i read that class 10 cards for desire will only perform as class 6 as that's the highest it can handle. samsung is a reliable brand to go for imo, and you can always test the speed or return it if it doesn't perform to standard. to be honest i'm still on class 4, does the job for me.

only you can answer this question the best...how much local storage do you want or use? do you use it for music/video, and have enough to fill it the space?
- if it's comfortably less than 16gb, then go for 16gb
- if it's between 16gb and 32gb, then go for 32gb :good:
or in the long run, 32gb cards aren't that much more expensive nowadays, so you can buy 32gb and then worry less about space

thx for the replies but i was asking if this card is compatible with htc desire? read the desire is picky on sd card brands, etc...

What MicroSD Classes Work with the Desire...?

In regards to SD Cards
I can help you with that.
The card that you are trying to use is not compatible with the phone as the class is too high speed for the device to be able to keep up with the speed. I have included a link to a webpage with the sd cards that are compatible with that device.
http://www.expansys.com/a.aspx?i=196001
If you look under the accessory tab then down the bottom is compatible memory.
I trust that this resolves your query, please do not hesitate to contact us again if required.

I'm sure I read some threads about class 10's working fine in the Desire?
The link seems to suggest only a class 2 or a class 4 will work...
I'm using a class 4 without problems so far.
On a dutch board I read a guy was using a class 6 on Starbust so it should be possible I think.
I've just bought a 16gb class 4 Sandisk and the speed tests show it as being quite a bit faster than my class 4 (non Sandisk) 8gb card!
I'm using class 4, working fine
I'm using a 8GB class 6 card with Custom ROM and A2SD with no problem. Been over 6 months now.
A lot of class 10 cards have issues, class 6 seems to be the most reliable thus far. Some people have had good experiences with A-DATA 16gb class 10.
So from user experience - a good Class 6/10 card should work just fine?

For C6 yes.
For C10 Mostly yes... but usually class 10 is not really faster... so save the money.
Just my two cents.
I'm using Transcend 8GB class 6 without any problem. Try to format by gparted or similiar. Are you using it for any other purpose than storing photos, music or etc? For example for data2sd or apps2sd?
I just bought a transcend 16gb class 6, working perfectly so far with no problems.

I bought a 16gb class 6 to use with data2sd but struggled as the card was broken - so i've sent it back and just have the 8gb class 2 that i got with my phone now - and on stock rom again, so it is just photos and music and froyo app2sd at the moment
basically all branded cards will work fine, the thing you shoud be concerned more onthe capacity you are gonna use. It aint worth buying a 16GB sd when u cant fill even half of it with useful stuff
If speed is your thing then get a class 4 or 6 but I had SD mounted as read only with a class 4 8 gig Kingston SD, so I swooped with a buddy of mine for a class 2 SD from a Nokia n95, no problems since then.

[Q] Sd card for Htc Desire

I'm going to buy a new SD-card for my HTC Desire, I've read a lot about this and one thing i get stuck on is if you really need a higher class than 2?
I mean, the Desire HD would be good with a class 4 or class 6 since it can record in HD... But the regular Desire as you know can't
So basically I'm wondering if you can give me a reason to buy a higher classed sd card than class 2.

You will get sufficiently more speed, when copying files from\to SD, if you wish to do ap2sd or data2sd, it's quite important to have fast SD, since it costs not much more, why choose old slow card?
One more - if you'll have to buy Desire HD tomorrow, you won't have to by another one SD
Class 2 SD cards arn't that bad. I bought one and not had any problems with it at all. to be honest, probably just as good as a class 4 maybe. I did a few benchmarks with it and managed to get 9MB/s write and about 12MB/s read and a fair few people have said that is what they get with class4's/6's. People do tend to say that class 10's are useless so you may as well get a class 4/6. But as Splin-ru said it depends on what your running. If you using A2SD then class 4 minimum, if your using Data2SD then class 6 minimum. Personally, I haven't ran into any issues and I don't use A2SD or Data2SD. Had no problems with 720p recording at all so yeh, what ever you want to get.
Thanks for the replies. I decided to go with "TRANSCEND MICROSDHC CLASS 6 16GB"
Read some threads about this card and it has got quite good results in a few benchmarks. I mean, its not that pricey... As i will use A2SD i think this is the choice for me.
Peace!

[Q] microSDcards 32Gb formats to 30Gb and doesn't mount in clockwork recovery

I tried this to no avail. Used gparted to partition and format several times.
when using adb, I don't see devices attached, strangely enough. and so expectedely, subsequent commands from above link do not function
when I put the sd card in a pc under linux, I see all the partitions.
when I boot leedroid, card storage is available.
tried a vast amount of hints and solutions, but nothing helped.
During my trials, lost 2gb of sdcard storage...nowhere to find them...
phone is rooted, s-off. a 16GB sd card works like a charm but is getting small
I want to use cm7, as it give me more room for sw. (phone is always full as for many of you!)
best regards,
Olivier

Most people has problem with a class 10 sdcard, 16gb or 32gb class 6 and below, no problem.
I had same problem with 16gb class 10 but not with 16gb class 6.
So my recommendation is to get 16 GB Class 6 SD card from a good manufacturer like A-DATA, Kingston, Lexar or SanDisk. It will be fast enough for all operations.

[Q] Best suitable microSD card for EVO 4G LTE?

What is the best type of SD card? High end? I would like to find a 64gb card and attempt to use it. But, if were shopping for a 32gb, what's the high end ones w the best read/write times?
I'm ignorant to this. Thanks for the info.

No offense but, if the device has not been released. How will any one be able to tell you what card would work best? This is a question best asked after it has been out for some time and people have had a chance to test thing out on and in it. Your best bet would be to Google fastest MLC micro SD cards.

Analogie: I would recommend someone buy a tv w a higher contrast than a lower one.

If you go with a class 10 SD you never need another card. I've noticed a lot of people going into over kill mode with giant capacity cards. If you cant fill 8 or 16 g there's really no need to buy a larger sd unless its a really good deal.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.....Wayne Gretzky....
Bought myself a 16gb class 10 microSD card over black Friday weekend. I thought I'd fill it up with music and vidoes but I barely fill up like 6 gigs. A lot of space that's used is pictures ive taken and stored. To be honest, I think an 8gb is fine. Remember, its a phone lol.

I've seen scattered sources saying max 32gb total storage, but couldn't find anything in the user guide that was posted from Engadget:
https://insidesprintnow.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/20120418_htc_evo_4g_lte_user_guide.pdf
Just get a class 10 card, even 32 gb pretty cheap. It would be nice if the slot was microSDXC compatible, for the future at least.
Evo 4g LTE micro sd card
I have already done the research on this and can tell you that your best bet is a Sandisk class 4 or the new Sandisk mobile ultra which Best Buy has on sale right now 06/10/2012 for $50.00 deal of the day. By the way it is a class 6 64gig card.
Time to move this thread to the correct section (which now exists) . . .

your screenshot is showing your internal memory test. If you want to test external memory then you have to pick /sdcard/external_sd instead.
To respond to OP: I got mine from Amazon, cost me 54 EUR for SanDisk UHS class1, class 10, XC I 64gb. 32gb Sammy MicroSD HC class 10 is performing a bit better for me (just a slight bit) but lacks the space, and SanDisk one is performing as a beauty here.
ps: if in need of my screens for test on Sandisk, let me know.
Is it worth getting a 64gb card for sg2?
I ask as I've seen many reviews tgat say data can be wiped as it's not suitable.
I'm in the market for a card though can't decide if 64gb would be overkill, but at same time would negate deleting old files vids etc I may need later...
Sandisk seems the way to go, any thoughts?

Depends on your need for storage space. I had 12Gb of music on 32GB one and photos and vids just zeroed it, let alone apps/games on it. I have no problem with 64GB now. I guess, it's each to his own. And if it is going to be self_wiped, then it will be my loss there, but I don't see any problem at this time, nor my microsd performs bad or has glitches.
Having SanDisk only for a month now, I can say I'm pleased how it's performing in terms of speed and stability. I can't predict what comes next but I never had any microsd breaking on me, or any problems in the past (had from 2 t o64GB microsd from SanDisk, Samsung etc... over 4 years time span).
Hope this helps a bit.

Owner of SGS2 here (visible in my sig.): If you pick /sdcard on SGS2 it's measuring internal storage (16GB one), if you change it to /sdcard/external_sd, then it's testing external microsd card. Dunno what SGS3 does and what not, it's on ICS as a base...

I just bought a sandisk 64gb sdxc. Can't wait for it to be delivered!!! $60 AUD on Shoppingsquare, which i think is good value
And now for my 2cents worth:
Is 64gb an overkill?
Yes, but that's what I said about my 16gb card 2 years ago, and now I have no space.
Besides, i envisage apps, music, videos to get bigger as it gets better in quality.
e.g. with 64gb i can afford to have lossless audio.
Also, I have now in my room, 1gb, 2gb, 4gb, 8gb micro sd card.
I probably would have spent less money if I upgrade to a much higher capacity each time.
not to mention they are now just sitting there being wasted.
Usb adapters, lik SanDisk one, FTW / then you have a "switchable" USB key...
I don't have any wasted microSDs at all, but still has 2 x 4gb, 1 x 8 gb and 1 x 16gb micros's...
Gonna put in an order for one of these. Thanks for advice!
nice!

Hi,
Storage media of any type does not 'self-zero' itself. When it is full it stops you from writing data. Think about it: Would Sandisk still be in business if it did?
A likely reason your Sd card are self-zero'ing is because you bought a counterfeit card from a shop like Amazon or Ebay.
This is very common.
What happens? The fraudster buys cheaper 4 Gb SD Cards. He then modified the SD card firmware so that it reports to the operating system that the card is actually 32Gb. The O/S formats the card (typically a quick format by writing a few blocks at the start of the card) and you start coping the data across. Regretfully when you cross the 4 Gb limit of the card you end up writing no where. Seems that the data is simply zeroed or another error appears.
There are numerous of reports about this on Amazon.
Solution:
Don't buy SD cards from Ebay.
If you buy from Amazon then ensure that you buy from Amazon and not the Amazon MarketPlace.
Finally: If it is too cheap, then there may well be something amiss ;P
Also, I have now in my room, 1gb, 2gb, 4gb, 8gb micro sd card.
I probably would have spent less money if I upgrade to a much higher capacity each time.
not to mention they are now just sitting there being wasted.
Problem
i buy de sandisk 64gb and when i tranfer files from mi pc to the sd card i got slow tranfer speeds (around 5-6 mb/s). The sd is in fat32 that possibily affects the perfomance?, when i do sd speed test from the play store i got 13mb/s write and 30mb/s read.
Also i cant achive mounting correctly on ntfs with the app from the marquet ntfs mounter which is in xda

64Gb SanDisk works fine on mine, though I'm not on Cmiui, I'm on Sensation 4.1 flavor now, it's ICS 4.04 based (was on GB 2.3.6 before), 32GB Samsung one works flawlesly on my kid's SGS2 and any other older microSd we have works. Other then that, all my old microSd's are workign OK with adapters and such
No waste for me
Got my 64gb and it worked fine with cmiui and now with resurrection remix ! Thanks for your help and reply.
