I haven't owned an LG phones in years, and was thinking about purchasing the Optimus G / Nexus. To recent LG device owners, how do you rate the hardware quality of your device, alone or compared to its rivals?

I'll be getting the G early next week so I'll tell you what I think of it after I get it.
LG has had a bad reputation with sales people....software were has been buggy, hardware second rate...though they always push the envelope with tech (thrill 3D, Expo projector...etc) YOU Want TO PUSH THEIR PHONES BUT THEY just screw up on the little things) this phone is different yes still has the stupid quality control issues LG is infamous for but this is an amazing phone. THEY didn't try to be the first out of the gate with some feature...they just tried to improve on everything that a techie wants. Screen check speed check sound check RAM ram ram check check check sd card check fit and finish check check...guarantee this will be the first LG phone really pushed in stores it is awesome...the software and UI need to be fixed in the next two weeks and the keyboard needs a complete overhaul...congrats on making it to the party finally LG

You know, you just made me wonder if they will unlock the bootloader now...
They really are trying hard to appeal to techies.. so maybe they will go all the way..
I don't see a page for Rooting this phone. Is it because it is so new, or because not many people are interested in the phone?
Also, my only gripe about the phone is the sound, which is low. If a ROM does come out, is that the kind of thing that may be tweaked?
I used to jail break my old iphone (when it was not so easy) and look forward to having a lot of fun on Android. The Optimus seems perfect for me, and maybe the smoothest and fastest phone around, but I hate 2 year contracts. The alternative right now is to get the Nexus 4 and wait a while for more large phones to come out (around the corner), then bite the bullet and sign a contract. Sound like a sound plan?
Another newbie question: how well do these phones (Androids) hold their value? I wonder if many people simply buy phones at retail (full value) and sell them on Ebay nine months or a year later, then go and buy the latest, greatest again? Like many, as soon as I get a new phone, I put screen protectors on the front and back, then put the phone in a case or bumper, so it remains like new. (ATT is buying back old iphone 4S's for $200).
Here's something I can contribute: there is a new iPad like cover for the Optimus G Pro. It is like the iPad cover in that it has a magnet and the phone switches off when closed, and on when open. In Korea now and headed this way. Google it. I think it is a big plus for this phone, now if they would only fix the low volume.

Um, we do actually have a thread on rooting. As for not having any ROMs, yet, that's because we still have a locked bootloader, but progress is being made.
Not sure what the mention of the quick cover was about, but we have them in the US and they work very well.

If you could point me in the right direction of where I could purchase (in USA) the cover I referred to above (for the OGP with magnet that turns the phone on and off when cover opened and closed), I would appreciate it. Thanks, and good luck!!

What you are looking for is the lg CCF 210 folio case. There are also some knock off versions on ebay. They all look super sweet.
I have an iPhone 5 I'm using as an Ipod and was looking to sell it. Was looking at tablets and was thinking nexus 7 2013, LG gpad 8.3 and the Samsung galaxy note 8.0. I liked the other one since they have. Bigger screens but their development is at a minimum while the nexus has a lot of roms and support. Is the hardware subpar as some would suggest? Is wifi connection a problem over time? Would just like to know what's really happening before I make my purchase. Thanks appreciate all input.

Ive had mine for a week and loving it.
Coming from a 1st gen Kindle fire, this is much better. Kindle I would have to turn wifi off if not actively using it.
Here, I'm actually leaving wifi on 24/7 and also not even plugging it in at night.
Left it idling at work all day, lost about 9% battery. Went to sleep, woke up, 2% gone.
Actually just checked stats, 81%, Not charging
1d 6h 2m on battery. To me, thats good.
I even watched a whole 50min tv show and lost I think 2%.
I'm liking it. Only time I seen the battery go nuts and the device get hot was when I was with Google Earth.
So far no screen problems. I sometimes feel I had a tap on keyboard no detect, but when I tested in a multi touch tester, everything looks fine.
Plus I got mine on sale at staples, so $150, cant go wrong.
I'm wondering about the touch issues as well. Maybe I should just buy one at a big store so i can return it if I have any problems.

Touch issues is truly a hit-or-miss. Your device might have issues, as well as it might not. I had 2 devices (16gb which I returned for 32gb) which both had very mild touchscreen issues.
Get it! The display is just awesome (I've had no prob's) - ^ man $150 is a scream'n deal!

Lucked out. staples $229, microcenter price match to 199, then a 2day $50 off coupon.
They had no 32gb in stock. When I went to another that had it, I was too stressed to deal with an exchange.
Microcenter matched the 32 to 229, so with 50 off coupon could have been had for 179.

I am also planning to buy one. Is there any batch which has no problems? I use HTC one x and few had hardware WiFi problems. So august batch was perfect as HTC admitted the issue which i bought. Since with my budget this is the best tab I am kind of leaned towards it. But I can't have one which has any problem coz In my country there is no replacement warranty for nexus devices. Is there any way to check the batch number to get a perfect device?
what kind of support does Google give for devices with multi-touch issues. I really dont want to have to deal with that.

Other than sending it back on your own dime? None.
Google doesn't have a physical store like Apple, which I sorely missed. Not to mention the almost ZERO support from Google on any issue, judging by the posting in Google product forum. I.e. multi touch, Wi-Fi, Google Now, etc.
This is why forum like XDA exist.
Disclaimer: I used to own Apple products, but has moved completely to Android because I like cracked apps.. sorry.. Customization.

Sorry if I am hijacking this thread to ask my questions here but do you feel the tablet functions lag-free, choppy and fault-free even without having to root the device? I mean, all I need the tablet to do is to function without any faults or lag, which I would appreciate I could accomplish without having to risk rooting the device which itself has caused issues for many.
Secondly, plenty seemingly report that updating the OS poses more and more problems for them so would you suggest sticking to the same OS that the tablet runs out of the box instead of updating it anytime?
Finally, there's no Google or Apple store in the country where I reside. Would you suggest buying this or Apple iPad (3rd Generation) keeping in view the chances of hardware/software failures of the two tablets. If there are any other suggestions you might wanna make, please go ahead.
Thanks in advance.
Yeah this tablet has to many problems in my opinion. All these issues and Amazon reviews list so many problems or others report that after a while everything starts breaking down. Just because it's cheap doesn't mean quality control and build quality should be so bad. I'm going to go with LG gpad 8.3. Rock solid build and pretty great performance and features. Was $350 but this weekend price dropped to about $270. Yes you may not get those updates fast or even ever but it seems like updates are hurting the nexus 7 anyway from all the reports i read. Google is really dropping the ball.

I suppose you are right, especially considering there are so many genuine issues riding the device and there is no support in my country form Google AT ALL. Thanks so much for introducing me to the LG G Pad 8.3; I had no knowledge of that one. Seems nice but I was beginning to consider SONY Xperia Z Tab but after some research, I discovered that that tab had issues of its own including genuine lag on the tablet.
I guess LG G Pad 8.3 is my best bet right now. Can you recommend some place that ships internationally and is actually reliable and offers the best price on the LG G Pad 8.3 INCLUDING where you might be getting it from? I did stumble upon newegg's latest offering here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834325004
I was wondering if you'd recommend this or someplace else.
I would be glad to hear from you soon.
Thanks.
LG G PAd is a great compared to Nexus 7 (2013) and its ISsues

It's really sad what Google is doing to their products. They need to drop ASUS because their quality is really low. Yeah the LG G Pad is looking really good to me right now. Sorry I live in the US so I don't know much about international Shipping. Currently New egg has the best deals on this tablet so you can shop around on their. Haven't seen any better deals Yet. Let me know how tit works for you. And yes I also discovered about the G Pad browsing the forums. Before I purchase a device I do extensive research On it. Many have complained about the nexus 7 2013's quality and hardware problems and in Comparison LG has very little. In fact I believe its because no ones knows abut the LG Tab yet so its not widely Known. Its a really good deal in my honest opinion. Great hardware and software. I compared to the Note 8.0 and Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 and 7.0 but the Samsung's seems really inferior at this point. Low screen density and Slow processors. I guess to each his own however, some people just like touch wiz. In Fact I have a Note 2 and in Terms of phones i prefer Samsung but their tablets or at last the small ones are really lagging behind right now.
Should I get it? Are there certain firmwares needed for an unlocked bootloader or is sprint keeping this thing open? I love everything about the phone, I just don't want to be limited as to what I can and can't tweak. Also, for those of you using the G3, are there any regrets? Other phones you wish you would have gotten? The nexus 6 is calling me but with the work I do, I'd have to leave it at home. The G3 seems just right. I did research but with random threads and post's these days, it makes it hard to track down reliable info. So I figured I would ask the users of the phone these questions. I'm going to be starting a new 2 year contract so I want to make the right choice.
If I am wrong someone please correct me, but actually the only g3 variant that is oficially unlocked is T-mobile one. However, the "bump" workaround works really good, so don't worry about it. When it comes to Sprint version You should take under consideration that it's a bit less popular than the international D855 edition, so it won't get the same attention that the former does. Tbh, I don't know how is it in other countries, but what really got me into buying G3 was the price/components ratio. It's a great phone worth its price, however like every other phone has its cons - what could be mentioned is heavy LG software + 4K resolution that make it a bit slowlier than the opposition, a bit less on-battery time (despite 3000 mha batter). On the other fronts, the LG G3 beats other companies - like camera, quality, ergonomy, price etc.
I'm coming from a OP3. I just bought a Pixel 3 XL, but the screen is too big for my tastes, and I think I got a bad one anyway as it was glitchy - certainly not worth the price, so it's on it's way back to Google.
I'm looking for a screen around 6" with snappy performance, especially when browsing multiple tabs with firefox mobile, and strong mobile signal.
I care about security patches, and privacy. I also value upgrading to newer versions of stock-ish android without a bunch of junk.
I know that the processor in the LG is the newer, but the 5t has double the ram (and still has an octa-core proc).
The 5t's will all be used (presumably, as OP doesn't sell them anymore), while the LG G7 would be new with warranty. Having a warranty on a new phone vs no warranty on a used phone is an attractive plus, and makes the decision harder.
I like the styling on the LG better than the 5t, I don't mind the notch.
Can you guys weigh in, and help out?
One of the most disgusting device supports is the LG. Nizachto would not have taken the phone of this manufacturer. I had the experience of using earlier.
Oneplus is better.
you still can ge a sealed oneplus 5t just look on online retailers and sellers in your place

Yeah as previously told here, LG has the worst software support. Irony is their flagships are not bootloader-unlockable. Here in Asia we have dual sim model which doesn't support bootloader unlocking. There is even a bounty thread on whosoever unlocks it. Whether it's unlockable as of today or not, the thing is software support, which is null. Better go with 5T. You'll be a happier customer
since you are at oneplus 5t page you know what the answer is gonna be. you ask the same question in lg g7 thinq page and you know what the answer is gonna be. my suggestion would be ask some place neutral.

Just came across this thread again today, and realized I never updated it.
I ended up getting the 5t and am happy with it. Sharing the info about LG's support tipped the scales to the 5t. Thanks for responding.
you are asking in oneplus forums so i guess you know the answer. you ask the same question in LG forums and you also know the answer.
