Hey guys. I updated my phone 0n official 4.1.1 international rom. Also its rooted as well but the bootloeris locked.
Anyways my phone is really slow now. The available ram is also only 180 mb or more. Everytime I open any folder on the desktop its opens with a lag. The home, back key don't respond well either.
Whats the problem with performance now?

Did you have updated with bootloader locked?
If yes, did you make a full wipe?
No I updated with bootloader locked. Also I did full wipes and cleared caches

It's strange...
Now you unlocked your phone?
Okk, so here's what I did (perhaps I couldn't explain)...
..I rooted the hox which was at 4.0
..official 4.0.4 ota update came
..updated and lost the root
..4.1.1 update came
..I relocked the bootloader (as it was not updating without it)
..updated it successfully
..now phone is slow

I put my phone back to stock yesterday with the same RUU as you, and did a software update to 4.0.4.
What was the process you followed to get there?

Downloaded ruu, relocked bootloader by fastboot OEM lock or whatever it is and installed ruu by opening executable ruu file on my pc. Maybe do I have to flash recovery with the stock recovery? At the moment it just resets factory settings if I try to go into recovery...

when you run a RUU it installs the recoverystock.img and boot.img too....no need to flash it again
Wonder why I can't get the update to 4.04 then?? With everything stock, when you go to recovery option does it just reset your phone? Back to defaults?

Going to try to get the cid.

Do I need to unlock again just to get cid? There isn't a cmd command to do it easily is there rather than going through HTC dev???

fastboot oem readcid
Although I'm not sure why we need this, we know which RUU works.
Try
fastboot erase cache
It might sort your recovery out and won't hurt.
Does the 4.04 update get rid of the 3 button menu bar???
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Yes it should. Replaces multitasking fuction. I'm the same. Reverted to same stock ROM and haven't received 4.0.4 which sucks coz I'm so used to viperX and having the menu button

So I tried flashing twrp recovery and its knocked out my sensors again. I've updated to 4.04 and when I tried installing my ruu I downloaded it said wrong version but its the same one I used before I updated to 4.04. What ruu version am I supposed to have now?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
The ruu updated your hboot. The old ruu has a lower hboot version. I think you have a ruu on the 1.29 base you need a 2.17 base ruu now.....please correct me if i'm wrong here mates !
Verstuurd van mijn HTC One X
Ok So I used the ruu to find out what version I should download. It is my current version is 2.17.980.6 and it wanted to downgrade it to 1.29........ So obviously that won't work. I went to the same thread I used when downloading the last ruu but can't find the 2.17.980.6 ruu anywhere. I'll keep searching but has anyone seen it??
hi
after returning to stock using my Nandroid backup and then flashing a stock recovery i can then boot up and use my phone as normal
my problem occurs is i want to upgrade to JB so i then go through the commands to lock my bootloader and it is succesful and locks but after this it will only ever then boot into bootloader, so to get my phone back to working condition i have to then unlock my bootloader and it works perfectly again but i cant update due to a unlocked bootloader.
have tried reflashing kernel, reflashing recovery, restoring the nandroid again all with no success
anybody have any ideas or am i doing anything wrong
any help would be much appreciated
Something else is wrong ! If you are on stock rom, boot.img and recovery you are good to go. The bootloader can stay unlocked.......is it possible you have the wrong nandroid ?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
will my phone update with it being unlocked. as doesnt the new jb update upgrade the bootloader?
my nandroid is a 2.17, recovery matches and the boot.img comes from the nandroid
Yes if everything is 100% stock then you can update with the bootloader unlocked. That is no problem it will work fine
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
thanks for the help
still would like some help as to why it will not lock seems very strange as my brother who has the same phone i went through the identical process and his was straight forward and locked mine just wont accept it
I can't give you the answer to that, but if the update fails its not due to the fact that the bootloader is unlocked !
Did u apply the update already ?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
no the update isnt showing yet suprislingly cid 001
aslong as its not a problem updating with bootloader unlocked then ill be fine then
thanks
I hope so, orherwise you have a nandroid of a non stock rom (maybe deleted some system apps)
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Yeh it's 100% a stock nandroid as its the only one I have from originally rooting the phone. And like I say it boots up fine just doesn't boot up atall when the boot loaders locked if its unlocked its fine
Just wait for the update, and see if it installs fine !

If your on HTC__001 just download the jellybean RUU. Lock your bootloader then run the ruu and it will update you
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
It's actually an 02 001 CID. And I can't find the RUU for the 2.17 software for O2
Ah you have to wait longer, the carrier needs to put their bloatware/crap in the update

Yeh I know was just preparing myself as I had seen a few posts and things in twitter saying they had released it today
So I rooted and unlocked my bootloader on a stock HTC one brand new from radio shack ics version 4.0.3 I want to know if I do the ota update will I suffer any damage to my phone and will it wipe? Also I have custom recovery so I have to choose zip file from downloads. I'm new to this phone do any info helps. Thanks

Sent from my HTC One V using xda premium
I don't see any harm in taking the update. Afaik it is just a radio update which can be reversed by running the ruu back to an older version. Try it and let us know your results.

It brings me to the cwm recovery menu and when I locate the update -sdcard/downloads/update that's where it is, it says this software could render your phone incompatible but it's an ota update
So it should work. I'm just scared to brick this phone I just got it two days ago so I could return and say it's not working I want another but I got it on sale and I don't know if they would do that or if I have to pay the extra 100$ which I can't do. Do if it doesn't start up what could I do to fix it? Like when you flash you have to fastboot a boot.zip file right? How do I do that? I'm still on stock obviously and I have a backup of my current status and completely brand new stock, thanks guys

To install the OTA update, you'll need to restore the stock recovery, stock kernel, and most likely relock your bootloader. If you are using Virgin Mobile, be warned, the OTA is not compatible with any roms or kernels available now. If you try to install any custom roms or kernels, you will be stuck in a bootloop and will have to RUU back the older version to install them.

Ok thank you I am using virgin mobile but I like the stock phone I feel changing roms is too much work and I feel as if I won't like them plus I need a computer 24/7 and also I don't feel comfortable with switching back and forth all the time if I don't like anything. Mods can delete this if they'd like I got my answer thank you guys

Yes you can root again.
I got my one v around last year and recently, it became super slow and laggy. Any ideas how to fix this problem? On stock rom, not rooted, bootloader not unlocked.

Root, unlock BL.
If still doesn't solve use swap script or use turbo speed boost.

Try factory reset. It will work.
If you don't want to do that,
Clean cache of all your application.
And another thing at least once in day.
Also do not keep back end syncing.
And some apps like chat messenger's try to avoid those or atleast keep those apps which you use very often.

Stuck on red development screen
I have a HTC One V(CDMA) that was rooted and unlocked bootloader. Now after I unrooted the phone and relocked bootloader runnnig on stock Android 4.0 ICS, it won't do a factory reset. When I try to do factory reset it, it will not get past the red HTC development screen. How can I get past the red development screen so that I can factory reset my phone?

You unloacked bootloader but did you flash a new stock kernal while installing your stock ICS?
If not , flash your stock kernal by going into fastboot mode.
This problem generally comes when there is mismatch of version of kernal and ROM.:highfive:
