Introducing - Help with Roms - HTC One X

Hi everyone. I recently bought an Htc One X and I'm pretty happy with it, it's an awesome device and surprisingly the whole Sense UI runs smooth, I haven't experience any lag or glitch at all (coming from a Xperia Play it's quite a change).
However I do like the taste of Custom Roms, and it's something I've been used to so I'm now asking for some help from experienced HOX users when it comes to Unlocking Bootloader and best Custom Roms (opinions). Can anybody guide me to some helping threads/ tutorials please?
Thanks in advance!

[Q] I need help with roms

Hi guys,
After a long day and a full ash tray, I've my wildfire s rooted, I've got some experience with what is going around but I'm so much enthusiastic to try new roms (I'm still on my 2.3.5 stock) or even customize my sense with some MODs (I'd love to remove that bottom bar that has "phone" and "apps"...may be edit how many pages in the home screens).
I'd be more than happy to know your thoughts...
last question, how can I know from the rom name that it supports arabic for example ? are there any nomenclature rules unified ?

So you're looking for ROM recommendations?
It all depends on what you like. I'm not very much a sense liker - I find it too cluttered, slow, and I feel as if I'm fighting with the UI just to get simple tasks done. I use CyanogenMod 9, it's got some awesome features and deep customisation features.
What I'd recommend is that you take the time to give a sense 3.5, CM9, CM7 and MIUI ROM a 24hr trial run. That should be more than enough time to figure out which ROM you feel is best for you, and what you'd enjoy
Thank you dudeman for the recommendations, you assured my thoughts...
I'm still looking for a way to understand how nomenclature goes

[Q] ROM for htc one v?

Hello,
i have been using htc one v now but i am bored with it and plus it has become extremely slow, though i deleted lots of data and extra apps. still it is very laggy and takes a century to start any app. i was lately thinking to change to a custom rom, but ever since that thought occurred to me, i've been in the dilemma if choosing the right one. i searched the forums but couldnt satisfy myself. i want a rom that will be based on jelly bean and at the same time running full htc sense. how will i make it possible? may be someone over here could help me with that. i have least knowledge of roms and related stuff.
regards,
Abbas
Jelly bean in combination with sense isnt (yet) possible on the one v.

Like the above post, full sense is not yet available on current ROMs. And, I'm not sure that it will be considering most people install custom roms to get away from sense (like me).
If you want a custom rom still, I recommend the AOKP rom, with the CDMA version that I'm using, it's really stable and pretty fast and everything seems to work, even bluetooth. Still some graphics glitches, but those will get worked out.
I would recommend maxwen & Lloir's CM 10 ROM, it is smooth and dinamic. Before that Íve got the same issues as you.

Port it yourself.... The devs are not standing at your service porting whatever you want.

Custom Rom

Hi. Im pretty much a newbie with all things android. I have just updated my HTC ONE X (HTC__622) to the official jelly bean update. And I wanted to root my phone and apply a custom rom to it. I have been browsing the forums but its just got me more confused on which rom to use. Can someone suggest a good rom for battery, stability with camera, wifi and the usual stuff working fine.?? Also im a big fan of the Stock android People and Dialer app.. So which roms support that? Can I get that with Sense rom too?.. Thanks.. Eagerly awaiting to flash
I've settled on OrDroid (now on version 11.3) but the ARHD one is also good. These are both Sense ROMS that generally look stock but arent. Def a good start both fast and stable.
Hello,
You can root your device using the method given on htcdev.com. One of the simplest and most trusted methods.
As for ROMs, Youll get maximum battery life and stability on sense ROMs only. Performance, battery and stability wise sense ROMs a way better than AOSP ROMs. So I would suggest sense ROMs.
But its upto your taste and liking in the end!

You can not root your device on the htcdev site !!! You can only unlock the bootloader there, it gives you the right to flash a custom recovery and therefore custom roms !!! Please give the proper info
thanks guys for ur help. yes i have unlocked the bootloader from htc dev, installed cwm and rooted via superuser.zip...
before ur suggestion of ordroid or arhd i tried out renovate. and now im downloading ordroid.... read somewhere its more stable.
also im missing the android stock people's app and the dialer with full screen calling (i have seen screenshots of it on CM10) on these sense rom.
i really dont want to miss out on the sense cam and stability... can anyone suggest any mods for the aosp ppl app or fullscreen calling and dialer ??
Know some devs have put the sense camera on non sense Roms like miui x (lyapota camera one). I guess if you are using renovate you are on a jb hboot so that may be no good but worth looking around.

hey thanks for the info. I'll definately look at miui.... n btw i am on ordroid now switched almost 4 roms yesterday :
renovate
cm10
4.2 jb ( really liked the rom but i missed my sense cam and smart dial)
ordroid
If you like the sense smart dial then there are similar apps that are good when not on sense. Dialer one is the first that comes up on play search and it has some similar features.
Enjoy

I am pretty much a new android user too and just installed a custom rom this week.. I have tried both renovate and ordroid.. very smilar.. ordroid doesnt really have any visual changes... but is very stable.. so is renovate... what do u like the best abt blade Rom?
I was up till late last night flashing about 4 different Roms lol. Blade is fast as and I'm happr for the minute. I'm a fan of miui after running it on previous devices. ideally id like sense based rom with cm/solo custimisation. Like team viper ics There is a hell of a lot of Roms so ill keep looking.

There is no ROM comparison thread in the desire hd forum as it can be some kind of disrespect to the devs for their hard work.
You are encouraged to try all the roms by yourself as people tends to have different preferences.

You can select roms a tad easier using this list though:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002349
Other than that it is all about your preferences.
no "best rom" threads for the mentioned reasons.

[Q] Trying to choose the right ROM

Hi guys,
Currently I'm running VenomX on my HOX, but I want to change to something new (cooler?).
Anyway, I tried two different ROMs this Sunday; Android Revolution HD and Cyanogenmod, but neither didn't impress me that much to make a change.
I wanted to try-out Resurrection Remix 4.4.2, but as far as I realized, that's basically CM.
The one ROM that I ran longest on my HTC devices was MIUI (it's still on my Bravo which my gf uses), but I'm not exactly sure which one to choose for HOX. Is this one the best one for HOX?
Any kind of help and suggestion is very welcome.
Thanks!
There is no "best" rom. We can't decide for you. Try them and like them or not.

Best ROM threads are not allowed. Your best bet would be to try it out yourself and use a ROM that fits your preferences, not others'. Thread closed.
