I'm not sure how or why but recently, my apps have been forced closing. I'll be on my phone when suddenly every app in the background is closed. It is really annoying and I can't figure out how to stop it.
Die anyone have any experience worth this problem?

What rom?
Did you flash the correct version of gapps for your rom (if AOSP)?
Did you restore and data?
A full wipe and clean flash from your previous rom?
Removed apps on stock rooted that you shouldnt have?
All of that is if you're rooted, if not, since when has this been happening? Installed any new apps recently? Changed any important settings recently?
Rooted pacman rom, Android 4.1.1
I wiped data and cash in recovery.
Restored apps via titanium backup like usual.
This only started recently (that I noticed).
All I can recall would be deleting the Gemini virus and updating android tuner.
Cheers.

Did you restore any Data? Did you restore any system apps? Did you restore any System App Data? Any or all of these can cause issues.

I restored user app and data with one system app (paranoid preferences).
I took a look at my logs and found this image *attached*
What ever activity 628 is, it likes to kill all background apps. Anyone know how to backtrack the app?

You have several options. Option one which is what I would do. Is to do Full Wipe. Then Flash the Rom again. Without restoring any apps, or data. Let it settle, and see if all the FC issues are resolved. Option two is Boot into Recovery, Wipe Dalvik, Wipe Cache, Fix Permissions, and reboot. Option three is Wipe Data, and Cache for all the apps you restored. Then reboot.

RW-R-R. The app has to have those permissions set or it will not work correctly. I use Root Explorer to set and fix my permissions. It all makes a lot more sense when you see it yourself.
Here is an example:

System apps need to have certain permission set on them...so do things in /system/xbin and /system/bin and in other places
Fixing permissions set the correct permissions on everything so that there are no issues
It can be done in Recovery. It is in the advanced menu.

Fixing permissions can fix many force close issues. I'd recommend you do what prboy1969 said and wipe cache and dalvik-cache, fix permissions, and tell us the results. If that doesn't work, there's something else going on, like voltage problems with an overclock.
I'll give it a go and report back. Wish me luck.
Thank you to all of you for your help. This is why I love this community.
Cheers.

I decided to flash on an update to the rom so we'll see how this is goes. If it force closes I will wipe cache and fix permissions.
Though I want to ask about a separate problem all together, battery life. Before et rooting, I had 9 hours plus of battery life, now I barely get 7. I lose 30% of my battery in two hours. How does that work?
Cheers.

How much screen on time? If you have very little screen on time, try using Better Battery Stats to find out if there is a wakelock that could contribute to screen off battery usage.

I've used Cyanogen Mod for quite a while without issue. Then, last week my camera started force closing. So far as I knowing didn't change any settings or install an app that would mess with it. Haven't updated radios, etc...it just stopped. I've cleared the cache in apps settings, there is space on the card.
Any suggestions? Thanks!
clear cache and dalvik from recovery, and reboot. If that doesnt work, you will probably have to reflash the rom.

Shouldn't lose anything, as you are just clearing cache files. However, it can never hurt to do a backup first, only takes a couple minutes.
Ugh. I did a full wipe and upgraded to 7.1 (was on 7.0.2)...Camera is still FC'ing...again, it works with other apps (Vignette, Goggles) but not the stock camera. It worked just fine until two weeks ago...and then, nothing. No clue why. :/
Well, now it works...I did one more wipe and it just started working. Thanks!
Try fix permissions, worked for me

If you want to use the 4.0.4 Gapps (which work 100% and include the new Camera and Browser) you will need to do a data wipe.
Here are the 4.0.4 Gapps.. These Gapps should work with any 4.0.3 ROM.. Although if you are installing them for the first time you will need to do a data wipe.. So while your at it and wiping data why not go ahead and try out the new GummyNex;-)
Enjoy

Wiping data then flashing gapps causes bootloops. Had to battery pull and flash nandroid. AOKP & faux's #12.

I think he means you have to wipe then install rom then install gapps. Like you normally would when flashing.

Can you tell us why we must wipe data? I'm just curious. Are there certain folders we can wipe to not have to do a whole device re-do?

Simple why: Because some apps will be unstable if you don't.
Real reason why: Some apps probably changed their data format a bit, making them incompatible with data from the older version.
In theory, you can go into app management and delete data for these apps, but there are almost 40 of them in this update. Sounds a bit dangerous.

Any chance we could get a list? Or better yet a CWM flash-able zip that wipes the data on those apps
There's no guarentee that would even work, better (safer) to just tibu and flash the rom you're currently on imho if you want nothing to change.
You def need to wipe, I tried for the hell of it without wiping just flashed a rom and cleared dalvik and cache. Nothing worked from Google except maps, so ima wipe later and do it right. Maybe even the blue will come back to my signal and 3g and 4g instead of being grey all the time.

Has anyone who's currently running Gummy with 4.03 apps had success flashing over? Or did that also require data wipe, reflash ROM, flash 4.04 apps?

You have to wipe no matter what rom your on bc of the old data it has to replace overwriting won't work. Gotta start fresh.

So i can confirm if anyone is having the problem with the signal bars and 3g/4g staying grey not turning blue, wiping data and flashing 4.0.4 gapps as fresh install brings it back to normal.
What are the changes in the apps? I can't even see the difference lol

I've run into a situation where my gn2 will not start an app when I tap on an app icon. Instead it just returns to the home screen. If I reboot it goes away for awhile. I've tried clearing the cache and the davlik cache, but it still happens. Any suggestions? Thanks!
What os are you running? Stock or a rom

Thanks for responding! I'm using the stock JB (with the recent update to 4.1.2). I'm rooted and have team win recovery 2.3.3.1 installed using Goomanager.
Do a full wipe of the device, both system and data, and re-flash your ROM. Clear all caches again too.

I'd try the following. Uninstall the app, reboot. .. reinstall and reboot again. ..

Thanks for that suggestion. Since I just recently installed the sammy upodate to 4.1.2 I was hoping there was another option to try. Your method may be what I will need to do.

Good suggestion. However it's not a particular app. It happens to all of them at once. When I reboot, it goes away (temporarily). I agree it may have started with a particular app, however I have no way (that I know) to figure out which one it is. I'm also only running apps I've used for a long time. Nothing really new which might have brought along some baggage.
Hey all, so I flashed the chemistry ROM and Goodness 8.0.3, which both have multi window. After I try to power on my phone after a full shut down, neither ROM seems to boot without me going into recovery and clearing both cache. Anyone else experience this or have a workaround?

I just had the same issue I installed chemistry on my phone worked with no problems but on my moms phone i went into a bootloop after rebooting. I had to go into recovery do a factory reset wipe cache and dalvik cache and reflash the Rom all seems to be working now. Oh it was chemistry v5 btw.
Edit
Did you retore any system data with TB then hit fix permissions thats what was causing the problem for me.

I did install non-system apps thru TB and installed latest Ktoonz kernel. Just not sure why either would result in a boot loop now.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk 2
Try flashing a different kernel, and try fixing permissions through rom manager, then reboot wipe cache and dalvik, make it run the optimizing apps thing.

Lately I am getting this on every boot. I wipe cache, dalvik. fix permissions. factory reset all that and it still happens. Anybody have any ideas on how to fix it.? I am really good at fixing phones but this is driving me nuts. Every rom I have installed in the past week has been doing the same thing. I used WHX roms. infamous, jellybam, etc. all of them I get the same thing. I used titanium backup to rejust apps only with no data and it still happens. Have apps2zip and used it ti flash my apps back I still get the same message " process system isn't responding" Appreciate any solutions thrown my way. I might figure it out myself but in the meantime I am up for suggestions. Thanks in advance.
Do you wipe system before you flash a new ROM?
