Everytime I install a custom rom on rom manager, it has corrupted my phone and each and everytime I'd have to restore it. Is there any way to fix it? I've seen comments on the custom roms and people have commented that it works fine on the DHD.
Hi drkhrsy
Kindly explain further by your meaning of corrupt? This would allow us here to clearly understand the problems you're facing. Thanks.
Well I first installed cyanogenmod 7 and that gave me the boot loop. After restoring the phone I thought I'd try another ROM, so I went to download the TB 7.0.3 ROM and that booted up the phone but I had constant popups on HTC sense force closing and couldn't do anything else so I had to restore the phone again. So yeh, I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong here.

Did you do a full wipe before flashing those roms, multiple fcs normally indicate that you didn't try a full wipe then reflash either of your chosen roms.
Full wipe as in factory settings?
Well I've installed a new RUU after the boot loop problem, isn't that considered as a full wipe? or should I just do a wipe again now?
I had that horrible boot loop aswell after installing Rom.manager but I fixed it with a ruu
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Installing a new RUU does not constitute that you have full wipe any data and cache. As the ROM you tend to flash is, in a small or large extent, relatively different from that of RUU. That why we always advised to do a full wipe whenever we wish to flash ROMs. Else it will cause some issues such as Force Close issues.
You have to boot into recovery and select Wipe Data and Wipe Cache. That you will consider yourself that you have wipe those data and caches. Then now you can flash the desired ROM in your list.
In addition, before flashing is best to do a Nandroid back-up.
Also do check on your recovery version before you flash any ROMs as different ROMs need/may require different version in order to be flashed successfully(i.e. no or minimal issues)
Cheers mate.
aiight sweet, I'll give that a go.
Cheers!
You're most welcome.

Memory serving EVERY ROM says you MUST perform a wipe of data and cache if coming from a different ROM. This is custom ROM 101. Please read instructions thoroughly before doing things like this. The ROM devs don't spend their free time writing instructions just for the hell of it.
Regarding ROM Manager, don't you get asked if you want to wipe data and cache when you flash a new ROM (or is that not an option on the free version)?
Yeh I do get asked for wiping data and cache, I do that and it just seems to still screw up. Also backing up my files through clockwork seems to make my phone get stuck on the HTC boot up screen which requires me to reformat using the RUU file.
I would suggest re-flashing the recovery.img file.
Also, are you using the same cwm-r version to restore as used to create backup? For example, If version 2.x.x.x was used to backup you can't use 3.x.x.x to restore.

I've just checked my CWM-R version and its recovery version is at 3.0.2.6 hmm now I cant get into the recovery boot screen :S. I'd just most likely restore the phone again and try root the phone again. but thanks anyway
nvm I got in the recovery boot. Yeh the CWM-R are the same version.

I think you miss understand. I don't mean do they match wherever you look.
Did you make the original backups using version 3.0.0.x or 2.5.x.x?

Hello! I need help on my G2 that doesnt want to flash any roms at all. When i go into Rom Manager and download a rom and go install it, it finish and it boots up but it just stays on the first HTC logo. I leave it there for more then ten minutes relizing the in messed up. So i have to go back into recovery(manualy) and wipe all data and cache and then i flash the Virtuous Rom(because i downloaded it to the sdcard) and it boots up. Also when i try to flash the mods to the rom and it also fail and i have to do the same procedure again and again everytime i try to flash a rom or backup. What should i do? Oh i also have S-OFF if that helps.
have you tried manually downloading and flashing another ROM through recovery?
Also, are you doing full wipes when trying to flash the new ROMs?

No i havent tried from a diferrent recovery but i will. Also i have benn doing full wipes and cache wipes.
Not a different recovery..the same way you flashed that rom is the same way you can flash others..if you downloaded rom through rom manager you can find it in that folder which is on your sd card called clockworkmod

Not a different recovery. Just make sure that your CWM recovery is the latest version. Download a ROM of your choice from the Dev section via your computer, transfer to your SDcard, and flash manually from your phone (not using ROM manager). Do a cache/dalvik cache/full data wipe. Then flash the ROM and reboot.
ROM manager can often have issues with bad downloads that lead to bad flashes. Flashing manually can be a way to troubleshoot and take a potential bad step out of the equation.

You can download roms from dev section from your device as well.
As far as the op..what do you mean you downloaded from a youtube video and you don't trust people who past roms? If you don't trust people don't mess with it. The devs here aren't going to brick you phone..that's a mistake on your end or you not paying attention to what you were flashing

Correct me if I'm wrong but if i remember correctly it is extremely difficult to brick ones phone. The worst possible thing that could happen is if your phone some how died during a flash half way through. You can easily boot into bootloader, enter recovery and attempt to do it again.
With CWM you can mount the sd card in the mounts and storage settings so if you forgot or somehow deleted the Rom Zip from your card you can easily and safely access your card using CWM
i'm having the same issue
i have the phone rooted, s-off, and hboot installed
i'll boot into rom manager, wipe the data/cache, install the rom i want, reboot device... i get the white htc screen for about 5 seconds and then the phone restarts.
when it restarts, i get the white htc screen and then it boots into rom manager
what could be causing this? i had my previous g2 rooted and never had these issues when i was flashing roms
Installed Andromadus 4.0 beta on my wife's G2. When I got home from work my wife said that the phone had restarted and would now only boot into clockworkmod recovery v5.8.1.0. Tried factory reset and wiping the caches and reflashing. Also tried flashing CM9 unofficial but the phone just shuts off in the middle of the flash and reboots back into clockwork. Tried to flash stockmod but I get a "can't open error". Currently the phone boots into Clockwork mod, stays on for 60 secs, then reboots itself back into clockwork mod. Help please!
maybe try to reflash your recovery, boot into fastboot and try...
When you say 'tried to flash stockmod' do you mean a PC10IMG?
Cause those are made to be flashed in hboot mode, not recovery.

Well that must be why that option didn't work. I'm pretty new to all this. Have a MyTouch I rooted a couple weeks ago that works great. But I am having fits with this one, and worse, it's my wifes phone Any other suggestions?
wipe everything in recovery, then flash a superwipe.zip (also fastboot -w is good but if your new dont worry) no flash a stable rom in recovery. i suggest elite mod, its a cm7 based rom that i personally like. all files will be found in the development threads along with any instructions needed. if you have troubles ask here again but make sure you
1 wipe all
2 superwipe.zip
3 flash rom (elitemod or whatever)

I tried installing superwipe, and all sorts of different android operating systems but I cant seem to get my phone to get out of clockworkmod v5.8.1.0 and I can get to fastboot or hboot but it wont go passed the HTC screen. Every time I try installing an updated OS or a different OS or even doing the superwipe.zip it just says installation aborted and i can't get it to work! Any tips?
For future reference, don't go blindly flashing "Stock" images and such via the bootloader you tend to get yourself into more trouble that way (bricking, or making it difficult to get back to rooting).
Also if you're frequently using ICS roms I recommend using 4EXT Touch Recovery instead of ClockworkMod. A lot more useful tools in the recovery itself especially for wiping or formatting specific partitions.
When you get a chance check out which eMMC is used on that phone (click the eMMC name in my signature to see the poll thread which tells you how to check). Good for future reference if something acts up again.
Help, I will describe the following and any help I would love. I have the PRIMOC VM usa HTC ONE V.
Using Hasoon2000's All in one toolkit I have successfully Unlocked my phone, flashed TWRP recover 2.4.4, got root, and made a backup.
I then continue on to wipe cache and system and Factory reset to prepare to install ANY ROM. When I try to install the rom every time it just says Error in /sdcard/...[wherever rom is] (Status 1) FAILED
So then I proceed to restore my backup (this is why you always make a backup) and that works fine
Does the "(Status 1)" mean anything important?
I thought this was happening because I was running the newer radio so I used the RUU tool and now am using the good radio (not 0928) But this did not fix anything. This same thing happens over again. I have checked to make sure and I do have full root privileges.
I then tried to flash boot.img first and jmz kernel flashed successfully, but no rom will flash.
Why will NO ROM install?
I feel like I am missing something obvious but can't figure it out.
Also, whenever I do the factory restore it goes through all the process then fails when trying to wipe sd:ext , but my card is not partitioned. <I didn't know if that would be any help>
I am not a complete newb at all of this (running lg optimus for years- just new to the htc methods)
NEED Help please...
Can anyone help me out with this?
I have not made any progress since yesterday. I am successful at flashing kernels, I have flashed the boot.img of the sic kernel, but on both kernels I have no WiFi with the stock ROM.
So I either need to find the stock boot.img or have help flashing a ROM that fails everytime.
When every instruction says "Extract ROM" that is only to pull out the boot.img right, we don't flash an extracted package you flash exactly what you downloaded right?

Hi Obeezy562,
my advice is to use the recovery program CMW or TWRP to re-format your external SD card. Then follow the normal instrutions and install the rom from zip using your recovery program. If you still have the same issue just let me know and I'll ponder longer.

Ok, so tonight I will reformat my sdcard with TWRP then try to install the ROM. I tried the CWM recovery, but it was not touch based and did not respond to the power button as the OK, only the volume rocker worked.
I will try CWM recovery if someone can provide a link to the latest one, perhaps I was using an old one.
Twrp 2.4.4 I've also had issues with flashing some roms then downgraded to Twrp 2.2.0 and everything has been well since

Hi guys,
I have a wildfire with hboot-6.01.1002 S-off and radio 3.35.20.10.
I had the gps bug, so I tried all the ways to fix it but without success. So I tried to reflash radio and just trying to flash older versions I found out that the radio doesn't get flashed.
I tried laptop method too but with win8 is impossible for my wildfire to get recognized and all the tricks seen on internet or on this forum don't work.
Ooops I forgot to say that from RomManager I downgrade to cwm 2.x, then I reboot the phone, but in recovery I see again cwm 5.x, so everytime I install from there the 2.x version and I flash radio, but at system reboot I find 3.35.20.10 radio again.
Could you help me pls?
ps. sorry for my bad english.

You can try to use a temporary 2.x flashable cwm zip file and flash it after a cwm recovery reboot: I have cwm 6 installed and reflashing the radio in this way I usually fix GPS and WiFi problems (I have to do it once or twice every time after I install a new ROM).

Hi, could you explain me the procedure?
Where do I find a temporary cwm?
--- do you mean install a cwm 2.x in recovery mode? It doesn't work, I wrote it in the first post too.
mate, you don't have to flash a new radio to fix the GPS issue.
Here's what I do,
#Turn GPS on in your current ROM, and wait for a stable location fix,
#while GPS is still on, power off the phone.
#Now boot into recovery and flash your new ROM
#now after flashing and booting into your new ROM you'll be able to use GPS again.
You'll have to do this everytime you flash a new gingerbread ROM or above..
if your current ROM doesn't have working GPS, just flash Sense ROM, the GPS will work. then do as I said.
I always though flashing radio's are a little risky, as this is a risk free method, I think everyone should use this instead..
cheers ...

Every time I try a sense rom at installing point I lose screen, just some colored strips, do you remember 80 cabinet game before loading? if yes ... those ones
But that's really strange that i'm not able to flash radio anyway.

I'm guessing you're referring to RemPuzzle ROM which has Aroma installer.
yea Aroma installer does that on cwm5.
only way to fix that is to revert to CWM4 permanent ( untill you decide to go back to a higher cwm version.)
anyway try another sense ROM, like DK's custom ROM or similar ..
cheers..
I was just reading about DK roms, it has to be installed using a temporary cwm.
Just a curiosity: all newer roms are cyano based?

Yes, most gingerbread and up roms are usually bases on CM.
About the temporary cwm. Just flash it as a normal zip and you'd get temporary cwm2.5 , flash DK with that, after reboot you'll be back on your current cwm version.

I ask that cause before I use Mtd partition procedure to have more free space, and without any format and wipe I can't do that.

Ehm .. dkmod roms failed to install cause "installation aborted", 4.6.2 and 4.7.
I tried joyOs but gps doesn't start. With Rempuzzle I have screen problems.
It seems I have to forget gps.
Flashing a radio requires at least 30mb on cache, so make sure you aren't using a custom mtd setup.
If its not the case, try flashing a 2.x permanent recovery and then flash the radio.

If you have followed all the steps.correctly for custom mtd partitioning, it should work.
If it still fails, try link2sd, its an app. It moves apps to a separate partion in SDcard and saves internal storage.
But you have to partion your SDcard for that.
I suggest you should recheck if you followed all the steps correctly for mtd partioning. And remember to flash the bravo-boot.zip ( I don't remember the exact name) after flashing a ROM..
