I have an unlocked and rooted Evo 4G Sprint phone and am wanting to flash it to a different carrier. I want to use either ST, Net10, or Tracphone, but am unsure which would give me the best reception. I live in a very rural area so this decision is critical. I know for sure that I get no signal with ATT, Tmobile, or any other GSM carrier that I've been able to test. I do get signal with US Cellular, Net10, and Tracphone, have not been able to test with ST. I'm unsure what towers these CDMA carriers operate off of. If any use USC, it would be best, but I've never found where any of them use USC.
I can't find guides to flash my EVO to Net10 or Tracphone, but guides for ST are all over the place.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. If no one can answer my question, I'll probably just flash it to ST and if it doesn't work I'll sell it and try something different.
Thanks!

hi All!
I am in a big fix and need the right facts here... so please help if you know of it, and are sure about it.
I intend to buy the HTC Evo 4G outright from Sprint, from the HTC US online store, for around $549. Now would like to know if this would be network unlocked?
I need to use this phone in India on CDMA network of the same frequency as the Sprint's, and i know i can use it here without a sim card. Now my only worry is that whether this would be locked to only Sprint network when i pay the full price for it from HTC store?
Thanks a lot!
Without rooting and some modifications, it is locked to the Sprint network. However, if you poke around some of the other forums where people have unlocked CDMA phones (the CDMA Hero comes to mind) you might see what they've done to unlock it to other networks.
I know this is very old post, but help me too. I want to use my htc evo in korea. It is rooted with s-off and I'm wondering if the phone is country locked or locked to sprint network. How can I tell? thx.
You can't unlock a CDMA phone, only GSM can be network unlocked. You can use your Sprint phone only if Sprint has set up an agreement with the country you are going to. But then you'd have to pay Sprint International Roaming rate.
According to this,
http://internationalroaming.sprint.com/IntlCoverage/SearchCountry.do?ECID=vanity:sww
South Korea is listed.

You can if you can do the following:
1. Have a way to activate the EVO in S. Korea with a provider that runs CDMA in 800mhz (create account, and add the EVO's ESN to that account)
2. Have access to a PRL file that gives priority to the CDMA network by the provider in #1, and update the PRL on your EVO with it.
I think #2 is doable, #1 may be difficult unless you know Korean well, or know someone who understands the issues and is willing to help. Also, while Korea has "PCS" bands, but they are not the same as the 1900 mhz PCS bands in the US, I believe they are in the 1700 mhz range, and are not the same as the AWS bands in the US, also in 1700mhz, but also in 2100mhz.
All that maybe fruitless, as you'll only have voice call capability, unless you also know how to program the mobile ip settings to get data working as well.
OK i hope this hasn't been talked about already, I couldn't find it. If i understand correctly...the EVO is a world model phone and is capable of both CDMA as well as GSM. I could be wrong...I have an ATT plan and Im sick of Sprint service however i love my evo. has anyone successfully made a GSM rom for these phones? if so where do i find it or would someone be willing to give it a shot? I might need to "repair' my ESN too. any input other than "I'm a dumb a$$ for thinking of it" would be appreciated thanks.
Impossible to get the Sprint HTC Evo onto the AT&T network. AT&T uses SIM cards, which the Evo does not have.
The evo is not a world phone, it's purely CDMA & WiMax. AT&T uses GSM for voice, which is the world standard. AT&T currently uses some variant of HSPA for data, I believe.
What that boils down to is that no, you can't put an evo on AT&T. The only other major compatible network is Verizon, which also uses CDMA. However, Sprint is the only carrier that uses WiMax for 4G, so you'd be out of luck there.
There's also the thorny issue of CDMA carriers not allowing equipment from competitors activate on their accounts. Some smaller carriers will take devices from other carriers, but I don't really know much about them.
Hello complete noob here, tried some searching but didnt come up with anything definitive. What would be required to use an EVO on US Cellular's network? What I have:
Newest USC PRL
MSL for EVO
Abilitiy to activate the ESN on USC
Read the tuts on Metro PCS hacks, how similar are the two? Is this possible?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Well I guess it could be possible, but you'd first have to find out of US Cellular is a GSM or CDMA network [I don't personally know] and then if they are CDMA, you'd have to find out if they have the equipment to flash the phone tot he network.

Theyre CDMA, USC also roams on Verizon as well as Sprint
Well then I guess you'd have to seif they can flash the evo over to it.
Hi Everyone and thanks in advance,
I have a T-Mo Galaxy S4 that was SIM unlocked through unlockerDotnet.
I've heard that the T-Mo S4 is better than AT&T for a variety of reasons, but more importantly that it picks up all of T-Mobiles HSPA+ along with AT&T's network. So in theory, having it sim unlocked, I could fully utilize t-mobile's service and at&t's service to their full potential. Can anyone confirm this?
Reason I ask was I was speaking with a TMO rep once and he said the international unlocked version wouldn't pick up on the full spectrum of TMO frequencies, but it should be fine with AT&T. Ideally I want to get into a situation where I have the option to jump between the two through their full spectrum, or any mvno's that use their towers as well.
Thanks for the clarification! Details and specifics appreciated!

T-Mobile's phone will work on both AT&T and T-Mobile however im not sure if the 4g LTE will work on AT&T's Network but either way you will only be able to use one or the other at any one time.
I've exhausted pretty much every forum and can't seem to come upon a straight answer. Hoping someone here can help.
I have a Canadian Note 2, SGH-i317M model. Stock ROM, and unlocked. I am trying to get it to work on the US AT&T LTE frequency. I previously tried to get it to work on T-Mobile following the guide on galaxynote2root.com to unlock the AWS band but I could only still get HSPA+ speeds. Inserting an AT&T sim after this still only gets my the HSPA+ speeds. From what I can gather, the modem should be present in the device but I could be wrong.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for getting my Note 2 to work on AT&T's 4G/LTE bands?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
The modem and bands are correct out of the box for AT&T, but just like with Bell (and Rogers?) you need the LTE provisionning on whatever plan you're using. In the case of AT&T, I recall reading that the IMEI registered to the SIM in question also has to be from an AT&T LTE device. Last but not least I recall reading some MVNOs didn't offer LTE connectivity period.
