I've got SGH I927R with litekernel rootbox(ootBox-JB-i927-Nightly-20130223.zip + gapps-jb-20130120-i927.zip).
Many times it's frozen while boot animation. Recovery works correctly (TWR). I try to reinstall kernel, clear cache, and after 7-9 tries it boots up.
adb logcat show nothing when freezing.
Same was before with literoom and ics stock kernel/litekernel ICS.
Once it boots up, then it's stable.
Any idea?
solved, flashed with other bootloder (thanks yohan4ws), and reflash the kernel, clear caches.
had the same issue

solved freeze by change the rom to an original at&t ics rom but the phone gets locked and i can't unlock the phone so im thinking on pay for the code my phone isn't root so i doesn't have backup my EFS folder. maybe it can help to you
I have a similar problem, the phone sometimes hangs on the "SAMSUNG" logo when using the CM10.2 build. No issues with the official 4.0.4, though.
I think the phone boots fine when the charger is not connected and hangs if the charger is plugged in. I did too many things at one time (rebooting and cleaning caches from recovery and stuff), that's why I'm not entirely sure if the charger connection is related.

i dont understand why you're device is powering off in recovery/download mode. any issues with the ROM should not be affecting the recovery partition. especially once its been booted into. lemme look around

do you have enough time in recovery to wipe data/factory reset? possibly even wipe cache?
so this device was running the ROM fine, you did nothing new and this issue just sprang up?

No i found someone who had a similar problem like this guy [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1843053 ] but he doesn't really say how he fixed it or went into download mode because when i try It goes in for a few seconds then restarts vibrates and hangs in the loop
So I have a rooted HTC desire HD with Jellytime on it. All was working great till recently when it would shut down by itself. Today after I wanted to test a new boot screen from Rom toolkit I restarted it and while the boot screen worked great after it finished I see a black screen (backlit so I know its on). I tried going to the bootloader but after I try to go to wipe cache for example it restarts by itself and it gets stuck after the boot screen... Any ideas?
ok an update seems that if I go to the recovery via down button and power it lets me do actions. All this time I went to recovery mode when phone was shut down and plugged into a power source. I did a wipe cache and now it says android is upgrading and now it finished saying starting apps. Hope it didnt get stuck there because it keeps doin the cycle animation but doesn't do anything else.. I ll leave it be for a bit like this... :/ Had to restart it by removing the battery after 20 minutes... same problem as before still...
another update... just before it goes to a black screen when the boot screen finishes an orange light appears just briefly (where the green light appears when it charges)

I flashed the rom again and wiped data and all seem to be ok now. I ll update this because I saw many people have similar problems... thanks in advance for any help!
Have the same problem.
I bought this with the problem that it keeps rebooting all the time.
I unlock the bootloader with htcdev, root with Easy Ace Tool, flashed the new cyanogenmod 11,
but did the same .
At least 3-4 rebooting before open normally.
I said that it must be ROM issue and flashed the KK-LegacyCarbon-4.4.
Did the things should be...flash the ROM and then the boo.img separately.
Now i have black screen and the only screen i am able to get is bootloader and the recovery 4EXT.
I reflased cyanogenmod back but nothing happened, any thoughts???
My KF gets stuck in cyanogen boot logo when 1. KF suddenly turns off or 2. Battery becomes low. I need to reflash it just for it to work again. PLEASE HELP any idea?
Plug the device into a power source
Hold the power button for 10 seconds to shut it off
Let it charge

no, the issue is more complicated than that.
Here's a scenario, for example i'm using it still @ 60% battery, then suddenly it will shut-off, when i try to re-start it it won't boot properly, it get stuck in the cyanogen logo, it seems some file gets corrupted, the only for it to work again is to reflash. (which im getting tired off )

I see.
There was a user a while back that ended up with the eMMC bug and had to repartition his device to skip over the bad blocks. In doing so, he didn't allocate enough space for a proper cache partition (something like 150MB, I believe) and his device would do the exact same thing.
I would suggest clearing your cache and see if that helps. You may have to do a true wipe though, because I don't think a wipe in custom recovery will cut it.
You might want to check the cache, system, and boot partitions for bad blocks while you're at it.
Try other ROM

From my experinces with KF1 for two years, switch to stock ROM 4.3 AOSP from Hashcode and everything became wonderful. better battery life, no freezing
Hi, I have been running JellyTime 4.2 R11 for few weeks now on my S-OFF Desire HD.
Today, I noticed that the light was blinking and battery was low 6%, so I decided to put it into charger, and somehow when I connected it soon I accidently disconnected the charger, and when I put it back, the phone probably crashed or something, since it went black and the white screen with HTC logo appeared and it started to boot again. Now, JellyTime tries to boot, the bootanimation goes fine for sometime but then it gets stuck after "playing" the bootanimation for a while, nothing happens, even if I wait 5 minutes, it's stuck, bootanimation is frozen, no matter do I have the charger connected or not.
So, is there anything I could do, or is reflashing the only solution? I did full wipe when I flashed the ROM.
If you need more information, sure, just ask.
You could try dirty flashing, but if that doesn't work you'll have to reflash.

Thanks for the tip, but it didn't help, gets stuck still on bootanimation.
Time to full wipe and flash it again then. Wipe&FlashTime
Happened to me a few times. I suggest a battery pull before anything else. Seems stupid. But it can work in some cases

I did battery pull several times considering that the phone refused to shutdown even when holding the power button for 10 secs, so battery pull was needed every time.
Anyway, it's now running fine when I reflashed.

I have the same problem since a crash on opening the outlook-email App (JellyTime 4.2 R9).
I found, that the "data" partition causes the trouble when booting. Formating the "data" partition with "4ext recovery" fixes boot-freezing. But this is not an option for me as my last (working) backup is a couple of months ago (yes, I know - should backup more frequently...).
I was able to backup the up-to-date "data" partition (with 4ext recovery) but when restoring it (even on an fully wiped and updated system) boot sequence freezes again.
Any ideas???
Many thanks!
Solved the problem with the data-backup. Instead of restoring complete partition the APP "AppExtractor" works fine for restoring data of the partition backuped.
For now, system runs perfectly.
Conclusion:
If system hangs in Boot-Animation use Recovery for backup of up-to-date system. Full wipe system and install ROM of your choise. After that restore SMS, contacts, etc. with "AppExtractor". Apps should be installed from PlayStore as far as possible. "AppExtractor" allows restoring of app, data+app, data.
Hello, while flashing does work both from TWRP and IDON, every ROM I tried will only boot for a few seconds, then the device just restarts.
It is not a problem of the power button, because I can do anything in TWRP.
Flashing official ROM from Samsung works, but it also reboots after a few seconds. (and keeps rebooting)
This all started with a kernel panic. After that the device didn't boot anymore.
So, I flashed official ROM. This booted, but was incredibly slow.
I flashed TWRP and various ROMs, but these only started to reboot repetitive, so I thought that maybe those were incorerct.
Flashed the same official ROM (also tried older version btw) but then it just started the repetitive reboot sequence.
So, is this device broke? What can I try?

Must be something with the hardware. Maybe it is overheating and shutting down.

Hmm.. I might try to freeze it before booting (I did retrieve all data from a defective harddisk (click of death) by freezing it)
