Is easy to do that you need to tyoe in google htc unblock
you can search and find the htc unlock i dont remmeber the name, you go there you need to sign up and choose you phone later you need to follow every step, and later is ready to make root, you need to download the new ruu choose eu ruu

Hi,
I was trying to root my phone with the guide that is on this forum, but then when i restarted my phone, it was stuck on the white "HTC" boot screen. Then i tried to do a "Factory Reset" in hboot and rebooted, and still stuck on the boot screen. I tried to put a PD98IMG.zip as it was prompted in hboot as "no image or wrong file", so i loaded PD98IMG.zip onto my SD card, and still not working. any suggestions ?
my phone is S-ON.
I guess your phone is branded ? If that's the case, you need to follow the tutorial for a goldcard.
Also, if your rom is 1.7x or 1.8x, you can't root it. You have to follow the downgrade tutorial 1st
Mine took 30 mins to boot once. You could try the ruu look in dev section, you just flash it from Windows, then start again. Was your she branded?

I was in the same situation, downgraded ROM and clockwork mod and did a restore and it works fine now
@Howling Wolf - I cannot get the CID for the SD card, because
in the 'adb shell' command, my command prompt says "error: device not found". But i want to know, can i still get the CID through another HTC desire phone ? and can i still update a stock rom with S-ON ? and how do i know if my phone is branded ?
I got my phone from Taiwan, a friend brought it over for me, and when i last checked it was on software version 1.37.921.1 .
@turbo_d - ill try that thnx
did you try installing the htc sync software then do adb devices
ye i did, i installed HTC sync to get the HTC drivers, but from what i noticed is that your phone needs to be "running" instead of being stuck on the white HTC boot screen or even the hboot doesnt pick up the device aswell >.<

Try going into bootloader, and then run adb from pc..
@SAPPH1RE - i tried that but thanks for the help !
ok i acquired my CID through linux, but now its telling me
main version is older !
update fail.
any suggiestions ? my current software version of the phone is 1.37, which stock RUU should i be using ?
If you are on 1.37 you should be fine to continue with getting s-off and such. You don't need to upgrade or downgrade your ROM until you achieve s-off. And then you should upgrade to a custom ROM such as LeeDroid.

did you get it working ?
I fixed mine a few weeks back by doing a full wipe and then loading a fresh ROM
Thing is, i cant get my phone to start up, so i need to flash a stock rom, so that i can get my phone started and then do S-OFF. But it keeps telling me "Main Version is older!"
ive tried 2 roms already, 1.32 and 1.72 RUU. What could be the problem ?
thnx problem solved, the gold card wasnt done properly, so i re did everything.
thnx for the help guys !

@paulcoop007 i have same problem with you, same version with your phone and S-ON. and my phone at black screen with htc. how can i fix it. can you explain how did you fix your phone?
Ive just receive my htc wildfire s from the repair shop after hard bricking it by myself, they manage to bring my phone back to access bootloader but still stuck on htc green and white logo when you just turn it on,they used jtag method..my problem is I dont know what firmware should i use to flash my phone and bring it back to stock gingerbread firmware..
here is my bootloader info :
hboot - 0.90.000
radio - 7.46.35.08
I dont have any ***locked*** or ***unlocked*** phrase on the first line indicated - (and ive read some articles in other forum that it is necessary to update the bootloader to have ***locked oow*** appear on my bootloader and update my hboot to 1.08.0099 - 1.10.000 and then unlocked my bootloader via htc.dev officially).
one more thing , ive tried flashing extracted ruu from football's post because like what ive said my phone is stuck on htc white and green logo when turning it on after a jtag...but my log says that "main version is older" ,, i tried it using goldcard and plain micro sd card.. So the big question is WHAT firmware or rom should i flash in order to use my phone again?? do i need to update bootloader first??? or what..what method should i use??? thus my wildfire s is still brick or un recoverable???

okay.i really confuse about your problem right now.but what is situation of your phone right now?
is it working?
any rom installed in it?
if you can have any rom installed.you can download ROM MANAGER from play store and then from it,you can flash clockworkmod recovery.
and i will give you european stock rom 2.3.5 which is flashable zip.so hassle free.but you need recovery to flash it.

your hboot is 0.90.000 so and you dont have any signs like locked unlocked on your bootloader menu.its meaning your phone is not rooted.
so for custom firmware you have to root your phone.and secondly if it's got back from service center it should be in working condition.if it's not.you can go to service center again.they people have stock firmware in sdcard.
they will put sdcard in your phone and install original firmware.then you dont need to root and all your phone..
thanks but the problem is in my first post.

first of all you need to update your phone version to 2.3.5
go to settings>about phone>software updates
and update software.then your phone will be updated to 2.3.5 as well as your hboot will be updated then you can able to root your phone.
and if you not able to update software do factory reset and then try to update software.(once somone has same problem after factory reset he ll be able to update his software)
good luck

hello ... i am a newbie android user . i want to unlock bootloader and root my htc wildfire s . please help me out how to do it . i have tried in HTC Dev . but there is needed to upgrade RUU but i didnt found any RUU for my htc wildfire s . my RUU version is (software no.) 2.26.841.4 . plz help me out .. thnx in advance
No, try without update RUU
First u must unlock bootloader, than boot recovery.img(if u have WFS 2012 or younger, u need special files for WFS2012)
After this, download root.zip, and pick on SDcard, and on recovery flash it. and tadaaaaaaaa.....
U have rooted! easy

Just do the HTC Dev unlocking without updating RUU (just skip that step). I've had the exactly same problem and when I skipped it, everything worked well anyway.

Have you tried holding volume up and power buttons for about 10 seconds and see if you get a recovery option.

What exactly are you trying to flash (file name)?
You can only flash signed, official files with a locked bootloader. And the file must be intended for your M8 version (Verizon).

You can only get s-off with a working OS on the phone. So s-off is not going to help you in this case.

No, its probably not even a true brick, since the screen comes on. Just hang in there, and we'll get it running again.
Try the official Verizon RUU: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-htc-one-m8/general/official-ruu1-55-605-2-t2883845
Use the RUU that matches the OS version that was on the phone when the problem arouse (LP or MM).
Be aware that RUU will fully wipe whatever user data was on the phone. But I think we're past that point, anyway (of being able to back up or retrieve anything).
