[Q] How to port ROM from another device to DInc?

Sorry if this question is in the wrong section or has already been asked. Seeing as it has to do with development I thought this section would be appropriate, and I couldn't find anything else really helping on this subject.
What I am wondering is does anyone have or know where a good guide on how to port a ROM from one device to another is? I have done some AOSP work in the past, so I'm not COMPLETELY new to ROM building, but I have had no success yet with porting anything.

Theres a flash patch somewhere that might work depending on what rom u want to port

he's talking about the IncredibleDoes AOSP flashpatch. Replaces files in AOSP builds to Inc ones.

I think IncredibleDoes was working on some sort of thing that made porting easier. I did a quick search but didn't find it, but it is around. Either way, he was definitely our most active dev in terms of porting. Best way to find him is on twitter @IncredibleDoes.

Oh okay, I just did a quick search for "Flash Patch" and found the one you are talking about, plus another that was built off that one. Thank you.

If I was going to learn how to port, after learning how to use the kitchen, I would look at some roms that are already ported and see how they did it.
First and most recent one that comes to mind is preludedrew's gingerbread rom.
Might even want to pm him about it as he is pretty active.

To correct this, Evervolv is not a 'port'. It is specifically built for the Droid Incredible platform. Exactly like CyanogenMod, which without them/that mod, Evervolv wouldn't have been possible. Sorry just wanted to clear that up =P

I dont need your smart ass comments. I know how to look, but I wanted peoples input instead of flashing a lot of different RoMs. SO either provide helpful comments or dont reply at all. If you dont like it dont read it.

I personally like Deck's Gingerbread ROM. It is one of the most stable and non-flashy AOSP roms out there. If you are wanting the 'latest/greatest' and don't mind being a 'tester' JaredtheGreat's ICS ROM is getting fairly stable.

Thanks man. I might give that a go. My wife just upgraded to the Evo 4G from the incredible (cricket wireless tho) and she likes AOSP roms better then sense.

It seems like people are confirming it working as well throughout the thread.
As far as rom suggestions, I suggest wicked for TW and Slim Bean for AOSP. Good luck

No it dosnt since it's AOSP

[Q] Which rom do you use?

The topic is on.
Which ROM do you use( may + kernel) and why?
And which rom do you recommend for me if I need full Sense UI with eqs and statusbar qucik settings?
I tried a lot of rom but for now, none of these is correct for me. (The best is Nik rom but the widgets allways FC )
So I decided to ask you guys, which rom do you use and why?

Well i made my point. Just figure it out for yourself what you need in a rom and decide wich one is the most popular for you, don't go running off on someone else's opinion about a rom.

Yep, i tried a lot of rom and don't find a perfect for me.
That's why i started to looking for the most popular roms.
As you say i learnd from the closed topics so now i only want to know which is the most popular, not wich is the best, stabilest, nicest, smootest etc.

Well you certainly did not learn after all your threads with the same kind of approach. The conclusion stays the same, you want to know what is the most popular rom and assume then that its the best one around ! That's wrong and inaccurate, roms are absolutely personal stable or not !

I see you don't understand what am I need.
I'm NOT looking for the "best", "stabilest", etc. Rom.
I just want to know which rom the users prefer.
In the N7 General topic there is a poll where you can vote which rom do you use atm.
When I have same free time i do the same here.
Not just for me.
For everyone who wanna know which rom is the "popular"
And it can help for the devs ,they can see which rom beat there own rom. May inspired what they missing from the rom.

See that's where you go wrong in my opinion, there is no rom beaten by another !!!! They are all great, some have different themes to offer other have different tweaks. They all have their own unique settings.

Since all chips are made differently....at first I went with the obvious choice of viper x. On ICS i got battery life for something like 36 hours every day use. Then, with JB, the phone battery nosedived faster than if i threw it out of a plane..tried different kernels but no reasonable change. So I had to change and now I'm on InsertCoin with stock kernel. Happiness contained

Hmm.. you still don't understand..
I do not said it's some kind of competition.
All about the users, which they want in a rom.
That's why we have a lot of rom.
It's just a simple question which rom is popular.Not best or stabelest.. or something else.
I'm just interested about this question which rom the users use mostly.
Im just interested and thats all.
So when i have some free time i start a poll on the general topic becouse i want to know that.
If you don't care about it just make a vote and leave the topic.
I don't break any rules if i make a poll.

Weird. There are quite a few badass tw roms. MOAR is pretty sweet and the dev is about to release a huge update. Check out the development thread.

I have that one, I was stuck between MOAR and hyperdrive rom, but they're basically the same. NOW, I'm waiting for the MOAR update. thanks

As said...they are all great. Please read the ROM threads thoroughly so you know exactly what you are putting on your $700 device.
