Did you use an 11 pin or a 5 pin adapter?

I'm guessing it would work. I used samsungs 11 to 5 pin adapter and my current mhl cable.
EDIT: audio doesn't seem to be working for me but it might just be my mhl cable.

Hi guys,
I'm interested to know if there's a cable that can do everything that the smart dock does as I don't like the fact I can't use the smart dock in landscape mode.
I want to connect the Note 2 to a screen via HDMI, keep it charged/charging and have a female USB port so I can connect a hub/PS3 controller/Memory stick etc.
Also, I've read online that I may need to root to get all this functionality working?
Sorry if this has been asked before, I'm new to the Android community, just finished using BlackBerry.
Thanks
That's the dream. For now an non existant one...

Which cable? And what does it do please? Can it charge the note 2 but also have OTG?
Thanks
I had thought there was S Pen support for the GS4 but I'm mistaken so then I was wondering if there was some kind of hack you can enable s pen support for this device.

It's a different screen. It won't work and there is a thread about this already somewhere. You need to use a different type of pen, think they were saying c pen..
sent from my jelly bean infused note 10.1
I have the c pen from when I had the S3 and it works much better on the S4. I'm waiting for my glass screen protector to come in to see if it still works wih it on.
The c pen didn't work very well on the S3 with a glass screen protector.
Sent from my GT-N5110 using xda app-developers app
Galaxy Note 2/10.1 has an active digitizer (more properly, a dual digitizerl, similar to wacom drawing tablets, which S4 has not. So, using S Pen has no effect.

Hi all, I know this question was probably answered somewhere in XDA already but unfortunately I having trouble to find it.
Does Canadian (Bell) Note2 support USB OTG?
Looks like the international version of the N2 does support it but for some reason they decided not to implement that feature in the Canadian version...
is rooting the phone will solve that or it's due to some hardware limitations?
Thanks in advance!
Please note that when you get one of those cables, and it doesn't have the right amount of pins! Then it will not work correctly 4u.
One other thing is that you have to make sure that you push the usb otg all the way in. I was having the same problem but it was user error. :what:
And I use that same cable on a stock Rom on my Samsung Skyrocket. So I'm quite sure your phone should work with it!!
Just have to get the right cable!

You will need to have an installed kernel that supports USB-OTG functionality and is enabled... I believe most of the i317/N7105 kernels support it.

I have a cable that perfectly works on my Motorola xoom so I was assuming that the cable is fine... unless N2 need a different adapter (11 pin/5 pin)
,which I think I doesn't need...
Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm currently running BeanStalk with it's stock kernel (neak kernel i think) which I believe support OTG.

5pins should be fine for otg. You need 11pins, or the 5 to 11 converter, if you're trying to do video out via mhl.

No need for the other adapter. It should work with your phone right out the box!

Wrong! That's what I taught also. That we needed that adapter. We don't! I've used the mhl adapter with my phone stock kernel with no problems!!

Then your mhl must be an 11 pin. Every post, as well as my own experience, says the 5 pin mhl won't work unless you get the 5/11 adapter for it. It's not a question of kernel or stock rom, but 11 pins vs 5 for mhl video out.

"out of the box" is true about the international version.
as per Samsung Canada the local version of the N2 here in Canada is not capable of doing USB OTG because of hardware limitations...
now personally me, I think it's b******* and there is some way to get around that...
and this is the actual question, how?
and BTW MHL works fine for me (with the Samsung S3/N2 MHL adapter which is 11 pin).

Edit: just hooked it up too my tv just 2 show it works as I said!!
I would try flashing another Rom with a different kernel see if that helps you!
But make a back up of your current set up FIRST!!

I have a note 2 (1317m) from bell in Calgary and usb otg works fine for me on Miscom's custom rom with perseus kernel. I should also note that I have 2 otg adapters (both 5 pin) and they both work on my galaxy nexus, but only one works on my note 2. The one that doesn't work feels like it's a little too short to make a proper connection.

As I thought Samsung Canada tried to feed me crap on a spoon.
So it might be the adapter... as I mentioned before, it does work on my Moto Xoom. You right though, I guess there is a filling that it kind of "short".
The MHL adapter that I have feels longer...
Sent From My Note 2 Using XDA Premium HD
Yup, I'd bet that's your problem. My samsung power cable, my mhl adapter and the working otg adapter all feel like they kinda "suck in" when I push them in the last little bit. The non working otg one definately felt different. I can't find it at the moment to see if it's shorter, but the one that works is about 6mm long if that helps.
