Cannot Mount SD Card in CWM - HTC One X

Hello, Ive been having many problems with my HTC One X for a few days now, Right now I've managed to get fastboot working again as it wouldn't show up before. Right now the problem is that there isn't a ROM installed on my phone and for some reason CWM won't mount the SD card so I can't format it or even open it through USB. Is there any fix for this?
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks, Andy

Thankyou so much! I've managed to get it mounted on the computer now, what format does it need to be so CWM can mount it?

I can now mount my SD card onto the computer and format it/put files on it. However I have tried formatting the card to NTFS, FAT32 and FAT. When I go back into CWM and try and format/mount the SD card it still says:
"Formatting /sdcard...
Error mounting /sdcard!
Skipping format...
Done."
Does anyone know what format it needs to be, or what the problem is?
Thanks, Andy

I think the original formatting is VFAT, so try that.
You could also try TWRP instead of CWM and see if it formats correctly.
Sent from my One X using xda premium

I always format it as fat32. Even from windows. Never had trouble. Did you do a bad sector scan ?

Thankyou for your replies.
What can I use to format it to VFAT? I'm installing TWRP now to try. What program should I use for bad sector scan?
Thanks, Andy

In TWRP, go to settings, untick 'use rm -rf instead of formatting'
Then wipe > external storage.

Managed to get it formatted with TWRP and put my ROMs folder onto the sdcard. Thanks so much!
Although now I'm back to the original problem, no ROM will install! the installation goes through as if it has worked and then I just end up stuck at the "HTC Quietly Brilliant" screen. Any ideas on what can cause this?
Thanks, Andy

I forgot that step, I have now flashed boot.img now and reinstalled the ROM, still stuck at the "HTC Quietly Brilliant" screen. Also there's one other thing I've been trying to find an answer for, my hboot is 0.43 and I've searched everywhere for instructions on how to update it but I can only seem to find how to do it for versions above 0.43. Do you know how I can do this? Could this be causing the problem I'm having?
Thanks, Andy

It depends on the ROM. What are you trying to install?
The update procedure should be the same for 0.43, you only have to update step by step, first to 2.17 base hboot and then JB hboot.
What is your CID? Do fastboot oem readcid.

I'm currently trying to flash Nocturnal_MergeX_RC1d. Although if you could suggest a better one for me to use that would be great. My CID is H3G__001.

You can update to hboot 1.39 with a simple firmware flash. Use this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1927048
And for the ROM, ViperX is perfect:

[Q] Unable to mount sd card

After I tried to flash the Flyer port (bootloop) I could not mount my sd card. So I could not flash another rom, even trough fastboot.
I've tried different SD cards and it is certainly the phone.
I tried to flash another hboot (CM7 instead of stock hboot) but this didn't help.
Afterwards I flashed another recovery through fastboot (I think it was cwm 2.5 Instead of cwm 3.0.2.4) with no result.
Then I tried to flash a nandroid backup through fastboot but he said the system file was too big (250mb), luckily I had a smaller system (oxygen, without sense 2.3.3 80-90MB) and it worked well.
Now I can, at least, boot my phone normally, but for example the music player said there is no SD card.
The last thing I tried was flashing a RUU rom: RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.1_Radio_32.30.00.28U _4.05.00.11_release_121684.exe (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695667)
The strange thing is that windows says the battery is below 30%, even when my phone is fully charged. No idea why.
Does anyone have an idea what else I can do?
Thanks,
Stienoo

About SD card, I always had the same problem. But is there a message in notification bar ? As "Sd Card corrupted" or "read only" ? If so, you will have to format it with à PC and restore data with the PC. To prevent it, don't turn off your phone in à bad way. And unmount SD card in recovery before reboot.
Sorry for you.

Desire Z hboot install only with your phone

I have been following closely the G2 rom development threads and up to now everything has gone well.
If you want to install Virtous new roms you must install the new PC101.img first.
As didnt want to setup a ADB enabled PC again, I just followed these steps.
1-Ensure you already have a 4 way reboot rom (Recovery, hot restart, restart, and bootloader).
2-Download the new PC101.img to the root dir of your minisd card. Be prepared with a PC and minisd card reader. Or prepare another sdcard with any rom.
3-Reboot phone into bootloader. Be sure the PC101,img is on the minisd installed on your phone.
4-You will be in the bootload-reset-etc menu (the white menu). Select bootload.
This will flash your phone with the new PC101.img. You will see a small vertical line filling up as it flashes.
5-When finished, it will prompt you to reboot your phone. Do so.
6-You will see the green HTC logo, just let it there for 3 minutes and dont panic, you still have to install a rom. Pull battery.
7-Now swap the minisdcard with the card that contains the rom (Unity works great). Install battery and push the on button while pressing volume down to go to Clockwork recovery mode.
8-Install rom. No need to wipe as the new PC101.img formatted the internal 4Gb ram.
Thats it, hope it works.Worked for me.
I thought the file had to be pc10img.zip?

I would chance to say that it has to be renamed to capital letters, as in runs in a 'nix environment.

If you are using a nandroid backup you have to flash the stock boot.IMG in fast boot. If it can't find the device try a different usb port

Let me guess; you don't have the latest clockworkmod?

Expertise needed!

Guys I've done a bit of a job on my phone...
I was happily using CM9, clockworkmod for backup which was great when I wanted to try another mod and revert back.
Then I decided I'd like to try CM10. Installed it and got the ring loading graphic but got no further. So booted into recovery and reverted back to backup. That didn't last long. 'The kernel' I though. Maybe I should update the kernel?
So I decided to install the BRicked kernel.
Sadly, CM10 still wouldn't work and had the side-effect of stopping me getting into recovery. No problem, I plugged the phone in to my PC, went to fastboot and flashed 5.8.4.0 through the One X One Click v1.8B which did the job.
However now, I can't find my backups in recovery - when I select Restore it tells me "Couldn't open directory" and "No files found".
And I can't flash CM9 again because when I "choose zip from SD card" there are no files found there either. Or folders (and there used to be a LOT).
So I've gone back to Fastboot and One Click and tried to flash CM10 and CM9 again but each time it fails with
Code:
"Can not find [android-info.txt] in zipped image!
FAILED (remote: 24 parsing android-info fail)
So I'm rather boned at the moment.
Booting the phone gets it stuck on the CM10 loading screen.
Recovery won't let me access or recover any files on my SD card (unless they have wiped somehow).
One Click won't flash a zip.
I'd really appreciate the help of someone a little more knowledgeable please to get ANY working OS on there!
I had a similar problem trying Arhd eb3 kernel on Arhd 9.7 and it wouldnt let me use my sd card or use 1.8 one-click I just factory resset and left it of for a min and it worked

Phone stuck in bootlooop!

I installed ParanoidRom and everything was going fine till my phone did not start and went into bootloop.I'm really worried,i don't know what to do.
I've gone into recovery and wiped everything from cache to sd card but nothing seems to help.I have tried re-flashing boot.img and recovery.zip files but nothing works.I tried downloading stock RUU for my device but could not find the right one.
I want to flash another custom ROM but i don't know how to do it without access to SD card.SD card does not show up in my computer. It shows up only if i start my phone and change from "charge only" to "disk drive" but since i can't boot into my phone that option is closed. Is there any way to install the ROM from the zip file on my computer?
I have tried extracting the contents of the ROM zip file to the fastboot folder and flashing the boot.img but it gives a BootMagic check fail error.
Is my phone bricked,is there any hope,i can't lose my phone.

Why are you still trying with that rom?
Custom roms are sometimes bad, its happened to me 2 times one after the other....theyre just too buggy to work.
also putting stuff on microsd card from phone is kinda....stupid. just use the microsd card adapter for pcs they always hand out one along with the micro.
Download ANOTHER custom rom (there are many better ones than paranoid...foxhound or rootbox are good. Not cyanogen they still need to make a complete version for s3).
And FACTORY RESET/FORMAT EVERYTHING and then flash from rom package. Why bother flashing boot image?

---------- Post added at 07:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:39 PM ----------
Plus theres no reason to be worried if ur phone is stuck in bootloop. Bootloop saves phones not kills them. If it can't run the os (custom rom)....well it just can't. Take off the battery and re insert, at least it wont run out of battery life.
Then when uve got everything ready along with rom on sd card just boot in recovery mode and do what i told you earlier. If sdcard is a problem i remember there was an option in clockwork to have the rom pushed to the phone from the pc just like what happens when u root with odin...

I'm using the boot image found in the zip file of PAC ROM.When i flash this boot image it first sends boot but there's and error when it tries to write boot.
I was using the command fastboot flash boot boot.img but that was giving an error so i tried using another command, fasboot flash system boot.img and there was no error this time.So i typed the command fastboot reboot and went into recovery to open CWM recovery and chose install zip from sd card,i chose the zip file but it gave an error and did not install.I don't know what to do.Looks lik my phone is done.

Are you going mad? What the hell is pac rom? Are you fixated with paranoid android? All they have are.dropdown windows like tablets...not really very useful. Get a MORE popular rom, and more stable. Try aokp.
And dont flash just the bootimage. Flash it ALL. Reset everythung to factory and install FULL rom...at this point its obvious.the problem of the paranoid rom doesnt rely in bootimage...maybe its kernel.
So:
Intstall new rom + new kernel(just to be sure its not kernel problem).

"Good sir, would it not be wiser to stop flashing bits of roms and instead flash all of it through cwm?
It does, in fact, seem to me that your downloaded rom/roms appear to be broken or somewhat buggy, perhaps flashing some evem MORE popular roms that the already very popular pac rom would fix the problem, thus liberating all of us from the madness you cell-phone is causing and making it's user happy once more"
