[Q] S Pen Support for GS4 - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

I had thought there was S Pen support for the GS4 but I'm mistaken so then I was wondering if there was some kind of hack you can enable s pen support for this device.

It's a different screen. It won't work and there is a thread about this already somewhere. You need to use a different type of pen, think they were saying c pen..

I have the c pen from when I had the S3 and it works much better on the S4. I'm waiting for my glass screen protector to come in to see if it still works wih it on.
The c pen didn't work very well on the S3 with a glass screen protector.

Galaxy Note 2/10.1 has an active digitizer (more properly, a dual digitizerl, similar to wacom drawing tablets, which S4 has not. So, using S Pen has no effect.

Will the Galaxy Note Stylus Pen work on Galaxy Nexus?
Has any one tested this, it would be cool if we could port some of the things for Note to Nexus.

Nope the stylus won't work with the nexus because it doesn't have the hardware components required for it to work.

no it won't

You could just buy any generic capacitive pen. That will work, have no clue about the S-Pen tech however.
Regards.
No. The pen needs to be able to send signals for pressure and speed to the handset its self. It will draw and use the screen. But it won't use any s-pen tech
So it would be a very expensive stylus at £60 a pop

Tried it because my brother has a Note and it doesn't work at all. Our Gnex doesn't register any touches on the screen. As previously commented, you would have to get a different capacitive pen

Screen Issue

Top row of pixels on my screen have high contrast (or the pixels are dead, not sure). It looks ugly.. Any idea how to fix it? And how this happened so I can avoid in the future.
Black seems to reduce the issue but any another color a line is visible.
Top row pixels are displaying everything but at a higher contrast.

I've that odd issue as well on top row but also on the down row... I don't know how to fix it, I think it's an hardware problem due to the amoled natural deprecation.
When you bought yours? Mine is of Nov 2011
Inviato dal mio Galaxy Nexus
Mine have it too, bought on May this year.
I bought it an year ago.... So its natural?

Try screen tester/repair apps on market, several free ones available, tests for deadspots/burn in/pixel drop, theres one for galaxy nexus specifically for amoled, flashes strong colours somehow fixes it, seems to work as it showed mild burn in from launcher which seems to be better now, noob advice here sorry

Wierd sPen issue, Read on as it may affect you too

So here's the weird issue. I have an AT&T galaxy note and I have put the GT and 7100 image on it.
so I went a T Mobile store, and I played around with their galaxy note 2 on display. I pulled out my spen. And started writing on the display device. now I grabbed the spen from the display note to, and started writing on my own note and it doesn't work. So what gives.
so the SPen from the display note 2 does not work on my note but my sPen from my note works on the display note on T Mobile.
So what you're saying is that your sPen works, but the display model's sPen doesn't. ok?
Did the display model's sPen work on the display phone?
Does the sPen perhaps only work when there's not an sPen inside the device?
The sPen they use for display models around me are all fake ones. The reason I know is the little white tip is not movable basically a display model of an sPen.
OP You sure you didn't have your S-Pen inside your phone when you tried to write with the other one? there's some kind of power saving thing that turns off the Wacom digitizer when the pen is holstered.
The spen they had was what it come with the phone there was no tether. The display's sPen works on the display Note 2 but not mine.
While mine works on both my device and the display device.

Am I missing something? Your S-Pen works with your device and the T-Mobile floor model. The S-Pen from the floor model doesn't work with your device. Why do you (or should we) care as long as your S-Pen works? I have five S-Pens between my N2 and Note 10.1; all work equally well on either device. I don't care if an S-Pen I don't own or use works on my devices.
Recently I lost my spen so..I called Samsung and spoke to customer service and found out that the spens are different and function differently with each device (verizon spen wont work with att device)..and vice versa...Verizon spen has different functionality ?..I dont get it

This was the answer to the problem. There is a setting for the spen that needs to be unchecked so that you can can write on the screen even if an spen is in the silo.

For all the people here, the S pen is not just an ordinary capacitive stylus, rather its hardware is properly configured and hardcoded to work with the phone only. If you think you have an alternate truth, then prove it.

Here is an app I wrote to make it easier to set this on/off. Cheers!
My s pen does not work on my note 2 other s pens don't work on it either.....my s pen works on my sisters s5 could it be something with my screen?

More comfortable?

So the Samsung guy paid a visit and brought the AT&T version of the S4 with him...my question is: Is this better than our Note 2? I don't mean internally or as far as screen. It does everything the Note can do and more without need of a stylus AND has Multi-Window, all in a smaller package. Is this the ultimate device in terms of power AND comfort? I, like many, have that nagging obsession of buying everything that comes out...so I will get it. How about you? Would u switch because of the S4's much smaller size?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
The main reason I bought the note was the size. Would never get another phone simple for a smaller size.
So anything below 5.5" is too small? My S3 feels tiny in my hand after using my Note and the fact that everything is smaller on the screen doesn't help either. I wonder how much of a difference it'll be between the Note screen and S4 in everyday use.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 using Tapatalk 2
I would stay with the note, mostly because I'm used to it now lol. But I would go to the s4 mostly because of 4.2.2 on it

Ohh hell no!!! I would never switch to an S4,I'm very happy with this beast of a phone.
Just like the wise man said YOU COULD NEVER STAY UP TO DATE WITH TECHNOLOGY).
EDIT: just an fyi, there is a sticky thread for phone comparisons especially the s4.

I to am still in love with with my note. Even if the S4 is greater than or equal to note 2 I will keep my note. I have actually come to enjoy the stylus and would miss it if it were gone.

Also note that any GS3 data cable can plug into one of those USB to 120V adaptors.
