Please Help!!!!!!!Hey this is my first thread on XDA. And im sort of a newbie on all this cell phone stuff. I was using my Galaxy note 2 Tmobile Version U.S and I took out the battery because it froze. When I turned it back on many of my apps were being force closed. So I did a factory data reset. And now its in a bootloop. For instance, it shows the Samsung Logo and then shows the Android animation and then turns off. This cycle is ongoing since this morning and I have not been able to get anywhere. Can anyone please help me. And please make it as easy to understand as possible im not good with all this technicaly terms and stuff please. It would really mean a lot to me.

How do i boot it into recovery. I tried holding the power button volume button and the home button. I tried both the top and bottom volume button. But when I do the top volume button i get nothing, it just continues into the animation. And repeats the cycle. When I do the bottom volume button it shows some odin download thing

Well the next step is to use the Note2 toolkit on your computer to go back to stock
Carbon 1.5 | Kroz Hue Brown Theme | Crack Flasher
Try this. I had a similar problem. You have to do this in sequence otherwise itll just start back to load screen and start the loop.
Make sure you have your usb cable plugged into your computer not an outlet. But not the phone yet.
1.Take battery out. Make sure phone is asleep.
2. Plug usb into phone port but dont be in any phone rooting (odin) program or Kies or anything that would try to talk to the phone without promting it.
Heres the tricky hands part.
3. Volume up. Home button. Then your power button and slip battery in at the same time. I cradled the battery in my palm just far enough away to pop it in right when I hit the power button.
Sounds crazy I know but once I got that sequence my phone popped right into recovery mode. Im a test engineer in the automotive ind. by trade so im assuming from my experience when you take the battery out the phone can truly sleep. Which for whatever reason maybe helped it do a direct power up into download mode. Hope that helps.

I could be wrong, but maybe not.
If it has been rooted i think vol up + home + pwr , and release only the pwr when logo shows should put it into recovery.
vol down + home + pwr should put it in download mode.
someone correct this if wrong

Yes you are correct. But whenever i put it into recovery nothing happens
maybe you miss the timing a bit, also happens ofetn to me.
when you have the phone of you hold down Vol+, Home and Power when the Note 2 Logo appears you hold all 3 for about half a second and the you release power and dont release vol+ and Home

No vib, no blue light... it just sits there on the samsung screen. I've tried every button combination I can think of and nothing happens. I think i may have created a paper weight. Can anyone help? Hold the power button and the volume up button. It'll reset, continue to hold, it'll boot into recovery.
You are not bricked, probably a bad flash or cable. Redo the one click and should all be fine

Just a bad flash, happened to me once. Boot back into Odin (Hold power and volume down) and redo the one click process again. Make sure nothing moves the cord or try a different one.
Hope it helps.

Your phone is not seemingly bricked.
Try the button combinations mentioned above but hold for like 20 seconds.
your NOT bricked.. just soft brick.. like suggested, calm down and hold volume down and power until it reboots into download mode again.. if its stuck at samsung logo get it to turn off by a battery pull or something and start over fresh. hard brick wont have a logo it will just be a blank screen and a solid blue led and wont do anything at all

Sometimes it can be a pain in the butt to boot into recovery or download mode. Just continue holding the button combination until it enters download mode. It might reboot and go back to the Samsung splash screen. Just hold Volume Down and Power until you are in download mode. Do not release the buttons until you have successfully entered download mode.

Any thoughts here, so far have come up with nothing. I was running odin trying to update and got interupted partially through the process. I'm able to boot the phone on, however it quickly flashes the Samsung screen then proceeds to the "Samsung Galaxy S3" screen where it hangs. I can't boot into recovery, I can't boot into download mode. All I can do is power the phone on and get stuck on this screen. It hangs there until I pull the battery. I've tried every combination possible to boot into recovery & download mode to no avail. If I plug the phone into my computer I can't get it to be recognized since its stuck on this screen. I don't think it's bricked since i'm able to power on, just stuck.
Any thoughts?
If you can still turn it on you can definitely get to download mode. Make sure you're doing the combo right..

I've seen a borked recovery but never seen a borked download mode unless the phone was bricked which isn't the case here since it still powers on. The combo is vol-down+home+power then volume up at the warning screen

That combo is not working. No matter how long/short I hold it or how long/short I wait after the battery pull it still goes straight to the GS3 Logo and hangs forever. I think its bricked. Maybe I need to try a usb jig...

Well I'm sure it's not bricked but this is the first time I've heard a jig mentioned and I don't wanna pull my hair out cuz of a stupid comment. A jig would definitely do the trick here. I assume you don't have one so a word of advice : use Ebay. And buy from someone in the states. Its more than worth the few extra bucks.
I agree that your phone is more than likely not bricked like you may think. You need to hold down the 3 key combo until the screen actually powers on and then let them go. It takes a good 5-7 seconds after the phone vibrates before the screen powers on and then let them go. It should go into download mode and if you still can't get it then sometimes having someone else try it is all it takes.... but most definetly your phone is not hard bricked if it powers on.

Here the problem:
Phone does not turn on. (No sound, nothing on the screen)
Phone does not respond to 3 button press. (No vibrate and can't get into clockwork)
Phone does not connect to usb port. (it contently connects and disconnect)
As you can see this is a BIG problem and its left me stump. Before I declare this phone as a shiny paper weight I leave my hope in you guys.
Thanks for the help

I meant the volume and power buttons. I don't think I'm in a loop because the phone give me no type of feedback. no light, sounds or vibration. When connected to power outlet there's no change. took out the battery for about an hour, no change. used a different usb cable, tried to load into Odin. Nothing.
The only thing the phone does to show that something is going on is when I plug it into my pc. At that point it shows a device has been connected but then disconnect right away. It keeps doing that as long as the phone is connected to the pc.
Also I was coming from CM 10.0.0 to aokp_d2tmo_jb-mr1_build-4

Probsbly you are trying to get in recovery mode in proper way, just to confirm, first you have to press vol low and up button, keep holding it and then press power button. few sec later it will vibrate, release power button but keep holding vol up/down. Samsung logo will come and then it'll enter in recovery mode.
Just wanted to make sure as sometime people get hard time to get screen shot by pressing keys.
I'm running P.A.C-Man v22.0.1 on twrp .
I've had no issues until today I was charging my phone then unplugged it. A few minutes later I checked my phone and it wasn't on. I pressed the power button and got no response. I pulled the battery and got the samsung logo without pressing the power button then it went to the PACman boot animation for about 1 second and turned off. I pulled the battery again and now it will show me the samsung logo then the bottom soft keys light up for not even a second and the phone turns off. I've tried getting into recovery and I'm only able to get to the TEAMWIN screen and the phone turns off . I tried switching batteries with my brothers phone and I get the same issue with his batttery. His phone boots up just fine with my battery. I'm not sure what could be causing this and I've tried searching and haven't found anything. Any help is appreciated:crying:
It sounds like you have the sticky power button issue. There are some ideas to try here:

Hi All,
I tried to flash Jedi Master 16 ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1958230 to my ATT unlocked E980 LGGP for T-Mobile. Now the phone is dead, i.e. not responding to anything. Please please help.
Rooting and installing recovering image, Optimus G Pro How to get ClockworkMod CWM and make a backup | LG Optimus Forums - Android Optimus Forums
were successful. Flashed the stock Jedi Master 16 ROM (no change to the zip) all seemed fine till the installer prompt me to reboot with successful installation message displayed. After confirming rebooting, the phone is no longer responsive. Battery is fully charged before I left it alone over night (~6hrs). Battery still had full voltage in the morning. Battery pulled/reinserted a couple times, volume down+home+power pressed many times. Phone still does not respond at all. Connected to the computer, and the computer said the device driver installation failed.
Searched everywhere and found mentioned "deep sleep" symptom. However, battery was not drained. The so called "bricked" seems to referring to looping in booting. Mine is simple not responding to anything at all with or without battery in, with or without wall charger connected, no matter what key/keys pressed.
I suspect that I should have put the right modem file into the Jedi Master 16 zip file.
Please help and thank you in advance.
I'm not even sure what to say.. Why the hell would you install a Samsung Note 2 ROM on your E980???
Can you at least get into recovery mode?
Pull battery then put back in
Hold vol-up+power+home until it passes the lg logo and goes black then release.
Are you in clockworkmod recovery?
My bad. Thought Jedi X is Note 2 specific and Jedi Master is somewhat generic.
Phone won't even boot. Screen is off, and no LED lights/sign of life anywhere with the battery trick and vol-up/down + power + home trick.
When the battery pulled and USB powered, the back and menu led flashed (white) once. Then no more sign of life no matter what key(s) + power buttons combo press.

The only forum you flash roms out of is this one and it must be for the E980. Your only hope is to try and flash back to stock
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302660
if that works and you're back on stock then root and after that you have to use FreeGee to install a loki recovery..i suggest the cwm one. just make sure to select unlock security etc
good luck

I understand what I should do after the phone boots up. Thank a lot for the resources.
However, I am stuck with how to make the phone boot. Is there a hardware reset button?
Methods tried so far:
1. Pull and reinsert battery, then press power button.
2. Pull and reinsert battery, then press (vol-up/down) + (camera shutter) + (home) + (power button).
3. Left the phone alone for 6hr (no USB charging). Battery is at full voltage (4.12v). Then following step 1 or 2.

Dude you need to simply do this. Pull battery, put battery back in, hook to computer and while plugging in the cable to your phone, hold volume up and down. If you see the 'download mode' box in the middle of the screen, YOURE SAVED, IF NOT THEN YOURE ****ED!
Never flash anything unless you know what you're doing. I seriously advise you to do a serious amount of reading before ampting any flashing if anything!

Points are well taken! I was in a rush which I definitely did not have to.
Tried the vol-up+down combo tip. No response. I guess I need to resort to some JTAG repair.
Thanks a lot.

The only forum you flash roms out of is this one and it must be for the E980. Your only hope is to try and flash back to stock
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2302660
if that works and you're back on stock then root and after that you have to use FreeGee to install a loki recovery..i suggest the cwm one. just make sure to select unlock security etc
good luck

It's volume down and power button, hold it simultaneously for about 10-15 seconds.

Methinks the former. The OP took a "parts is parts" approach to Android and made an expensive mistake.
Unbricked
My phone is finally unbricked using JTAG thanks to this man!

Everything is bright and shine except the partition table is screwed up where all apps (like camera app) see there is no space in the internal sd card. Waiting on the external micro sd card to arrive. Hopefully that will make the phone usable (beyond just browsing and installing apps).
In this stage, I can't even root it since the rooter can't write onto the internal memory space. And Android Partition Manager Pro, who requires the phone to be rooted at first, won't help either.
Does any one know how to repartition without rooting? Thanks a lot.
This whole thread.....so painful. Some people should not be allowed to have a smartphone...keyword smart
