Question about porting - Sprint LG Optimus G

Now that we have an AOSP base to work from, I would like to try to try poring a rom or two over... I ported a rom for the Epic 4g, but it was fairly cut and paste... just wondering if porting for the LGOG will give any trouble with EFS or anything else, willing to give it a try this weekend though if I have some time, I wanna see how pacman runs on here... I'm assuming that I can pull most roms from the N4... any heads up would be appreciated though...

Can't answer this, but I'm very excited to see ports starting!

[REQUEST]Request to port this ROM[REQUEST]

Hello beloved ROM Developers ,
I have actually never created a Request thread on XDA, so this is a first. It's a simple request for a ROM port, however, being completely oblivious to ROM development, I am not sure how simple it would actually be to implement it. I have reached out to the original Dev of this ROM, but did not hear anything back, so I thought I'd try my luck here. I am basically an EVO convert, now on VZW, with a DInc. I have been trying various ROMs for the DInc, but for some reason I keep missing the ROM I had on my EVO.
So, here goes nothing. Can someone please be kind enough to try and port this ROM to DInc?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=808656
I understand that there is a similar ROM for DInc, I believe it's called Carbon Fusion or something like that, but in my trial of it, it lacked stability, speed, and the depth of customization that this EVO ROM has in it.
It's a humble request guys, please don't flame me, thanks for reading !
Have you tried GB?

Indeed it is man, very stable, and very good looking ROM, I hope someone can take this up, I would be so grateful !
jaysckap, thanks for the suggestion, but I am Sense guy, all the way man... maybe when they have one with Sense ?
Thanks for reading guys !
I'm sure you know this already, but just in case, I think Incredible Re-engineered by Chingy and Redemptive Revolution are EVO ROM's. There are also a few others, but cant recall them right now.
But if you want something with new features, and some cool widgets, I suggest you check out The Desire Z ROM's. I wont use anything but Z ROM's now. They are very smooth.

Are you liking this rom for how it works or how it looks? Because it looks like a sense rom. If you like it for how it looks im sure it would be easier to just make a theme.

For the lag, try switching kernels, I was having a little lag also. cant remember what kernel I switched to, but it cleared up the problem.
I also came from a D1, which I had for a year, and I love this Dinc. I am currently running mmmark's port of VirusROm. But I have had great luck with Super-Z standard by wes342

mashed it together with incredibly re-engineered and got it to boot and seems that everything works.
Very cool looking rom! Not sure where I can upload it, but I will if you'd like
edit: booting again and I'll let ya know what happens. This was done quickly and is by no means going to be supported or guaranteed to be identical to the donor rom, but it might be a good start for you.

synisterwolf, I like this ROM for it's perfect blend of looks, performance, stability, and content. I too would not be opposed to a theme, but I thought it might be easier to ask someone to just look at the ROM to see exactly what's in there, and if it could all be cooked into one single ROM for the DInc. Again, I hope someone can do it... I remember hearing that EVO and DInc frameworks and development is very similar. So I wonder if it's only a matter of replacing the base with the latest Verizon, instead of Sprint, and then taking everything that's in the EVO ROM, while changing things that might matter, like the keyboard or the camera app, perhaps?
I haven't tried the Z ROMs at all, but this is because everyone one of them have bugs listed out on the main page, with camera issues, and even lag, as you mentioned... Perhaps the Thunderbolt dump and other things might be able to assist with these gaps?
Thanks again for the interest here, guys. If you would also like to see this ROM ported, please be sure to mention it in this thread, I am sure some generous developer will take a look at it ?

I just remember a dev on here made a script that could port roms from evolution to inc. Ill search around and see if I can find it.

If nothing pans out with getting this ported, try a Z rom. They appear to be very similar. Dont be scared off by the Issues they talk about. Dev's seem to do this for the Z, but they are very nice ROM's. The only issue that remains is basically the 720 recording, which I dont use. I have never experienced the 3G drops, and most dont.

alright here's the deal. I mashed this between chingy51o's incredibly re-engineered and xxbabboixx228's rom. I take absolutely no credit for the work and it is not identical to babiboi's rom.
Also you still see some remnants of chingy's rom in it that someone else if they want can clean up if they want to make a release from it.
I have not pm'd either of them to ask if I can make a release of it, as I do not intend to support it or make a public release thread etc. etc.
I will post it on dropbox and like I said, I'm not claiming any of the work or this rom, anyone can ask for permission from them to start a release thread for it and I only made this for the OP and my personal use.
edit: going another route, I'll report in a few. I really don't want to release anything, no matter what my intentions are, with parts from their rom without permission. Going to go for a direct port rather than mash together, don't really see the point in a frankenstien mess

I have trock79 and I think I have mentioned it in my thread too. It's great work, but not exactly to my liking.
I was not sure if you were open to taking requests to make changes to your ROM, based on User requests, so I didn't want to bother you. The EVO ROM was almost exactly how I wanted it, so it was just easy to explain, that is, just request a straight port.
I hope you are not offended or anything man, I liked your ROM too!

[Q] About Porting Roms

I had a thought today while at work and wanted to try my hand at porting over the LiquidMetal rom from the Acer over to our phones. Now, I know this isn't something thats easy to do (especially if you've never done any dev work or port a rom over before, like me.), and I know that if I just wanted to get the rom to boot, I can just swap the kernel's out and the rom should at least boot.
I want to (hopefully) use jermaine151's rom over at the Droid Incred. forum as the rom to port over, but, I still havent asked him as this is still just an idea and I wanted some insight as to what Im doing to need to make this happen.
I know Im going to have to port over a lot of lib files and drivers for wifi and such, so, my question is what would I need so I can at least get this rom up and running?
Also, Im downloading the Source Code for LiquidMetal as I type this, but, I dont know which would be easier to work on, compiling from source or working on a direct port.
Any opinions on this? Any tips would be great.
EDIT: Nevermind. Someone is already working on a port over in the dev section and its bootable already.
Don't have anything to say but if you port liquid metal from acer to our G2 i will love you forever, even if it sounds gay.
Fly like a G2
Thanks. Hopefully I can get the ball rolling soon.

Ubuntu touch

Alright this is a thread for all of your thoughts, opinions and help for Ubuntu Touch.
Here is my request:
I kind of want Ubuntu Touch for the AT&T S3 I am willing to help in anyway necessary. I just need a direction. I don't know how to make roms, but I am a fast learner.
Here is a porting guide/link:https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Porting
Here is my thought.
I WANT IT NOW!!!!
There is actually a port being made for the VZW s3 i belive on another forum some linked it on here a while back. it was still far from ready but it is in the works

So Do I!!
These Devs Are Not Concentrating On How To Make things Run Smooth Anymore Like They Use To. Just About What New Features They Can Throw Into There Roms From Newer Phones & Move On.
guys. Before you go to far with insulting devs let me remind you that these devs are working for free on their own time and share their works with your all. They don't owe you nothing. You have no right to tell them what they do or don't.
If you want latest and greatest you are going to deal with issues. Or you can use the stock based ones that are great but less bleeding edge features. Either way please be respectful to those who work hard for us beside they have their family to take care of.
Back to the subject please try either synergy rom or hyperdrive rom for multiview rom. They work real well. But for stable stock based try infamous rom.. Hope this help.
we are all Noobs at XDA. please help each other.

Custom Roms

I'm looking to put a custom ROM on my phone and was wondering what ROM i should do or what the good ones where and why. Thanks for your time.
first there are threads already about this. second they have been closed for a reason. best rom threads usually create tension amongst users and devs. not to mention what may fill my needs may not be what you want. the best thing would be to look at them choose which ones look good to you as far as features. then flash them and try them out. goodluck

Try Minitab (N7100) port to sprint by ram9200. Thats all I have to say
I recommend using Mack's Plain Jane ROM.
Get in the habit of making nandroids and become a flashaholic. Eventually (maybe) you'll come across the rom that 'just fits'. then you'll be set. But until that time have fun and enjoy the adventure that is XDA. Try some stock, some custom TW, some AOSP, some ports from other devices. And remember that there are multiple variasion (i.e. different kernels) within each rom. So explore and have fun, then come back and tell us which the best rom is for you and why!
