[DEV] [MOD] [HOW-TO] Remove roaming notification - Note2 MA7 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

Please give thanks/credit if you use this in your ROM - Donations are also appreciated!
This removes the rather annoying little notification when roaming saying you have lost data connectivity. It's pointless, annoying, and just gets in the way. We already have the roaming icon on the signal strength icon. We don't need another one, right !?
Decompile SecPhone.apk (there a few files that need to be corrected to recompile. Search XDA as there are already threads on this)
Edit SecPhone/smali/com/android/phone/PhoneApp$1.smali and remove the following lines in red below
Code:
:sswitch_4
iget-object v10, p0, Lcom/android/phone/PhoneApp$1;->this$0:Lcom/android/phone/PhoneApp;
iget-object v10, v10, Lcom/android/phone/PhoneApp;->notificationMgr:Lcom/android/phone/NotificationMgr;
[COLOR="Red"]invoke-virtual {v10}, Lcom/android/phone/NotificationMgr;->showDataDisconnectedRoaming()V[/COLOR]
goto :goto_0
.line 595
:sswitch_5
iget-object v10, p0, Lcom/android/phone/PhoneApp$1;->this$0:Lcom/android/phone/PhoneApp;
iget-object v10, v10, Lcom/android/phone/PhoneApp;->notificationMgr:Lcom/android/phone/NotificationMgr;
[COLOR="Red"]invoke-virtual {v10}, Lcom/android/phone/NotificationMgr;->hideDataDisconnectedRoaming()V[/COLOR]

Sorry about the short response. First, I am trying this on a rooted stock image. Maybe that's the issue? I am 100% roaming in my office. They have placed Verizon repeaters all over the building squashing out my Sprint signal.
I have observed that the fix seems to work at first. I wasn't able to determine what I did, but after about a half hour or so, the roaming indicator flashed again. I think I turned on the wifi at that point so wonder if that executed a command to look for a local cellular signal? When I went into settings to look at the Roaming setting the phone locked up. I pulled the battery and tried to access those settings again. Again the phone locked up.
I hope that helps in some way.

[Q] System update?

I am rooted with Mortify ROM right now, but I keep getting a system update message. It only gives me the options to install it now or later. Will this screw up my phone, cause it is working fantastic for once and I don't want to have to go through a whole mess to make it work again.
TIA
It won't screw it up. It will fail, and then you will do a battery pull and restart it. It will, however, continue to pop up several times a week until you use the search to find the permanent solution.
(Hint: its several posts down and titled something like "running clean GB and prompted to update to FC09).

The permanent fix is to modify your build.prop to reflect you have fc09 instead of fb15 fc09 is the latest ota that's why your getting that notification. I will link you the how to. But to do it you use terminal emulator and follow the commands.

even if you dont upgrade your android version, you still might want to think about updating your modem via odin.

flastnotes, the problem is that, alot of threads on this site are scattered all over the place. so for a new persion to figure out how to find a specific thread or so, is actually kind of difficult.

When I first signed up at xda you didn't see me posting the same things over and over again... whether its general or development, you should still search... if you have a question, I can almost guarantee you it has been asked/answered already! [Q] titanium freeze list

Hey all, so new to the sgs3 as of yesterday, I remember finding a list that named off all the processes that you could freeze with Titanium for my sgs2... wondering if anyone has a list of removing the bloatware from our phones.
Seems with nothing installed, the phone is using almost 500 ram, where as the sgs2 was down to 264 on a boot...
So any and all help would be great
Also, is the cfroot the best way to go with rooting the sgs3?
Thanks

I really don't know. I would suggest maybe disabling bloat first and using your phone for a few days.... This way you can see if you've disabled something that you require. If all is good then freeze. Also, if you do run into problem, you can always go back to stock. I'd have to do some more digging to see the difference....

[Q] Any way to fine-tune volume adjustment?

I'm growing increasingly more disappointed with Android's volume control.. it seems like most of the levels are pretty okay, but once you get towards the middle there's a point where it goes from too quiet to too loud.
How can I solve this issue? More specifically, how can I increase the control I have over my volume output?
You could try Volumizer from the Play Store.
There's a build.prop tweak that lets you decrease the step size between the jumps

It's been a LONG time since I've seen the exact code for it, so it would take some searching
Basically, each time you press the VolUp/VolDown buttons, it goes up by a certain amount, right? This tweak let's you change that to make it smaller, and therefore easier to select the right volume level
So instead of going by steps of 14 units, for example, you can change it to steps of 10, 8, etc

Unfortunately that method is a bit old and the resources referenced are no longer consistent with the process.
Turns out the method I posted is for HTC One only. Just figured that out. Dammit.
Here is another volume mod thread,, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42631958
Sent from my HD2 using xda app-developers app
All three methods posted are exactly the same.
But the "safer, updated" version seems like it is for another device, because we do not have any of those roms and that mod was made specifically for each those roms' frameworks.
The thread I posted says he can make it for all, he even has one made for an S3 CM 10.1 rom already. He says all he needs is you're framework.jar. ROM just needs to be deodexed.
