com/sony-xperia-s-review/
Xperia S camera is better than Galaxy note
but Galaxy note hardware is better than Xperia S
yeah that is what, actually I am still big fan of Sony mobiles but Xperia S somehow NOT forcing me to change from xperia Arc to S !!!
Look wise xperia Arc rock, camera also doesn't impressed me, also I will miss the physical buttons if I go for Xperia S..
I'd pick Note. Better hardware and enormous screen(it might be a problem for some of us, but I think it's just ideal. Fits in my pocket.)
If you ask me, i'll go with Note,
The Xperia S is great with its floating touch feature and the Note had bigger screen and beat the Xperia S with it's hardware, in my opinion (i don't own one anyways)
Wooh gr8 to see xperia owners suggesting for Note
will be getting galaxy note next weekend.

IMO Note. It would work as your phone + tablet. Only need carry one device.
Yeah.
And the new Xperias were also nice last year. Still don't get how Sony could use the old S3 CPU in the 2012 Xperias...
Sent from my iPad 2 using Tapatalk
I say note is mini tablet not mobile
I dont like any of them...
It would be great an Arc S with updated hardware
well, neither.
i guess asus padfone is a better implementation of tablet+phone than the galaxy note..
arc/arc s with non plasticity body, 4.65inch screen, better hardware is what i want this year..
supposedly it call the hayabusa.
but for now i'll root for xperia s due to it pocket able size, better camera, better screen and sound than the note..

I don't own one, but Xperia launcher should work on Note. There's a thread somewhere in Xda. There is an .apk that works like any other launcher.
My wife has a Note. She loves it. I on the other hand am not that excited about it but I'm not a hardware geek. I like a phone that's practical and that I can use with one hand. I love my Arc S and my next phone will probably be from the Xperia series.

I prefer Xperia S, it more useful and its not so big like galaxy note, I just dont like the size of galaxy note, its not efficient

Compare arc S to U.... U wins by miles. It has a lot faster processor and a lot faster GPU.
Compare One V to arc S - One V wins by miles. One V has beautiful display + decent processor (it is 1ghz but in reality, it was underclocked by htc from 1.4 to 1ghz because of the casing).
Compare One V to U - Xperia U wins by miles IF you are interested only in playing games, running apps faster and you are not interested in any kind of deving, not even root.
Xperia comes with a powerful GPU, the MALI 400 - the one that you can find in Galaxy S2, and a dual core processor Cortex A9 - 1ghz - again - the same processor that comes with Galaxy S2.
So IF you want only playing games, multimedia and such... 100% go for Xperia U.
Have a nice day!

That's a very informtive response and i thank you for it but are you sure those are the specs of the xperia U? I think you may have mixed them up with the specs of the xperia P.
Also, woudn't the arc S be superior due to it's faster processor (than the one V). You say it wins by miles but why?

go for Xperia S.
I ordered the SL because it was on sale and the S was sold out.
It seems from the unboxing videos you get more of the accessories in the S, NFC tags & an additional screen protector. I don't think the SL came with those, not in the international versions at least.
The SL comes with a higher clocked speed, but the same CPU. There's also better bluetooth on the SL. Two additional colors are available for the SL too, Silver & Pink. Another change to note on the SL is the Xperia branding on the base strip, right under the transparent line.
Essentially it's the same device. Same chipsets, and S ROMs are reported to be working fine on the SL.

Battery hungry is an understatement

If you want custom or modded ROMs, you should buy Xperia S, SP. Or if you want a phone with better specs buy the Ion or Acro S.
Maybe you can take a look at HTC One S? It has got some decent specs. It has only 16 Gb inbuilt memory though and there is no MicroSD slot, but as you come from Xperia U, I think that it may be enough for you.

Actually SP I can't pay that much. In my country which is India price difference is there a lot between two. I would had gone for SL but it has 26 gb storage with no memory card slot, As for one S it's spec aren't as good as Ion.

The ion is a great phone, if you can unlock you bootloader. I like my ion but with an unlockable bootloader I'm just bored as hell. For me, my future phone choice will come down to bootloader status as much as specs.
Having high end components but not be able to do anything with them is pointless.
