stock browser back button doesnt always work - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Some sites (xda being one of them) just reloads the web page when I hit back unless I hit it like 2-4 times really quick. I think this has happened to me since gingerbread... Its kind of annoying, is there a fix for this?

please help - TP2 driving me nuts

I have the tmobile TP2 for two days and I have two major issues.
1. I can't scroll smoothly for the life of me. Flicking in the all people menu goes way far and slow scrolling seems impossible without turning into a tap. Same thing in the slide bar and pretty much any situation that involves gestures. The touch screen response seems exagerated/extremely sensitive for most of the time and other times lags or requires several taps. I calibrated the screen but don't see much improvement. Does anybody else have the same problem / is it the hardware or just a matter of learning curve on a very "touchy" screen?
Is there a way to adjust the scrolling speed and the screen sensitivity?
2. going online is extremely frustrating. most links in webpages don't work in either IE or Opera, not to mention excruciatingly slow load (I bounce between edge & 3g) and several attempts to open a website (screen turns white and freezes)
Is there a way to obtain a half decent web browsing experience without being tech savvy?
I really want to like this phone but it's becoming too frustrating/time consuming to accomplish some of these presumably simple tasks like the ones mentioned above.
thanks in advance for your response
1. You're probably just used to using a capacitive touch screen like on the iPhone. When flick-scrolling on a resistive screen, you have to apply pressure. Don't apply so much that you are pushing down on the screen, but you shouldn't be brushing the screen with your fingers. That is probably what's causing the accidental taps you experience.
2. Don't know about anyone else, but here are my own tips to make my browsing experience extremely satisfying.
-disable java script and plugins. Most sites don't need them to work and this makes your pages load faster. Only turn them on when you absolutely need them.
-use your fingernails to hit links. Hit them once firmly and trust that the browser picked it up (it often does). Zoom in to small links to hit those.
-don't use IE
What sites don't work for you?
thanks for the reply. Example of site that doesn't work: realtor.com I cannot enter search data at all (i.e. zip code).
I tried your suggestion about scrolling but I am not able to scroll slow (i.e from one contact to the next or second next). someone who owns a tilt mentioned that there is a way to tweak the scrolling/screen sensitivity. Do you know how?
Thanks again

Song list
I'm having a similar problem: I like to listen to Arionradio.com, but I cannot get the browser to show what song is being play either on the main site or when I use the Arion Radio Player; I can hear the song fine but does not list whats playing. Is there a way to fix this?
Thank you for taking the time to reply!
Have you tried the SkyFire browser yet. it is a Full java enabled browser. I just went to realtor.com and did a search for my zip code. It worked and looks just like it does on the computer.

"Ghost inputing" problem.

I'm a first time poster. I have searched the Q&A section a few number of pages about my problem and I can't find anything.
My phone likes to press a certain area of the touch screen without me touching it at all. I don't really know what else to call it except "ghost inputing". Sometimes when I go to input text or when I'm at the home screen, it decides to go crazy. If I'm typing up a text message, if in portrait, my phone likes to type Q's even when I definitely don't want to. If I'm in landscape, a bunch of spaces and period is what it likes to press. If I'm at the home screen, the phone likes to pick up an app or open it.
It gets pretty annoying, especially when I'm just trying to reply to someones message. My only temporary way of fixing it was to turn on and off the screen. Sometimes it takes awhile.
I have tried flashing a stock 1.47 ota rom but it didn't really help, actually made it worse. Touch screen responsiveness dropped significantly, so i flashed back down to like 1.32 (responsiveness came back).
I got my phone the day it was released, so I don't even know if I can bring it back to Best Buy or not. Any kind of suggestion would be great... this problem can really bring my spirits down sometimes, especially when I'm showing off my phone to random people when they ask me. Kinda embarrassing to have my phone freak out when it's supposed to be a high end device....
Sounds like a warranty thing. I'd hit up htc.
Sent from my EVO from the Apple Store.
Im having the same problem making my phone useless :/
I have been trying to bring this issue to light for sometime!!
I have a topic on it already if you guys want to add to it but the end result for me right now is trying to get the phone exchanged..

I have had the same problem.
Turning the screen on and off sometimes makes it go away. It seems like it started when I rooted (simple 3 click). Not positive about that though.
I'm now running Fresh 3.1.0.1 and it is better.

problems with keyboard?

I know there are other threads like this but each phone is unique. Wondering of anyone else is having similar issues. Every now and then (throughout the day) ill open up messages. Handecnt kik. Browser etc... And ill start typing haptic feedback working. But no letters show up. I've tried stock. Better. And gingerbread keyboards all seem to have the same issue. Any way to fox this? My Inc 1 dis the same stuff sometimes but its quite annoying. I'm also running Atk like I always do I ignore keyboard messenger.and I've also tried without ignoring it. Is this an Atk problem or glitch with these HTC devices?
Happens to me sometimes too. I usually works if i hit the back button then where im trying to type again. It must be a little software bug.
So I got rid of Atk, problem solved

cannot use "back" button - excessive ???? in history

Recently I have been noticing that I cannot use my back button. I'm using IE9 and clicking the back button doesn't seem to do anything. If I click and hold the back button I can see a list that is:
http://ads.xda-developers.com/tags/3884
If I click on the bottom of the list and click and hold again I get a long list of the same url. If I do this eight or ten times, I finally see the actual last page I visited. I'm not a programmer but I believe that what is happening is that all the ads on the page are reloading several times.
Is this my setup or is this happening to everyone? This has never happened here before and it happens nowhere else. I have found sites that don't allow the back button or somehow reload the current page but I have never seen this long list of seemingly meaningless identical urls.
What's going on?
I am having the same issue. Anyone ever find a solution to this?
You had another thread like this. Are you sure it is not just your back button? Are you clicking it right lol. Again, please for the good of humanity use a different browser. You will be very happy with chrome or firefox. But because many do not use IE, they cannot help.
Also the link is broken for me.
And does this have anything to do with XDA? I think Microsoft have their own dedicated forums for this kind of thing.

I find that swiping to the right as the method for going back loads faster than the in-browser back button.
Hope that helps.
That's strange. On RT 8.0 back button is faster then swiping and also when swiping you can't touch or scroll anything until loading ends, but when using back button then you can.

I am also having this problem and noticed that it does that on IE Desktop and Metro. It is really annoying. It does not do that on my Note 2. I timed and it and it sometimes can take up to 10 seconds. Also has anybody else have issues with closing tabs. Sometimes the tabs become stagnate and can’t be closed unless restart IE Metro. I am currently running the Surface RT 8.1 with the latest updates. I love my tablet, but the whole browsing internet explorer is ruining it for me.
It's a lot better than it used to be. But it's still a little slow.
Not sure on the "swiping right" thing. I'll give that a go, I usually swipe left to go backwards.

I have the same issue with Surface 2 running 8.1. Swiping to go back one page immediately loads a "preview pic" of the last page, but until the page is really reloaded it doesn't allow to scroll. This can take quite long for slow / complex sites.
I also noticed an additional annoyance: after a few hours/days of use the swipe back function seems not to work anymore (sometimes it still works but doesn't show the panning page, and sometimes it does not work at all anymore). I need to restart Metro IE to make it work again. Did somebody else notice this?
