So I left my phone charging the night before (plugged into to the wall charger), left it charging the whole night. Woke up the next morning and realized there was no power on my phone. I pressed the volume rocker, power button, and home button, but no success. The first thing that came to my mind was Sudden Death Syndrome; I removed the battery and plugged the unit into the wall charger; the Red Sensor light blinked a couple of times. At first I was upset (because I thought it was an SDS issue), but after I inserted the same battery into the battery compartment and connected the phone to the computer, and a few seconds later voila! The phone powered back on. I did some confirmatory tests to make sure the phone was intact, and it sure was. My charger reads 1.8A (~2 amperes), now a problem right now.
Would leaving a charger connected to the Note 2 for a long time result in such an experience? Would voltage fluctuations contribute to this experience?
i have mine plugged to a wall all night at connected with my laptop throughout the day and have never had a problem
I've been having this particular unit since mid-Jan '13. This morning was my first encounter with this predicament. Plugging in the charger now shows no issues. My battery health shows Good, System Status--Normal. According to the system report, there is no indication there was any temperature spike. My phone is unrooted--stock.
Lol, so I realized what I faced yesterday morning had nothing to do with SDS. In fact, there was no issue at all.
My phone was on, even removing the battery and checking the light on the proximity sensor confirmed everything was normal.
The Stupid Vonage App which was responsible, didn't allow my phone display to turn on because the app froze. The Vonage App is so buggy; I wish the company can hire better software developers. Glad I have the T-Mobile version

Ok so I've had the GS2 for a week now and i think its amazing. But, I've noticed sometimes when i charge it it shut off completely and does not charge. (via ac and also usb) I have to take out the battery and put back in and then it charges again. Is this a bad battery or is it a phone issue?

that is very weird
it should charge even when the phone is completely off
or when it goes to sleep mode
i'll suggest trying to do a Factory Format and see if that problem persist
it might be a software bug
Since getting my dock about a week and a half ago I had two nights where I woke up and the battery was nearly dead.
Dock mode activates and it claims its charging. But, it obviously does not.
The first time it happened the screen was off so the battery drain was minimal. It just did not charge. Last night however I left the clock on and woke up to a critically low battery. Luckily I went to bed late so there was still enough juice to sound my alarm.
Has anyone else with the landscape dock encountered this?
I've attached a photo to illustrate.
is this the samsung hdmi dock? i read a review on samsungs site claiming the same thing.
No the landscape dock with the pogo pins.

i wonder if this is the problem ive heard about, rumor that 4.0.5 fixes some problem with the pogo pins...
I've only had mine for two days and I have yet to see the issue (on either of my two docks).
I picked up two of these a couple weeks ago and haven't had any issues with charging. Sounds like you either got a bum dock or your device's Pogo pins have problems, sorry.
Annoying. What power source do you have plugged in to it: the factory charger, an aftermarket charger, a computer's USB port, or what?

I've been using the wall charger from my Nexus One.
It's not an every-time occurrence. Just those two nights in the last two weeks.
After looking at my battery stats picture again it looks like it did charge about 25% and then stopped. It must be some sort of software bug.
Maybe if I notice it happening I can try to catch the log and see if that sheds any light.
Where can we find a landscape 3-pin dock? I have the Sprint Nexus (SPH-L700)

Same with me.
Have the screen off.
Put it in the dock, phone will turn on, beep, launch the clock app and start charging.
Press the home button to go back to home screen, again make sure the battery icon shows charging.
Now leave it and the screen will turn off and should charge.
If you just leave the clock app on the phone doesn't go to sleep so you might have background stuff going all night long and it's not charging enough to keep up.

I disagree. It also happened with the screen off as well. There is no way background processes should draw more than the a/c charge. Even with the screen on.

Guys im having an issue with my week old s3...my battery power hit 0 percent and phone turned off and now when i plug it in it wont turn on. It will give me the little battery icon for less than a second before shutting off. I am getting no response from the phone and dont know what to do. I tried volume+ up and volume +down to no avail. Im pretty irritated at this point and need some insight. Have tried diffrent chargers and they all give me battery icon before shutting of.
What room are you on?
Have you tried just letting it charge and sit there
When my s3 but zero I plugged it in
Didn't lead power till like 5 min afterwards and it worked fine

Having the exact same problem on my phone as well running FreeGS3 v3.0 and Ktoonz kernel.
This is how I fixed mine.
Plug it in and get it to show the empty battery with a circle in it. Once you see that plug it in and leave it alone for a while at least five minutes, yes the battery sign should only stay for a second. It should just go black screen no charging light.*After five minutes or so unplug it, pull the battery, and put it back in leave the phone unplugged and hold the power button a while. Some times they act weird when they dieThis is how I fixed mine.

When you plug it in, and see the icon, let it go for on charge for about 10s, unplug the usb, then hold the power button and see if it turns on then.
Mine will be in my pocket and won't respond like it is off. I have to hold the power button for 10seconds and it will come back on This is only happening shortly after a full charge. FreeGS3 Rom.
So is this a rom issue?

I made a thread because I was having the exact same problem. Click on the link I attached in my first post. It's from the T-Mobile GS3 because they are having the same issue. The last post said flashing back to stock fixed the problem.
Just ran into this issue yesterday. I threw the battery into a standalone Anker charger for a while to get some juice back, and the phone powered up and charged fine from there.
I'm also on FreeGS3/ktoonsez.

Hey guys, I'm having charging issues. I'm rooted and on jedi x14. I'm using the zerolemon 9300 mah battery. My phone started acting up about 3 days ago. I put it to charge all night and come morning it did not. When turned on, the charging symbol would not even turn on. I changed the battery with my stock samsung battery and it showed the charging symbol, but was charging at 0 mah on galaxy charging current so I switched back to the zero lemon. It said it was charging but it was still charging at 0 mah. I left my phone on and on the charger for 9 hours and it is still at the same percentage. I turned it off for about 10 minutes while plugged in and when turned back on, it went up 2%. While turned off, the phone will not even recognize that it's charging. For example, usually when my phone is working properly and turned off, it will show a big green battery showing that it's charging. Mine would not do this. When I try to turn it on when on the charger, it will show a spinning battery symbol as if it's trying to read the battery but goes away after two seconds. My phone will not turn on when connected and powered off. After unplugging it, it will boot normally. I am using the stock samsung power brick with a different cable that is 6 ft but would still charge at 2 A up until recently. The charger works on an s3 mini, s3, and s2 with no issue. Please help, any suggestions are appreciated. I bought the phone in November and have insurance with tmobile.

Not gonna find a fix. It sounds like hardware. Try your orig cord. If it doesnt charge let tmobile deal with it via warranty.

Hello guys, and thanks for reading this.
Today, I got my HOX from a brothers' firend who's been using it for a year and a half. The device is in almost perfect shape, and he's been using it since last week or so. He reseted it to factory settings and left it in a drawer where it "died". Let's start with a timeline of all the **** I've been through with this mobile just today:
1. I got it with battery level fully depleted, wouldn't even turn on. Put it on it's original charger in the wall socket, left it there for like 10 minutes. Turned it on - it turned off after 3 minutes of "work" while still plugged in the wall socket. (Wasn't getting nearly enough juice?) We then tried charging it again, but all we got was blinking red LED or no LED indication at all.
2. Left it plugged in the wall socket for like 1.5h, after which the red LED stayed on - not blinking. Tried to turn it on, it worked, the battery was at like 50%. Removed it from charging (stupid probably, I know). It's a new phone so I went to proceed downloading my apps and logging into all of my social accounts. No problems. Even listened to music for about half an hour to test out the speaker.
3. When the battery got down to like 15% I again plugged it into a wall socket. Everything seemed fine, the red LED was on and the battery indicator on the screen was "moving" from right to left, meaning it's charging. But it was not - soon the battery was at 5%. I left the phone alone charging and after 30 minutes it was even more depleted, on 2%. Turned it off, left it to charge for 1h. Came back, turned it on - still at 2%.
4. Thought about doing another reset to manufacturers' settings while I still could. Did it (with the phone charging on USB) and when it turned back on the battery was at 10%? WTF?
5. I thought the best thing to do was to deplete the battery completely which I did and left it on AC charging for a couple of hours. When I came back, the red light was blinking. I turned it on, and the battery was at miserable 2% again, just enough to turn it on.
Any suggestions or possible solutions?
Thank you for reading my BS, appreciate it. :good:

The thing I forgot to mention was that we tested the charger on my borthers' S3 mini and it worked ok.
Anyway, thanks, will try that tomorrow when I get my hands on another charger, but it seems unlikely, seeing how it's not charging properly even via USB and how it charged the S3 mini ok.
That happened to me too. Tested my htc charger on a xperia s and works fine but plugged into my phone doesn't work. So i just use a sony charger and it works fine.

Another development in the story - it's not the charger.
I left it on charger (new charger) overnight, in the morining - 6%. Rebooted it - 90%. WTF
I'm on Android Revolution 30.1 and before it was happening on stock 4.2.2. - any ideas?
Also, should I be worried about CPU-Z showing that the CPU is constantly going from 5% to 70% load when absolutely nothing else is turned on on the phone? (exept sense, no apps from my end I mean)
Check for wakelocks and recalibrate your battery
