So every now and then when I get home from school, where I have no voice or data connection, I try to turn on my 4G and it gets stuck at "obtaining IP address". I know the 4G is working because my gf's epic tough 4G works just fine. I tried updating everything but nothing. I have to end up using hers or waiting until the next day and then my phone starts magically working again. Every time this happens I check my phone the morning after and it's working again. Anyone know what's causing this? Is there some way to refresh the connection? I have tried everything I could find online but nothing works. I never have any other issues besides this except the occasional 4G timing out and requiring me to restart it. I haven't made any changes to my phone in about a month either.

My 3G randomly drops off for hours. No 3G icon, No data. Calling only every other word can be heard on each end, texts don't recieve reliably, 4G goes in and out. Cell connection drops, and goes to a bar or two, where normally I get full connection. Then the icon and data connection randomly re appear, everything works fine.
This happened when my evo was stock, and now that im rooted on both cm6 and seven, I have also returned my phone to sprint and received a replacement, same exact issue
Occasionally i get an error message saying "Data Call Failure error code 78 .network error. sign in failed please wait a moment blah blah"
Has anyone else had a similar issue? Any fixes?
Ok. So the weirdest thing happened. Yesterday at home, my phone was on WiFi, but my laptop wouldn't connect. Then out of the blue, the laptop just connected.
Now my phone, and even my mom's phone (same phone) won't connect to our home WiFi. There was NOTHING changed about our WiFi. Our phones just won't connect.
My mom has stock everything, so kernels or ROMs aren't the issue here.
This sounds like an issue with our router. I checked to see if our MAC addresses were blocked, and they weren't.
When connecting, it says
"Obtaining IP Address..."
--attempts to connect--
"Disable, secured with WPA WPA2 PSK"
After it attempts, this is what it says. Normally it'll state something like Connected 2Wire628.
BTW, this info is under "Wireless and Networks", and the listed access points, it gives you a brief description of what's going on under the SSID names.
So it's as if I typed in the wrong password on my phone. Obviously that's not the case since the phone just upped and stopped working. And yes I "Forget" the network and reconnected all over again, only for nothing to work.
And suggestions?
BTW, we have a 2Wire.
P.S. I haven't tried another WiFi, yet. This just happened tonight. I'll update when I can connect to another WiFi.
Sounds like a router issue.

Similar has happened to my 2wire, first time it got fixed by holding reset button down about 15 secs until lights start flashing, then unplug for 30 secs ,plug back in and all good.
Second time had to call my isp and they replaced it for free (router was about 2 years old) ...
Let us know how it goes ...
Ok guys, having a real problem here. Often when I am connected to either 3g or wifi my phone will stop picking up signal suddenly. AIt's almost every time and I will have to disconnect from the network manually and reconnect and it will instantly pick up signal again for a while then it'll repeat. When it suddenly stops it doesn't show on the status bar that I have lost any signal. With 3g its kinda just at a stand still not receiving or uploading and with wifi it just stays the same but I'm still not picking up a signal because by web pages won't load neither will other apps that require network load until I manully disconnect and reconnect. Is anyone else having a problem like this? I don't think it was like this when I firs got my phone a month ago. I'm at a loss. Any help is much appreciated. Oh I'm completely stock btw haven't rooted........(yet) lol

It has happened to me a couple times that I have noticed. I will be streaming music and walking and all of a sudden, nothing.
Even a soft reboot does not help. It will require a full reboot generally to solve the issue. I have not been able to identify the issue specifically. I suspect it might be related to LTE testing in my area.
What's the LTE status in your area?
No lte yet but as I stated earlier it happens on wifi too. It'll still show that the signal is connected but my pages want load at all after it happens and when I try to refresh it'll say that the webpage could not load because there is no network. Only until I manually shut off 3g or wifi in the settings and turn it back on will it pick up signal again but only for about 5 minutes. This has happened in various locations on 3g and wifi and will even happen at home wifi.

I've had this problem too. Sprint replaced my phone and it never happened again.
I think reactivating hands free actually fixed my problem...for now anyway. It's not losing network like it was before. All I did was enter on the phone dial pad ##72786# that'll reactivate. Hope this helps
Hi all
Seem to have a wifi or network problem.
I'm running ARHD 20.1 and have noticed lately that my wifi connection just seems to stop randomly when connected to the internet.
When I say stop I mean it still shows full signal on the wifi but just lose all network connectivity. web pages time out, play store times out, youtube times out and local connections time out. But it still shows my wifi is connected to my router and it still shows full signal.
Once it stops the only way I can reconnect is to turn wifi off and on again.
I normally have wifi turned on all the time.
Funny thing is it only seems to happen when i've been browsing for a few minutes, I can always access the internet the 1st time I try so its not disconnecting when i'm not using it
This has just started happening over the last few days and prior to this everything was fine.
I've tried reloading the Rom and Boot.img but its still doing it.
Any idea's?
Stu
Try to flash an other kernel like xm
If don't work, try to change the rom and see if that rom have this bug.
Whenever it turn on 4g it gets stuck on obtaining ip address, takes about 30 seconds, then goes straight to disconnected. I running on stock fc09. No kind of tweaks or anything of the sort. Any help on how to get past this issue?
Call Sprint. They're probably doing maintenance/upgrades in your area and that can really mess up data connections.

I called and they said there was no maintenance. I don't understand why it isn't getting past obtaining ip because my older brothers phone connects perfectly fine?
