So I've kind of decided to attempt to flash a ROM again in this phone.
Some of you may remember my previous problems months ago, running into a boot loop caused by the updated radio version (i thought). But when I flashed the old radio and tried to flash a ROM again, same thing happened, so since then I've left it alone.
What might I have been doing wrong?
I used the All in one kit last time to easily unlock my bootloader and root the phone, that's the easy part.
The hard part is not soft bricking r thing.
Is a cricket device handled differently?
Thanks for any advice (Idk if this is posted on the right area)

Sorry about that.
So in the past I had to look up an old RUU (Cricket) to get out of the bootloop. Now the phones boots, but it's not the Radio version that is apparently compatible with 4.2 ROMs...
I take it no one wants to tackle this one?
the cricket device is not diffrent than the vm_usa. everything works the same except the mms and the ruu is diffrent. i do have one cricket device and one vm_usa flashed to cricket. i unlocked using the htcdev.com, pushed twrp 2.2.2 and flashed the super su. no problems. i flashed every rom known to the one v. some worked, some never made it past the boot screen. I just moved to the htc evo 3d and flashed it to cricket and ran the ruu on the cricket hov to give it to my wife so everything will work.
what problems are you having??

when i get home i can copy the address of the site i used to root and i can provide the super su file that is missing from the site

Well the last time I tried to flash anything I got stuck in a boot loop. Apparently it was attributed to the radio version. But when I flashed an radio from the site provided on these forums, I still had the same problem.
Now I unlocked the boot loader again last night. But forgot how to root lol
i did not think cricket had the new radio. to get the old radio, you have to ruu the device back to stock with the old radio
to get root, you have to get the recovery you want. i used twrp 2.2.2 flash it in fastboot
code: fastboot flash recovery twrprecovery.img
in recovery, flash the super su zip in recovery
if you need these files, let me know. i still have them
edit!!! and you have to relock the bootloader and have stock recovery to ruu, so if you are going to ruu to old radio, don't unlock and root YET

That's what I don't get. Certain radio files didn't work, I had to use the cricket one which leaves my radio at a different version than the "working" radio stated in the Ruu thread.

i do not think that cricket and virgin have the same radios. i have a virgin phone flashed to cricket and it has the "dreaded radio". the radio on my cricket was never a problem and never matched the numbers of the bad one. and you can't flash radios on the one v with out s-off

if using twrp 2.2.2 wipe system, factory reset, cache, dalvik
flash rom
wipe cache and dalvik again
flash kernel in fastboot
boot like normal. let the rom load before flashing gaps
go back into recovery and flash the correct gaps for the rom
wipe cache and dalvik again
reboot
if you do not wipe all, you are doing a "dirty" flash and will have problems. your old rom will bleed through sometimes and you phone will not do what you tell it to.
R: Cricket HTC One V rooting and flashing
There's a reason why they call the kernel boot.img, without it you just don't boot
Got the rom flashed and all the gapps (i think)
Any tips now?

I'm interested in trying other ROMs but I would like to be able to return to my current stock ROM if it doesn't work out. Currently I'm running a Bell ROM, but the version is more recent than this one.
Specificially, I'm running 1.34.666.5 with Radio 12.28b.60.140eU.26.03.02.26_M.
Right now, both the firmware and the radio versions are newer than anything on the xda site. Would it be possible for you to obtain a newer RRU? I have checked both the Bell and HTC sites and couldn't find a download link for any RRU.
If it isn't possible, can I expect my phone to update to the current versions OTA if I give it this ROM?
Is it possible for extract the current radio ROM from my phone itself?
I apologize in advance if I'm asking these questions in the wrong place

if you permroot/s-off your phone. you can do a full backup using clockworkmod recovery. however, you do NOT want to flash official ruu's and such, if one is older then the one your on or from another brand, this will happen: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=838484
if you want to try this rom, it will have to be A.made into an update.zip rom w/hboot, radio, and recovery all REMOVED, or B. take just the system.img out of it and flash JUST the system.img in fastboot in bootloader (not the fast boot in sense). "fastboot flash system system.img"...you will then need to re-permroot, but skip all the s-off/hboot stuff, you will still be s-off.

Yeah, I need the Radio 12.28b.60.140eU.26.03.02.26_M Extracted from your ROM too. Because I flashed the WWE ROM and I'm having signal issues, compared to my brother who is using that current Bell ROM. If I have to run the Bell ROM to fix this, I'd do that too, but I can't find 1.34.666.5 only the 1.34.666.1 that's listed in this post.
*EDIT*
So... I flashed this posted RUU "[RUU] RUU_Vision_BellMobility_WWE_1.34.666.1_Radio_12.28 b.60.140e_26.03.02.18_M2".
But found the kernel is different, so I couldn't S-OFF to get recovery back on. So... I had my brother S-OFF his phone and make a

I then proceeded to flash "RUU_Vision_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.5_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155556_signed" back onto my phone, and then rooted, S-OFF, flashed clockwork" and then recovered using my brothers Nandroid backup. Then used clockwork to reset it back to factory. I then made a nandroid backup of that. So, I am posted a Nandroid Backup of
So if you flashed this, the steps are as follows to get back to the original Bell ROM.
1. Flash "RUU_Vision_HTC_WWE_1.34.405.5_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155556_signed"] ROM via multiupload.com /67NZB9NER1
2. Root
3. S-OFF
4. Install Clockwork Recovery via ROM Manager
5. Reboot into Clockwork
6. Recover using Bell HTC Desire/Vision 1.34.666.5 Nandroid Backup via my upload here multiupload.com /6SETLDCPJE
Hope that helps some people who are stuck!
PS To Flash the WWE ROM you might need a Gold Card, I used one.
I'd like a tutorial on how to extract just the radio from the WWE roms. If we could get them as .zip's, loading them with recovery would be very beneficial. I know that if you install a WWE update through HBOOT, you will lose your root and it will return your phone to s-off. Its a bit of a pain of having to go through the rerooting process every time.

Ok, so now that I've unlocked my device using the new gfree method, and have true radio S-OFF and SuperCID, I believe that I could now flash any provider image and return to my backup or a stock provider image at any time. I'm right, er, right?

I am not 100% sure on this myself, but I think it should be ok now. Before the problem was that you could flash an older ROM, and it would first off flash the stock HBOOT over the previous eng HBOOT that was giving you S-OFF. So this would immediately put you back to S-ON. However, now with radio S-OFF you will stay at S-OFF in the flashing process, because the change is made in the radio configuration partition, which won't be touched by the flash.

it depends on points of view i've nothing against TWRP, i use it on my Transformer and it is pretty good, better layout and view of the raw CWM but on the HOX i prefer using the CWM, i would love to see a port of the best recovery out there, the 4EXT
It is the Evita version, on ATT. I decided to RUU it and start from scratch. this time however i am going to use Hasoon2000's all in one kit instead of the traditional method. ill post an update in a little bit to see if the roms will successfully flash second time around
Ok so after re unlocking the bootloader and re rooting the phone. TWRP v2.3.1.0 still fails to flash roms. which doesnt make sense because it was able to flash superuser. does anyone have an explanation for this or do i have to flash CWM?

I tried flashing a PAC Man ROM v19.3[Stable]. And my phone continues to reboot in the setup screen.
This is what I did:
1 Flashed boot.img in fastboot
2 Wiped System
3 Factory Reset
4 Wiped Cache
5 Wiped Dalvik Cache
6 Rebooted
It still continues to reboot during setup and I have tried several versions of the PAC man ROM now. Im not sure what I should do now because other people seem to not have this problem.

But now all my Phone is showing to me is the T-Mobile branded screen. no boot to rom.
So my Phone is:
S-On
Bootloader relocked.
rooted (?)
i can't boot into android and i don't have any idea what is to do.
Maybe installing a stock rom via CWM as .zip oder flashing via ADB.
please give me your help
greetz
You are not S-Off, so either you got rid of it or AAHK didn't work properly. Your phone can't be both S-Off and have an unlocked bootloader. Re-unlock and flash a ROM from recovery.
okay thanks i get it, but it isn't much better
I flashed a custom rom, no result.
only T-Mobile-Screen

Yes, after zip in recovery. It is in the ROM zip. You need to S-Off manually now; there are instructions at AAHK's old site.

Big Thanks, the Rom works.
But the last problem is I don't get a mobile signal.

I'm in germany aren't some roms working with gsm?
I had reinstalled with full wipe ? no result.
Or should I simply try another rom?
my bootloader show me this message. (added File)
how to fix it?
thanks guys <3
It would be nice if somebody could help
the bootloader is looking for PD98IMG if an sd card is mounted.
I tried a lot of PD98IMG files, but none of this are working.
it's very difficult to get them, because the most of these files are down.

Hey guys, first post here and I couldn't find a good thread title. Hope that's not a problem
Anyways I need a little help with my m8, because I don't know what else to do.
I'll start from the beginning:
It's a One m8, bought from O2 Germany a few months ago. There were no O2 apps installed as I bought it, though.
I unlocked the bootloader, rooted the phone, flashed the TWRP recovery and the Venom m8 ROM. It was S-On over the whole time. Tried to make it S-OFF with the help of firewater but it didn't worked, so I didn't tried it anymore.
I just wanted to flash the newest Venom ROM, but to do so, I had to flash the newest firmware (Kitkat 4.4, have 4.2 right now)
So I relocked the bootloader, because that's what people on the internet said you have to do, to flash the newest stock firmware. After that I wanted to go back to Venom m8.
After relocking the bootloader, I rebooted the phone, and now I'm stuck in there. But in the fastboot mode.
Tried to enter the recovery -> can't access it
Tried to make a factory reset -> didn't worked
Everytime klick on recovery or factory reset, the phone reboots and comes back into fastboot.
Normaly you boot into hboot I think.
At the top of the screen stands:
***TAMPERED***
***RELOCKED***
***Security Warning***
I've seen the first two the whole time, but the third one is new :/
Here are the things I tried until now:
Flashing a stock ROM (it was a OTA_m8_O2___102...) I could try to find the actual link, if that helps.
Flashing a custom recovery (tried TWRP, after that CWM) Yea I already have custom recovery, but I tought it might help somehow.
Erased fastboot cache
None of these things worked. Fastboot is the only thing that works.
So my question now is, if anyone of you guys got any other idea how to solve that problem?
I really would appreciate any help.
If you need some more informations about the phone, just let me know. I guess there's missing some important informations
Sorry for the long text and if I misspelled something
EDIT: I just remembered that the flashing of TWRP or CWM didn't worked. It said FAILED: signature verify fail
Flashing of the Stock ROM worked I guess. There was the silver HTC logo on the phone. Then I flashed it in fastboot mode.
I tried to find this RUU software, but I couldn't find it :/
And "adb" in cmd also not working. It says "device not found"
Have you tried unlocking it again ?

Oh, and what are your CID / MID / bootloader version / firmware version / etc. ?

You're bootloader needs to be unlocked, not re-locked. Go to HTC Dev to unlock in again, just like the first time. Then you can flash a recovery.
Like said above, phone HAS to have unlocked bootloader to flash custom ROMs and recovery(which is why you're getting FAILED: signature verify fail). Can't flash custom recovery/ROMs with a locked bootloader.
Go to HTCDev.com and unlock the bootloader like before, then head over to the collection of stock backups thread(in general section) download a nandroid backup for your device and restore it. After that you can flash back the stock recovery(also in the collection thread) and just do the OTA updates until you get to 4.4.4 to use the latest ViperROM.
SunShine don't work with a modifyed custom Rom like ViperS. I flashed ARHD (or stock Rom) and got S-Off with SunShine.
Firewater don't work at all anymore so you have to use SunShine and pay the 25$ it cost.

Its not a bad one. At least better than many thread titles that say things like "Need help". Which of course is obvious, since its a Q&A, help forum! At least you tried to classify your issue!
Although the question of whether its a "soft brick" is not a critical one. IMO the term "soft brick" really doesn't mean anything. It simply means the user just got himself into a jam and doesn't know how to recover. And recovering is usually just a matter of knowing the right simple steps. More important to whether its a "soft brick", is whether the phone is truly bricked or not. And as long as the screen comes on, this phone is virtually never bricked.
RUUs don't exist for Euro versions (only the US versions, as far as I know).
The bootloader needs to be UNLOCKED to flash anything. Either just use the previous unlock bin code and fastboot command, or go through HTCDev.com unlock process again (as previously suggested). Then flash custom recovery, and flash a custom ROM or restore a stock nandroid.
Hey guys, sorry for the late response.
I did what you all said and unlocked the bootloader again. And that was it.
After unlocking it everything works normal.
You guys are the best, I knew this is the right place to come
Even the Venom ROM is on the phone. Everything else is gone, but the ROM is there.
Alright but I still would like to get the newest firmware for the phone. Could you guys give me a little help with this?
What do I have to do first?
I read a lot about how to do this. But as you can see something still went wrong :/
On the phone is currently Android 4.4.2 and ViperOneM8 1.7.0
First thing I have to do is, to grab a Nandroid Backup with the stock ROM, right?
I did this before, but then I read somewhere that the bootloader has to be locked, or relocked to update the newest stock ROM/ the newest firmware.
So if anyone knows how to do this correctly, please let me know.
Also when I flashed the nandroid backup (my own backup from before I flashed venom) I tried to update the firmware, but it wanted to update the latest Venom update.
Is this considered as normal?
Bootloader version (Hboot) is 3.16.0.0... At least I think this is the right one.
@jkolner: Didn't know that firewater doesn't work anymore. How long is this?
@redpoint73: Thanks for the heads-up Also I didn't know that there are no RUUs for the european versions. Good to know that now.
Thank you all for your answers
EDIT: I just tried to enter the recovery and it worked as well.
Oh and when I wrote above that I flashed the stock nandroid backup and the phone wanted to update the latest venom update, I think it was because the rom was still the Venom Rom, right?
Sure it was a nanroid backup, but the ROM was not the stock ROM? Or am I mix-up something there?

It sounds like you are trying to return to stock, and install official OTA to update firmware. In that case, unlocked bootloader is OK for OTA (no need to relock). But you need stock ROM and stock recovery.

You are mixing something up. The point of restoring a stock nandroid, is to return to the stock ROM. It sounds like your nandroid is made while on Viper ROM, not stock ROM. Either that, or the nandroid just didn't restore the ROM properly. Make sure "system" is checked on partitions to restore in recovery.

Its been that way for months now. But your hboot version is old; so firewater might work, might not. Worth a few tries; as firewater is free and doesn't take long. If it still fails, you need to use sunshine to s-off.

Exactly this. Alright, then I read something wrong. I thought to flash the stock ROM you have to have a relocked bootloader.
I'll search a stock ROM and recovery. Hoperfully it will work.

This could be it. I don't know if there was already the Venom ROM in use. Could be.

EDIT: After I flashed the Nadroid Backup, do I have to wipe something, like Dalvik or anything?

I wipe Dalvik and cache when I flash anything.
Recovery will wipe system as it flashed the ROM. No need to do so manually.
If restoring a nandroid without data partition backed up, you may or may not have to wipe user data. It might not play well with the restored ROM, but it depends on what ROM you are coming from. If error occur, wipe data and restore again.
If you are restoring a nandroid with data partition backup, it will be wiped during restore. No need to do so manually.
Alright I flashed my own stock nandroid backup. Guess I just read something wrong because I thought it will get the latest Venom Update.
Then I downloaded and installed the latest updates. Now the phone has finally Android 4.4.
After everything went good, I flashed the twrp recovery, made a Backup, rooted the phone, did another backup and flashed the latest Venom ROM.
Before flashing something I wiped everything, like you said.
All is good now.
I think now I can totally forget to gain S-OFF with firewater. But I'll save the link to sunshine. Maybe I'll give it a try
Thanks again everyone, couldn't have done it without your help
