There's a certain part of the screen where my s pen doesn't work. . But everything dous work with my fingers so it must be the s pen. With the wacom test I get the same results.
Any ideas? Thinking about going to the store and get a new s pen..

The digitizer is broken. Take it to Samsung store or get it repaired from a technician

If the digitozer was broken it wouldnt work properly with my fingers. Only the s pen is giving this problem

It might be broken in some places and not as a whole, it's better to get it checked.

No digitier has nothing to do with touch detection.
Digitizer for s pen is broken. There are 2 different units. One for s pen detection and another for touch detection.

Are you using a magnetic cover... Then remove it and check.. It should be fine.... Magnetic cover causes issues with s pen
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2

Then im going to send it back I guess... I did root though, with odin, without flashing a custom recovery. Should I unroot? Using the note 2 without any accessories.

Extra info: samsung official firnware and everything, it only says 1 binary update or something
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app

As vishal said, do you have anything magnetic around that part of the phone? Magnets mess with the phone's detection of the s-pen.
EDIT: Just noticed you said you're using it without any accessories above. Have you tried using a different s-pen, or your s-pen on a different phone?

Havent tried it but found a video on YouTube where it shows this problem. Still have warranty so I'm going to send it back. Thanks for the help, too bad my phone doesn't work properly. ..
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app

Try to knock the s pen on a flat surface..just lightly though..had issues like that before..after a couple of taps..works fine.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app

You had the same exact problem?
Edit: tried without success....
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app

I have something relatively similar problem.... if I draw (horizontal) lines in S note with just a small pressure, when i get near the right side of the screen there is a small area (4-8mm wide) where it won't write. With some more pressure it will write. It is something with the digitieser ? PS No magnetic cases where used but it has fallen from around 1.5m hight.

I tried using some extra pressure, no luck.. any other suggestions before i get it to repair? Its such a little problem of this lovely device, hate the fact that it dousnt function properly...
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app

Do you use a magnetic case or screen protector?
Sent from my GT-N7105 using Tapatalk 2

Okay here's what I'd do.
First put the s-pen between two study coasters and then slam it firmly onto a hard surface. Using about a third of the pressure you reckon might crush it.
Second look for a guide on how to remove the s pen button cover and adjust the sensors to see if it helps
Third. Unroot, clear the flash counter and update the firmware OTA if available (just because that's what any good customers service advisor or engineer would do/ask first). You said you rooted through Odin, I did not know you could use Odin to do that, so I'll stick to what I know. I would flash a stock firmware from your country and network, preferably the one it shipped with. Use the latest Triangle Away to remove the flash counter and return unmodified status. Perform and check for an update, return to the store.
Best of luck.

My s pen was weird, inconsistently over and under sensitive. I gave it a wack and it's been perfect for months.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app

Thanks, ill try tomorrow! How do i unroot btw? Im still on the official build, only root access. the only thing different i see in download mode is my flash counter.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app

Sorry bud you'll have to look around. I always flash rooted ROMs. I'll never need to unroot. Good luck though

Had the same problem, ended up with the phone not charging at all, and a strange smell of burned chips while plugged... Now the phone works, but it doesn't charge at all, luckily I've 3 batteries and a wall charger, so I charge it in that way, but it's still a problem.
I'll suggest to do not force to charge it, probably some connectors are messed up. Leave it discharge, take the battery apart and leave it stay for a couple of hours, then try to see if the problem is solved. If not, clean the connector, and try to put the phone without battery and back cover in a dish with some rice, it will eventually absorb humidity. If even this doesn't work, RMA or something more aggressive like open the phone, search for disconnected cables, reconnect them and/or replace microUSB connector...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
That is usually due to dirty connectors. Happens all the time when you don't use the plug on your phone because you battery swap or something. Remove battery for 1minute and use a toothbrush dampened in alcohol, try to scrub those pins, usually works within the first go.
The usb port is pretty easy to replace on your own..
Does it says charging at lockscreen with 99%?
If yes its normal. Unplug the charger, wait 10 secs and plug again. Now it shoulg go to 100%

I'm running ARHD 3.0 at the moment, and i just checked this.. No problem with any part of the screen.
So either your ROM (if you have a custom ROM) has somehow managed to mess with it, or (the more likely case), you have a defective device.
I guess it is a faulty piece after all. Coz I have the stock rom. Wil go to the service center ASAP.. thanx for all the help guys

You have an S-pen that's a bit too insensitive. I had the exact same problem and believe me, pressing harder is no solution: it just frustrates you more...
You can try and swap it for a better pen, but it can be cured too: just search for the "S pen too sensitive" (yes, that happens also) threads here for the graphic description to adjust the sensitivity settings below the button in the pen. A little bit of careful tweaking with a very small screwdriver is all you need.
My S pen is perfect now

I have the same problem. They replaced the device or just the s-pen? I'm not going to wait months for a device assistance just for this little problem
Btw, i have this kind of problem ONLY when using writing recognition. An area of about 0,5 cm at the right side of the screen just seems less sensitive. But it's ok when drawing, so it seems a software problem to me

S-Note

Whoever says the S-pen isn't practical, or that they don't use it is crazy..I use it constantly. Here is an example...

SPen command gestures.

I absolutely love my SPen and would really be lost without it. But for those of you who are not following the other thread about this subject it has been learned that there are some gestures you can do while holding down the SPen button. So while holding down the button and drawing a line up the left side it will bring up a search command prompt to search within the app you are currently using. Also if you hold it down and draw a ^ it will bring up the Menu. And if you draw a < it will go back just like the back button. Some of you may have already known this but I didn't and thought I would let everyone know what has been found. All credit for this find goes to budde2 because he is the one who told me about this.

Or off you don't feel like making your own this app is actually pretty effin sweet ...I use the one made for touch not the spen but it definitely gives you alot more features than using the native quick commands option too...not sure off there's a lite version for this but there is one for the touch version.

Red light... IR or Proximity Sensor?

I have an AT&T Galaxy S3, the I747, which is currently running the 5/10 build of PAC-Man, the 5/9 build of the KT747 kernel, and task650's 5/8 gapps. I dropped it about a month and a half ago, shattered the screen, and had to replace it. A quirk to this is that I had to replace it with a screen from a Sprint Galaxy S3, the L710. After I replaced the screen, on Friday, I flashed to the stuff I'm running right now. Yesterday (Sunday), I noticed that the sensor directly to the right of the front-facing speaker is lit up with a very faint red color at all times while my phone is on. I have done a little searching, and from what I can find, everyone is attributing this to Viber, which I don't use.
It's this one:

My proximity sensor and light sensor are working fine still, but my main concerns are battery life and longevity. Is this light being on going to either hurt my sensor in the long run or create unnecessary drain on my battery, and if either is the case, what do I do about it?
I noticed mine was on one day while i was in bed, just rebooted and haven't had it since. I don't see why it would need to read data from the proximity sensor unless your on a call or so it shouldn't drain battery . if your in the SMS app then it might be using it for direct dial but I'm not sure if you have that feature in pacman

Try a program called greenify. It will tell you which programs are causing wake locks and what is using the most battery.
Hi, I used to have Viber installed, until I noticed that dot I didn't relate it. It made me panic so I went through my apps 1 by 1 and found viber to be the one keeping it always on even when its not running. If you don't have Viber, go to your installed apps page, go to downloaded tab and force close each one. If the red dot is persistent then its another app. Keep going until its gone and you'll find the culprit.
Have a good day.
