Hi,
Im coming from iOS and im considering an android, and the htc one x was/is one of the equipments in consideration but i have some questions about it, especially now after the htc one announcement. So i would like to get the feedback from users here to help me decide
I really liked the htc one, the features, the design, etc but i was wondering if its worth the extra money, wait and get it or just get a htc one x for cheaper? The OneX would be the quad-core version.
Also, i have some questions about google now and the voice assistant. Does it work well on the htc one x? From what i have read, there is already jelly bean for HOX so google now should work(right?).
Can the voice assistant from google now read and reply to text's by voice? Especially when its connected to a cars bluetooth kit and a text arrives, it would be very useful to have the option to read it automatically and reply to it - thats something that i always thought was very useful on siri.
Thanks!
Edit: I placed this on this "section" of the forum because it seemed like the right sub-forum since it was questions about the device, but now i was looking at the "general" sub-forum and now im not sure if it really belongs here or not. So mods, im sorry if this thread doesn't belong in this sub-forum and of course, feel free to move it, Thanks
AW: [Q] Htc One X vs Htc One & Google Now
Hello,
Google Now isn't as you expected a voice assistant like siri.
Its main funktions are a voice search that includes all Google features like YouTube gmaps etc.
The secound feature is that you can use different "cards" which show you personalised content like traffic from your home to work or weather or concerts alround you.
There are many possibility.
The voice based assistant can be found in other android apps, including the reading of sms.

Wonder how they came up with the idea to design this one
It had already been dubbed the "Desire Mini" by some.
See here.
Regards,
Dave
It rhymes too
The Wildfire actually has some interesting new features, like:
HTC Caller ID that shows the caller’s Facebook status and a birthday reminder
App Sharing that lets you recommend apps straight from your phone
these are only soft mods, so I think we will see them in our desire as well soon.
I think its a pretty good idea for those people who dont wanna jump to the daddy of smart fones and wanna start out simple and small.
It looks like a perfect introuction to a smartfones.

This must be just business bullcrap. It's running 2.1, how would it have full flash?
It's daddy is a Desire and it's mummy a Nexus
I was thinking about this at work tonight. I don't know how well received this topic with be either. The purpose of this topic is to consolidate questions from users that are looking for an app that fits their need with suggestions from other people. I know that one person could not possibly know all the apps and games out there. Maybe you could suggest something you have seen, used, or are using now with fellow users that can't seem to find an app that does what they want to accomplish. This does not mean that if someone suggests something, that they have to teach someone how to use the program too (unless they don't mind helping them get set up or warning them about possible snafus). Sometimes there are apps that aren't in the market but on a website somewhere, and are great to have. For example, Music Junk, is a good prog to dl music (cough, cough). Google music junk android and I'm sure you will find the dev's site.
Anyways, I don't know how well of an idea this is but at least it's an attempt to help others out. I will be watching this thread as long as it stays on the first page or two of this section.
There was an app called paul's app of the day, lots of people use it, paul must be a popular guy.. idk.. looks like he's from Madaco forums.. but it did have some apps that we all know already.. but one or two that I never thought to check out. i did remove it after a week or so.. don't like to have too many apps if I don't use them.
AppBrain will suggest stuff based off what you have installed and what other users have installed in comparison to you. If I have x, Y, and Z and you have X and Y it will suggest Z.
FWIW - Paul O'Brien is the founder of MODACO...I follow him on twitter - he's like a Cyanogen in the UK. was big into G1 dev, I think he supports several devices, and did support the Hero when we first started getting roms on it.
When I get to my daily visit to the XDA forum, to leech and see what the latest developments are, I always click the "FORUMS" menu item. This gives me a list with all the available forums, complete with an image of the phones associated with them. Or it gives me a list with phone images and the forums associated with them.. who cares
What I do is, scroll down as fast as I can and try to spot the phone that I'm really interested in, the Desire Z. The only problem is, what my eyes are looking (scanning) for is a phone with a keyboard. And here's the thing, the image used for the Desire Z forum... doesn't show the keyboard!!! Which to me is kinda silly, since the main thing for the phone is the keyboard. And I believe most other phones that have a keyboard, show the keyboard in the image. So I feel left out.
So my kind request to you moderator types is: "Could we, Desire Z users (or maybe it's just me), get an image that shows the keyboard for the forum?"
I mean, the fact that most of us find out that we don't use the keyboard as much as we had expected, doesn't mean it's not there! Keyboards have rights too you know!
Anyway, thanks.
Hi i am keen on desire z. How is the hw keyboard? My fingers tend to be too thick for small km.

I'm really happy with it actually. The keyboard is nice, they left enough room between the keys even for larger fingers. But if you have thumbs the size of sausages it's going to be tough on any hw keyboard I guess. My thumbs aren't that big and I was used to using the Xperia X1 keyboard, so this is a great improvement
The only problem I have is the fact that I don't use it as often as I thought I would. The onscreen keyboard is great, so I find myself using that a lot more for quick messages than the hw keyboard.
I guess for smartphones the hw keyboard really is dying.... It's sad... Even Blackberry has a touch-screen/keyboard combo device nowadays
Or... at the top right, just type "Z" in "find your device", and pick it there?
If thats the particular forum you jump to first of all then why not set some kind of bookmark/quicklink in your browser......
And as Pulser said, top right corner.... find any device in seconds.
I cant remember the last time I had to scroll through that list.

THis is exactly what I do, I have three links on my book marks bar on Chrome, one to take me straight to desire z forum, one to the general android section and another to the front page.

I know, you are all right. And I do have a bookmark and I do know how to use the search or the CTRL+F keys. Still, isn't it a little strange that every picture in the list has the keyboard out when it has one, except for the Desire Z.
You do know I'm being a little sarcastic in my first post right?
Hi all.
I've bought HTC ONE X a couple of weeks ago and have been playing PES 2012 and Temole Run a lot. Today I decided to install GTAIII. I went to google play and it said DEVICE NOT COMPATIBLE.
I manually downloaded the apk and sd data and put them in the right directory. Open the game and it said, "Unfortunately, GTAIII has stopped."
I've seen videos on youtube regarding this and the game works fine on HOX.
Can someone elaborate what this actually is about? Can I get a torrent or direct download link from anyone of you that will lead me to download the working version of GTAIII on my One X?
Regards

356 posts, i would of thought youd know the answer to this question on here.. I suggest you look for "alternative" forums to ask this question.
try the google market place on a pc see if that allows you to "purchase" the original version.
Search button
Try this picture (yes you can klick on it with your mouse) instead of opening a new thread, it's called the search button and you can find it on top right corner
of XDA Developers.
Amazing isn't it how much of these threads already exist, that's board clutter and very anoying for people who are searching for something relevant.
That's why >> FORUM RULES (yes you can klick on this link too) exist which you can find on top of this HTC One X General section.
Once again, talking about warez is not tolerated on XDA

I am running cm12.1 on my HTC one m8, but have come into contact with a bug having to do with voice search on Google now. On the Google now launcher, the microphone on the search bar is hollow even when I have voice search enabled. Now, I've read many people's issues pertaining to this, but not a single solution has been effective, or have relation to my issue.
My assumption to the cause of this would be the actual app bugging out because of the similar recent reviews of the Google app on the play store, but I'd like you guys' opinion.
If anyone wants to have me redirect this, sure. I just thought this forum was most suited.
Reverted to an older version, and it functions. The question still stands though because it baffles me.
I'm pretty sure that is the way its supposed to look. That is how mine looks. I have voice search enable but not on every screen just like you.
