I've searched for answers to my question, but no luck. My Wifi at times won't connect, it'll say "Obtaining blah blah" then "Authenticating" then nothing. If I try and toggle the Wifi on and off, there's a 50/50 chance that it'll either restart my phone, or that it'll actually get my wifi. Any advice?

When Wifi is available but I'm not connected, I click update weather and before it gets a chance to connect to the wifi it switches to data, which I don't have, and then says, "connection error, retry?"
If it would just wait a second or two longer, wifi would be connected. (it's usually connect by the time I get the ?retry? screen, so i click retry and it's fine.
My previous ROM didn't have this issue. Is the a reg edit that adjusts this "time out" time???
Ok. So the weirdest thing happened. Yesterday at home, my phone was on WiFi, but my laptop wouldn't connect. Then out of the blue, the laptop just connected.
Now my phone, and even my mom's phone (same phone) won't connect to our home WiFi. There was NOTHING changed about our WiFi. Our phones just won't connect.
My mom has stock everything, so kernels or ROMs aren't the issue here.
This sounds like an issue with our router. I checked to see if our MAC addresses were blocked, and they weren't.
When connecting, it says
"Obtaining IP Address..."
--attempts to connect--
"Disable, secured with WPA WPA2 PSK"
After it attempts, this is what it says. Normally it'll state something like Connected 2Wire628.
BTW, this info is under "Wireless and Networks", and the listed access points, it gives you a brief description of what's going on under the SSID names.
So it's as if I typed in the wrong password on my phone. Obviously that's not the case since the phone just upped and stopped working. And yes I "Forget" the network and reconnected all over again, only for nothing to work.
And suggestions?
BTW, we have a 2Wire.
P.S. I haven't tried another WiFi, yet. This just happened tonight. I'll update when I can connect to another WiFi.
Sounds like a router issue.

Similar has happened to my 2wire, first time it got fixed by holding reset button down about 15 secs until lights start flashing, then unplug for 30 secs ,plug back in and all good.
Second time had to call my isp and they replaced it for free (router was about 2 years old) ...
Let us know how it goes ...
So every now and then when I get home from school, where I have no voice or data connection, I try to turn on my 4G and it gets stuck at "obtaining IP address". I know the 4G is working because my gf's epic tough 4G works just fine. I tried updating everything but nothing. I have to end up using hers or waiting until the next day and then my phone starts magically working again. Every time this happens I check my phone the morning after and it's working again. Anyone know what's causing this? Is there some way to refresh the connection? I have tried everything I could find online but nothing works. I never have any other issues besides this except the occasional 4G timing out and requiring me to restart it. I haven't made any changes to my phone in about a month either.
Out of the blue, my WiFi stopped working. I know occasionally this happens and is usually fixed by simply turning WiFi off then on again our by unplugging the router for about ten seconds, but neither of these methods is working this time. This is different, I'm stumped. (By the way I have the SM-P600)
So, the error message I'm getting is, "failed to obtain IP address", then if I click, "RETRY" I get an error message that says, "Network disabled because internet connection is too slow." Which doesn't make sense because all my other devices on my WiFi network have no problems connecting and have no speed issues.
Really, really frustrating. Any help would really be appreciated! Thanks!
The same problems occurs frequently with my tab P-601.
But I have to restart the tab and it works fine. I have to use mobile data for internet connection instead of wifi.
I appreciate any help.
Anybody else have this happen?
I haven't had this problem on my P600, but have had something like it happen on other devices. I think the issue is that Android will remember and avoid WiFi APs with a poor signal. When I am on the fringe of my home WiFi the signal is weak and my network gets blacklisted. To clear the blacklisting I have to force the device to forget the network, the connect again as a new network.
Couldn't detect WIFI
I updated the Android 4.4.2 and since then my tablet couldn't find my WIFI.
My phone and my computer found the network normally but my tablet just showed some of my neihbors' networks. I tried to restart the tablet and reset the router but didn't help.
Now I tried changing he router's settings through my computer and set the frequency to a higher value and now my tablet finds and connects to the WIFI normally!
Hi,
I'm having issues connecting to my WiFi network.
When I first got the phone, I connected, and it was saved.
A few days later, when I tried connecting, it went Connecting..., and then just went back to saying "Saved, secure" .
It doesn't connect to it.
Other devices in my house connect just fine.
To clarify, I am right next to my router.
Any help?
Thanks.

When in WiFi settings, go into the Advanced settings and maybe uncheck the 'Internet Unavailable' option and see if that fixes your issue. I very much doubt it will, however I believe it maybe worth a shot.
I'm 90% certain that the issue will be with your WiFi router, maybe have a look on forums around your router to see if anyone else has the same issue with their phone?
