One of my friends installed the ics leak when it came out, but the leak has a lot of software glitches. He wants to go from his atnt leak to official ics then root. How would he do so? He is running the 18f I think, Android 4.0.3.

Just flash one of the rooted stock ROMs, or better yet flash Liquid Nitro which is essentially a nicely debloated AT&T ICS ROM with performance features and tweaks added.
HO!NO! posted his debloated v20f, which is the latest (and probably final) official ICS update. I'm going to try it out next. You'll need to manually add your ATT APN if you use it though, because it is a Bell ROM... so make sure you copy down the APN settings before you flash!

Won't work until you go through the unbricking process first:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2044645
It takes you from the leaked ICS. But if you want to be 100% stock no root just stock use the LG support tool found at the above thread.

Well, that's not really a decision we can make for you, haha. Just know that if you flash the official update, even though you can root, you won't be able to install CWM again. If you want to go back to CWM, you'll have to use unbricking method to revert to Gingerbread.
You might consider just flashing the Telus or Bell ICS flashable version that HO!NO! released instead.

New E4GT user here. I'm rooted and on EL29, what is the latest build or baseband number and how do you update to it?
I want to update to Jelly Bean, but I understanding that with this phone, you can't just flash any ROM you want, correct? It has to "match" your build or baseband number?

Latest "Official" OTA Thread by RWilco - No root and rooted links.
Latest stock Leak thread by RWilco Best stock leak imo..
As far as JB builds go, my only suggestion is to read each thread of the rom that interests you in it's entirety. Mixed reviews and different issues, different ways of flashing.. etc..
baseband = modem - mix and match to find the best performance for you and your phone. You can run a ICS generation modem on a GB build, and vice versa.
Check out the op in the Modem Repository by RWilco. How to flash and all the links provieded there.
Build and kernel match (usually) based on the rom. Just follow the Op's instructions on the rom thread. read for any issues etc.
Thanks for the great info!
So, when I flash a new ROM, does it comes with a matching kernel and baseband? I'm still a bit confusing about that.
Most or all Roms come with kernel, some, if you use Odin will include modem. I usually double check and flash the modem that I want via cwm...

Depending on the dev of the rom.
Yes, most include a kernel in a custom rom since it is the easiest way to keep what they build to an error free environment.
You may find a custom "rom only" but that is rare.
Stock roms (vendor leaked or "official" ) you will find complete sets in one clicks and tars. Then, usually, you will find it in separate pieces in the reference section. In Rwilcos posts, they are found in post 2.
With your goal of going to JB, you dont have to go to the latest stock.
You can go to a custom recovery, like el26 cwm or a safe Agat recovery, and try out a JB build. There are several good ones in the dev section.

I'm on PA2.1 and its definitely daily driver worthy idk what JB roms you've seen that aren't. Everything I'm PA works like it should and its based off of sbrissens aosp and phantomphreaks cm10 vendor trees. Which would make both of those roms just as stable if not more so than PA, and aokp JB is based off the same vendor trees so it should be just as good.

Remember to just keep it simple, "New E4GT user here" you should sample some ics and see how that works for you and understand how to go back to your "original state"before you go into jb territory being that ics thought not perfect yet has more stability than jb at the present. Like Mo said read and reread before you take the plunge.

I've been using PhantonPfreek's CM10 ROM for a week now. While not perfect yet, it is a Daily Driver. Most of the major bugs have been handled. currently Bluetooth and headset volune is a problem. This ROM is very close to becoming an official CM rom according to Phantom. i came over from AOKP Mil6. This ROM is its equal. Of course JB features added icing to the cake. I'd say have at it. just make sure that you are on a safe kernal to flash from.
hi everybody
i want a Recommendation for good kernel for stock ICS rom.something that will save battery,i like the stock rom i tried some others, but rturned to the stock, but the battery is so bad at the night i lose 10-15%. need help....
someone....
If somebody can give me a link to update the official version of the AT & T rom JB, Because I do not get the update could be because I use the device outside the United States my device is the AT & T

Ktoonsez KT747 will work on TW ICS. I'm using it on AOKP 4.2.1 and it is stellar. You can find it in the original android development section.
what's the different between TW and ICS because there is 2 kernels over there one for TW and one for ICS?
THANKS
TW is if your on stock and still use touchwiz. ICS is if you're rooted and on an AOSP based ROM such as CM or AOKP.
And if i'm stock ics rooted?

Then use the TW version. If you are to flash a new ROM, you'll need to re flash the kernel. Additionally, if you flash an AOSP ROM, be sure to flash the AOSP variant.

Have you updated from fk23 to gb27? I'm still using fk23 "rooted", and was thinking of updating it to gb27... I have the Samsung simple upgrade tool, because I can't use kies to update it... If you updated using the same method, did everything work out ok?... I'm not sure if this will harm my phone...

Back then when my device was running ICS, I updated my device to jelly bean 4.1.2 using the Samsung simple upgrade tool. It worked perfectly. Had no issues during the process. Afterwards, you simply root your device if you want, and you are good to go. Definitely recommend updating to the latest version GB27.

All I've seen are jellybean and ics roms that I really don't want. I want service on my phone but don't want jellybean/ics because of it's performance compared to gb. Any good r800x gaming roms?
To answer your question. I have tried several roms both on the Verizon model and my current GSM model. Stock debliated with no v6 supercharger or scripts gains you the best performance. Especially on Verizon's as it was stock based firmware. I believe I still have my old nandroid backup laying around. Stock debloated 2.3.3. Do not get 2.3.4. VZ broke the Google sync and it was never fixed
Because 99% of the devs didn't have an r800x. And as Sony only released ICS as a beta for GSM it was never successfully ported to Verizon's model.
I owned an R800x before getting a GSM model.

Edit - This should be a stock debloated 2.3.3 for VZ with root.

It's a nandroid backup. Put it on your phone and boot into cwm and restore it like its a back up. You have to be on 2.3.3 first.
