Hi XDA,
I've searched in many threads but i can't find an anwser.
I've bricked my Galaxy Gio when i flashed a custom kernel. It was the kernel in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1319816
Now it does nothing, I can't boot in any mode, not in download mode, not in recovery mode...
I have android 2.3.3 Gingerbread.
Is there any way to unbrick or is my phone just an expensive decoration now.
Thanks in Advance.
Hi !!!
same new here
This ll work in some cases
Hope this will work in your device as well
Pull the battery to kill the boot loop (or whatever is hosed up), put the phone into downloading mode and re-flash the stock ROM.
Free to try...
Thanks for quick reply but i can't go into download mode as i said. Also my phone is just totally off and won't boot at all. My pc also doesn't detect it when it is plugged in.

If not even adb detects it, i'm pretty sure you're buggered, mate.
did you try and leave the battery out for some 10 min or more?
If adb does not detect the phone after that, then it seems to be a brick for real.
Is your phone stop at the "samsung" when you turn on your phone?
If is this,it's very easy to unbrick
One easy procedure which you might want to try with no guarantee it'll work:
-Remove the battery, microSD and SIM from the phone.
-Prepare the Odin software and your ROM on a known working system
-Connect the phone to the computer with the USB cable.
-With one hand, simultaneously hold Volume down, home and power.
-With your other hand, put the battery in the phone.
I was able to get Odin to detect an otherwise bricked phone this way. I was however unable to get further than the "setup connection" step. Maybe your outcome will be better.

Darkshado

Yes this way usually works. I've tested this way.
that worked for me to on a brick when it didnt even went on, no recovery, download mode etc, after waiting 2 weeks and trying to repair it myself I nearly throw it away, and then suddenly it went into download mode for about 1 or 2 seconds, wich told me the battery whasn't working.. so I started to charge the battery, and hoped it would boot, but it didn't.. using that method given above, I could get into download mode again, and flashes a new stock ROM. now I still have my phone, working.

I had my mainboard replaced at a service center... Probably not the news you would have liked, but I'm afraid that's your next step as well.

Did you try to go into recovery or download modes?
do you use any SD card?
Sdcard....lol that's embedded in the phone. No choice in sdcards. And if the phone won't boot its very hard to get into the recovery at all

But you can always try to go into recovery or download modes, if you can go there you can wipe everything or re-install stock firmware using computer.
And sometimes it can be faulty SD card too (I mean some damaged files on it) so that's why I asked if he is using SD card or not.
No he can't ! Blimey......as you can NOT turn on the phone in any way.....then you can't go to the bootloader and also not into the recovery. We have no so called download modes. And the sdcard can not be removed ! Its not a Samsung

Asking if he had an SD card is pointless as the hox has no expandable capabilities.

Why are you replying to the question if you don't know the hardware and how it works ? I think its not that smart........ and no is has no sdcard slot.
I'm not repying in a Samsung, or iPhone forum ......why ? Because i know crap about those phones. Stick to stuff you know but don't go guessing around. Its a valuable piece of electronics

Smart or not but everybody make mistakes, and we can learn from them.
hehe, luckily I am not fanboy of Samsung, nor of other-branded phones, I just like getting some new info of the various phones, and to know their pros and cons, it's quite cool, lol.
I know but this is the Q&A section where people would like to know facts from people who kinda know what they are talking about. Need info, go read the stickies and tutorials !

That's not a good sign, keep trying.....hold the power button & the volume - button together, do that couple of times. Hopefully it starts to the bootloader. And what happends when you connect it to the pc ?

Have you tried re-flashing a stock ftf onto your phone. Though if your computer doesn't detect your phone while its in flashmode, you might have a hard brick. If so, you have two options, buy a new phone or send your phone to sony to get it fixed. Good luck

They will know that your device is running custom ROM.. They will connect your device to PC using EMMA software and it will not detect your device or its model number (if it is Hard brick) then they will Send it back to you.... If it's really a Hard Brick then nothing they can do.....
Report me back if they will give your device back and let's try some other things and see if it can work... I also got my device bricked and send it to Sony center and they gave it back to me saying it's Hard Brick and I have messed up with my device Software... But my device use to vibrate and I tried something and it's working fine now

If the issues occured after partitioning the SD Card, did you try removing it and booting without SD Card inserted?
If the SD Card is the problem, then it can't be a hard brick, according to my logic.

i'd suggest going into fastboot and then reflashing the stock image if you don't mind losing your data.
if that doesn't work i'd suggest going to a shop of some sort.

Hi, I tried to flash 20b through twrp tonight.
I did factory reset, then flashed the bootstack, then flashed the system. But after that, my phone won't power on. I tried to remove the battery, holding power button for a long time, or power+volumn down.
The phone just does not respond at all. Can anybody help? Thanks!

when I had that problem I figured out that it was the battery that was making the phone act weird. Since LG sent me another battery when they had the promotion I used the other spare and that fixed it for me.
This happens right after I flashed the new system, I doubt it is the batter problem. If I plugged into the computer it still won't power on.
(If I remove the battery and plug into computer, the screen of the phone does show some symbol, probably regarding missing memory).
Let me try to see if I use kdz flash to reinstall the system. Thanks for the help.

This is why You don't flash the boot chain unless you absolutely must. I was running 20B with the old boot chain (other than rpm, that was updated) and it ran just fine. If you get a bad flash on the boot chain your sol.
