oh dear "android os"...why my battery? - HTC One X

I am a happy owner of HOX. everything seems to be perfect except the battery drain..
Either Android OS or Android system consumes battery like hell...
After charging the phone for 100%, i just unplugged it and after 30 mins battery was 73%...and battery temperature was freaking 50C which is like 120C for batteries!!!!! I restarted the phone which made the temperature worse...then after few mins again restarted and now the phone is going in deep sleep..this has happened many times and surprisingly batterystats says there is no specific culprit..just Android OS or Android system.
I read somewhere that it is actually Android bug and google are trying to fix it..but why does it happens randomly? And this problem normally happens when battery is fully charged...
btw i am on ViperX 3.3.8 and on stock kernel
Any help would be appreciated!
Thank You

Rom? Kernel?

ROM kernel details updated on 1st post...btw viperx3.3.8 with stock kernel

This is also happening to me Im also using viper 3.3.8 on the kernel provided by Venom, Im gussing its a bug on 3.3.8

BetterBatteryStats might help you identify what causes this drain.

Thanks for trying to help but I have already mentioned in the thread that it is not saying which app is causing problem..just Android OS and below that Android system

Heres the easy way out, look at my signature, open the link , there you'll see the guide for ultimate battery on HoX , And also there is a link for WAKELOCKS guide. If you do decide to follow my guide but before that check your wakelocks i ensure you that you'll be hiting minimum 5 hrs screen time with heavy usage ( no gaming )

Today's usage as recorded few hrs ago...
total 4h 37m on battery from 100% down till 43%...3 mins data on only..onle 1 call..2 texts..thats all..wth...will be posting screenshots soon..

Sorry I thought you were talking about the stock battery stats. Have you looked at the kernel wakelocks and partial wakelocks sections? That's where you'll get the most useful information.

I am experiencing the same, was running doom v10 before and it would consume 1% per 2-3 hours. With v11 it is 1-2% per hour. Have checked cpuspy and it is running 98% in deepsleep and battery history only show the usual cell standby as power consuming.
Have only been running v11 since yesterday but will probably go back to v10 due to the battery drain.

PowerManagerService kernel wakelock killing battery but no partial wakelocks listed

I installed Quantum 3.15 ROM a few days ago with decimalman's kernel.
I am getting battery drain with my phone doing nothing at a rate of 7-8% per hour. BBS lists the PowerManagerService.wakelock at the top of the kernel wakelock section. A little research tells me this is a placeholder for all partial wakelocks. Problem is, partial wakelocks lists nothing. So I have no idea what is really going on. Can anyone give me some advice where to look next?

+1 Having the same question. About to post but turns out you have already post it :good:
Exactly the same situation tho my battery did not drain that much but still found the powermanagerservice and main kernel wakelock had been running very long time, while partial wakelock had very few awake. Any method to decrease the running time of powermanageservice and main without rooting your device?
bump for the answer!
Anyone got it fixed?

CM12 ROM eats battery

Hey guys
I recently installed CM12 (official version) but i noticed that it eats up alot of battery alot quicker than my stock ROM
i installed better battery stats and started recording stuff but idk how to read the information it provides
can someone help me?
Thanks
You could also try a cpu app such as no frills cpu to set the min and max frequencies.
I don't want to mess with clocks till I have expended all my other options. Do you guys know how to use the information betterbattery stats record?

Set BBS to show stats since Unplugged.
Charge your device so that it is fully charged just before going to bed.
Unplug and let it set idle overnight. This will let you know about background processes consuming battery, as opposed to you actually using the phone and consuming battery.
First thing in the morning open BBS. Click the share icon at the top left of the screen. Select the Text Dumpfile option and then Save. You could then take screenshots of the BBS pages; especially Partial Wakelocks, Other, and Alarms.
There are active threads with participants who are very familiar with interpreting the BBS results obtained.

You could also try dkp kernel. Search the forums here. I've heard you can get better battery life with it on cm12.

There may be apps running in the background. Find out about them. See which app is consuming max battery. If possible, clean flash a ROM like bootleggers and flash bfr kernel under clocked. The download link is available in the bootleggers thread.

Kindly share few basic information with your question.
Which ROM
Which baseband
Which kerñel
How many sim card
Which is your primary network
Your usage patterns (games or social or video, or like 4G or WiFi)
Age of Phone (actually age of your battery)
What is your SOT and standby (how often do you need to charge?)
Etc..
Usually battery monitoring apps like AccuBattery can give you good idea on what is using how much battery !!
