Different I/O schedulers don't have a huge effect on the score.
What is the cause of the low I/O?
About phone:

About phone:
I'm on Mike's ARHD 7.2 *works like a charm*
CPU not overclocked.
Running on Sandisk 8GB Class4 MicroSD card
*Don't think its due to the external card though*
So I ran quadrant aswell.

It could be your I/O scheduler...? I'm on noop if that helps.
Like IceFlam21 said, i think the I/O isn't dependent on the external card. It's like internal memory.

I've tried different I/O schedulers, it seems that Deadline gives the highest score at 1314. Still very low though
My suggestion would be to take a quick nandroid of your phone, or, actually, just back up everything with titanium bkp, and then install the latest version of your ROM, R7, and see how that changes the results.
IO score seems to vary
Whats odd is that my IO score seems to vary hugely. I ran it 1st time and got 1800, then ran again and got 5760.
I seem to have problems with a low memory score
What I have is
Sabsa Prime V15 (android 4.0.4, sense 4.1) overclocked to 1.5gh.
Some of the scores are very promising
CPU 3002 (way above average but them I am overclocked)
3D 1653 (way above average)
2D 825 (more than double the average).
IO 2000-5700 depending on whats happening when I run it (? background processes slowing it down).
And oh dear
Memory 661 (way below average)
It does seem I'm short of RAM, sometimes it'll take 20 seconds to load the messaging app, other times less than 2!
Did a full wipe and installed Jelly Time 4.2 R7. Quadrant score is now 2805 :victory:

cool. doesn't explain why screen updates in some UI animations are still slower in gb... maybe overlay speed drawing or blob moving isn't checked in that testing app.
but still, very cool info and exciting to see how gb is speeding things up in many areas compared to 2.2.
sense has always had some different ways of doing things with different results across the board so I'm not surprised at vr's score.
sadly, the way that sd speeds fluctuate between tests shows that the sd speed can't be relied upon in this testing app and should be disregarded. unfortunately it also affects the total score...
I'm guessing higher values represent better performance?
Yeah, higher = better
but it's not good to set CPU OC to 710MHz....

Wow...That's Weird...i thought the cm7 is the fastest rom
may i ask you a question?do you think that the WajkIUI is the best rom for gaming and is it the fastest??i asked that since it has the best score of the 3 roms you tested
And My Test Results:
CM7 7.1.0
1Ghz CPU
Class 4 16GB SD Card
Score:
2481
EDIT: I did the test one more time right after the first one and i got 2608
and you are right...how the hell someone with 864mhz frequency got 3664 score(saw it from defy rankings in the app) and you and i got less scores?:S
Thank's your score. I bought my Defy two days ago. My previous droid was a Xperia X8. Thats why I don't know which ROM better for gaming. I hope we will got more answeres.

I have bought this tablet recently but my 256k write values are a bit slow i think...
My i/o score in antutu is also low (859) and in androbench i get 256k sequential and randon write just around 10Mb/s when the normal should be around 16-17Mb/s...the read values are normal as the 4k write ones!
I made an hard reset on recovery but the low write speed subsist!
Any ideas why this is happening?
I have a Zenfone 2 ze551ml that is getting sluggish. Many of my apps are on the external sdcard, which is a 128GB U1/class10 microSD card. I'm using link2sd for these apps.
My question is what experience people may have with using an U3 microSD card? Does U3 improve the overall speed of the phone much when many apps are linked to the external card? I do not have an U3 card to test with, so whatever data or impressions you may have is useful. Of course, the more scientific the results, the better.
I have been using busybox.top to see (via ssh login) what the phone is doing under load.
Mem: 1934648K used, 71860K free, 0K shrd, 28480K buff, 497300K cached
CPU: 40.8% usr 33.0% sys 4.5% nic 6.2% idle 10.9% io 2.0% irq 2.2% sirq
The io number is often small, but I probably does not include IO *wait* time, so I do not know how significant the number is. The "top" numbers are all over the place, from second to second, so I do not think they tell me much, but I have a strange hunch that the sdcard is one of the bottlenecks. Using 497MB of RAM as disk cache might occur whether or not the sdcard is fast. Another example of some "top" numbers, after a reboot.

As a rule, the bigger the card, the slower it is, compared to the same series cards but smaller size.
I use 32GB card Kingston microSDHC 32GB UHS-I U3 (r/w;90/80MB/s), when i just installed it around 6 months ago it showed around 100MB/s speeds.
p.s. it gets worse over time.
Bump, anyone with specific experience in a general feeling or measurement of phone speeding up when switching from U1 to U3 speed class sdcard? I know a U3 card will have better IO benchmarks, but the real the question is how much does it affect performance of the phone overall.
I can report back that I bought a Netac 128GB micro-SD UHS-I class U3 card, and I have been using it in my phone for a while.
I would say that operations that involve the external U3 card are definitely faster, although I have not run a benchmark yet (having other problems at the moment, may get back to this later). Anyway, I think the U3 card was worth paying a bit extra ($49 U3 versus $40 or so for a U1, I think).
