Is there any way I can prevent WiFi turning on automatically when I have data on and/or when I plug in my phone charger?
Thanks guys!

Go to settings and turn off the connections optimizer I think its under mobile network or something, I'm on CM so I can't check.

I'm running Calkulins E4GT 2 1.6. I've noticed a behavior where the wifi goes to sleep and on order to reconnect i have to turn it off and then back on to find wifi networks again. Any way to stop or fix this?

It's a known issue. Supposedly this does not happen on FF11 kernel. I will report back tomorrow to confirm.

This seemed to resolve the issue.
just like on my epic 4g, the wireless is constantly turning on for no reason. is there a way to just disable it so theres no option to turn on by itself?

Next time do a search. There are at least 4 of these threads.
Settings-more settings- mobile networks- connections optimizer.

i did search and did try that. did i do it incorrectly? i unchecked the box but that didnt help
Have you soft reset the phone since you unchecked that box? That might help.
Mine turns back on also after turning the optimizer off.
you can uninstall the optimizer with titanium

Hi guys. Just some interesting things things i found out about the s3. You can put it in airplane mode and turn on the bluetooth wifi connection and use it with a clear wifi port. And use groovelite and make calls.

Thank you! I just assumed you couldn't have some radios on and others in airplane mode. I get horrible cell coverage, so this should save me a lot of battery to only turn that off.

I am traveling to Europe this weekend. While I am over there, I would like to disable all mobile data on my phone. Occasional I would like to allow only one or two apps to connect to the network while restricting all others. Is there a way to do that? Maybe an app?
Thanks for your help.

You can disable your mobile data and just connect to WiFi

I've noticed this on mine too. Often I just turn on Wi-Fi and then turn it off and it will work.

I had the same problem when I first got the phone. A factory reset fixed it for me.

It's a network issue
Try toggling data or airplane mode usually fixes
